Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

As a safety recall, I did take the truck in for the airbag recall upon completion. I ran the codes and I have an airbag code. They’re saying that the dashboard was broken before they started. It was not. They broke it on installation of the new airbag.

For the last couple years, I have been talking to Chevrolet GM. My engine has been replaced at 9000 miles. This motor now does not even have 100,000 miles on it. The second engine left me stranded twice coming back from a long trip. The motor shook stalled and I could not get it. Restarted once I did get it restarted the engine made a loud banging noise my truck looks practically brand new. It just sits in the driveway and looks pretty. I’m afraid to drive it because it’s gonna leave me stranded again and I have been talking with Chevrolet and he seemed to keep pushing me away and I don’t know what else to do

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the ignition switch failed to turn over, and the catalytic converter failed and was replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired. The catalytic converter was replaced; however, the ignition was not repaired. Most recently, the engine displayed several fault codes. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My truck tires were bought at Costco in 2015 and had 70k Warranty or 6yrs WCF. My added truck mileage since then is 12k miles. I discovered my driver rear passenger tire go flat . I put the spare and took it to Costco for repair. Costco informed me that this is a tire defect as the tire had a side wall perforation. Tire cannot be repaired and a new replacement is required. I looked up Michelin tire recalls and found one issued in 2013 about Michelin X-Radial tires discussing this same defect but it did not include my tire size ( P245/70R17 ) . Fortunately this incident did not occur while driving at high speed.

The rust damage to the frame is damaged beyond anything form just regular wear and tear and driver fault. To not be remedied is a real issue. The salt used in the roads and the material used by the car companies isn’t anything myself as a consumer could prepare for.

I just bought this truck in June of 2024. This was a bad dealer because he knowingly sold me the truck with severe frame damage and let me drive a dangerous truck off the lot. I cannot deem it as a total loss to have it replaced because it falls under “wear and tear”. I now have to pay for the truck for the next 5 years and don’t have the money to fix it because the quote states it will be around $13,000, which is how much he sold me the truck for. Because it is a 2010 the warranty has expired. I am completely frustrated and disappointed that there is no one to help me with this betrayal. I have read that many others who have bought GMC’s are and have had the same issues and GM refuses to recall the frames. Something needs to be done about this considering it is GM who did not apply any anti-rust or anti-corrosion to the frames on their vehicles.

GM 3.0 diesel engine has a coolant control valve that fails putting the vehicle into a reduced power mode causing the vehicle to have significantly reduced acceleration and putting the engine fan at full to reduce engine heat. When stopped, the engine had been running very hot as you can hear the popping from the metal as it cools off. The part to repair this issue is 40009158 and is being replaced by 40009452. This part is on a nationwide backorder with hundreds on the waiting list just at this time for a repair and no clear picture of when parts will become available. Many other cases have been reported since 2021 for the same issue with the 3.0 GM Duramax engine with engine code/styles LM2 & LZO.

Just told by car repair shop; dealer; and frame and body shop that the 2010 Silverado truck we paid $20, 000 for 2-1/2 years ago has a frame that is rotted. All professionals mentioned it is a design flaw GM was aware of. The 2010, however, was not part of their recall. What can we do to seek restitution for this vehicle that now is worth $800 to a scrap yard?

The frame is severely rusting out. Was found during an oil change by a certified mechanic. This will cause serious safety concerns as the frame will break. After researching this issue online, it appears this is a common problem others are having with Chevrolet. I believe others have filled complaints and look forward to a recall to fix these vehicles. I purchased this truck in 2022 from a Car lot. everything seemed to be ok when we bought it. we have since put less then 7000 miles on it and we took it in for a check up when our mechanic found that the frame is totally rusted out. we contacted the chevy dealership about a frame repair and were told it would need a brand new frame that would cost between $7,000-$10,00 to get it fixed and a 6 month wait time. I have been in the mean time doing my own searching and found among many chevy owners that is particular year of truck all have the similar issue where folks put on less then 7-10k miles and the frame rots away. I feel that if this is in fact a large problem among chevy trucks in the years of 2007 to 2013, then Chevy/GM should issue a recall for these frames.

The component unknown, I do not know what caused this to happen. The charging system suddenly drops and power to the truck is shutting off or losing power. The electric doors and dash lights, plus trailer frailer all occur and locks going up and down. Today on a major highway in Kansas City, All dash lights and indicators came on and then the truck started to stop in major traffic. I had to put the transmission in neutral and out of gear and try to keep from losing control of the truck as the were trying to lock up. I quickly shut of the ignition and then turned it back on. I put on a new alternator thinking that would fix the problem. Well 200 dollars later and two days later is when this major problem cause me almost to be in a serious accident. I usually get my service done at Cable Dahmer Chevrolet in Independence MO. I am beside myself, as I know of another owner that has the same year and his is now doing the same thing. Is this a serious problem that may have been going on in other similar vehicles, I would say so. Since I did not panic and made the truck keep going and stop it from locking up, what would be the safety factor of someone, who could not know what to do? No warning lights or nothing lit up just cruising along. No accident and have not had it access yet. I have yet to contact the Chevy dealer and yes it was a high risk concern. No one was hurt or injured, but could have been. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I went to get the Takata recall done. I made an appointment at the dealer, and I showed up. After spending several hours of my day, the dealer told me the airbag was on back order and they even asked me if I actually want to get it done. The dealer informed me my dash would be broken after they finished the job. I told them the airbag is dangerous and it needed to get done. They told me they would order it and call me when it arrived and that has never happened. I called the NHTSA hot line and there was no service. The fact is this should have been recalled on November 15, 2015, but the NHTSA let GM postpone the recall endangering the public for over 7 years. The fact is the NHTSA covers for GM like they did with the ignition switch, the GMT800 Brake lines and a bunch of other situations. The NHTSA reports are also full of lies and misinformation. I don’t blame GM for not doing the recall because they never planned on it. I blame the NHTSA for covering for them and helping companies like GM in hiding defects. Now even if I get the recall done the vehicle will have one of the squibs disconnected because that is part of the GM recall instructions. They actually tell the technician to cut 1/2 of the airbag wires. The fact is this will make the air bag weaker.
