Vehicle began making loud knocking sound XXX Towed to dealer 9/8 after holiday. They found metal in the oil and believe it needs an engine replacement. A week later I have no answers, there's no loaners available, so I am just without a car. We bought car from Zimbrick Chevy in [XXX]. It was never disclosed to us that the vehicle had an engine replacement right before we purchased. New engine lasted about 16,000 miles. Only once we saw the history of the car in the current dealership's service app did we learn about the engine replacement. This is beyond unacceptable! This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall N252494000 / NHTSA Campaign 25V274 for a known L87 6.2L V8 engine defect. Prior to the June 2025 recall notice, I incurred repair costs for the same defect at Schumacher Chevrolet, [XXX], on XXX ($405.63) and XXX ($2,755.76), neither of which resolved the issue. On XXX and again on 02/14/2025, the vehicle suffered total loss of propulsion on [XXX], once causing a missed professional licensing exam and requiring emergency roadside repair. The vehicle's engine replacement repair order remained open for 181 consecutive days (XXX) before GM authorized a full engine replacement under warranty. I submitted a written reimbursement demand to GM on XXX for $10,717.31 in documented losses under 49 CFR § 577.7. GM has not responded in writing and instead offered an unverifiable verbal credit of $3,000, which the servicing dealer has no record of. I am filing this complaint due to GM's failure to remedy this known, pre-notification defect within a reasonable time as required by 49 U.S.C. § 30120. 2022 Chevy Tahoe went into limp mode at 62,500 miles out of the blue and check engine light came on. At the certified Chevy dealership I was told it was the transmission control valve, Code P2732, which is a known widespread factory issue in these models. Upon further inspection, was told my transmission fluid was completely black and burned and it ruined the transmission and therefore it needs to be replaced. "Consequential Damage Policy: When a control valve body fails and stays "stuck on," it forces maximum line pressure through the system. Continuing to drive under these conditions quickly destroys the internal clutch packs, burns the fluid, and melts down the transmission." This is exactly what happened and my vehicle was never put on a recall list but clearly was a ticking time bomb.

Driving the vehicle down the highway at approximately 65 miles per hour, the check engine light came on and the engine went into limp mode, slowing immediately. Upon getting the vehicle to the left shoulder on a busy highway, the vehicle displayed "engine overheating", "battery low", and 0% oil life. A full oil and filter change had been done less than 1000 miles ago and upon checking the oil, it was at the correct level. The engine completely failed and is not being replaced at a Chevrolet dealership. I completed the recall N252494003 on March 5th, 2026 which comprised of an engine inspection, higher viscosity oil, a new oil cap, filter replacement, and owner's manual insert. The engine still failed and required replacement despite having this done.

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe diesel unexpectedly lost power while driving. I was stopped, made a right turn, and accelerated to approximately 34–40 mph on a two-way street when the vehicle suddenly shook, shifted into neutral, and the engine shut off without warning. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or prior symptoms before the failure. I was driving with two young children secured in car seats at the time. This created a serious safety risk because the vehicle became disabled in the roadway, and I had limited control while traffic was present. The vehicle has not yet been diagnosed, and the exact failed component/system is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The incident has been reported to a dealer or service center, but the problem has not yet been confirmed or reproduced at this time.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #5. The dealer informed the contact that the engine was taken apart during the diagnostic process, and the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact expressed doubts that the engine was taken apart or repaired because the dealer had only sent pictures of the exterior of the vehicle to the warranty company. Additionally, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that at approximately 55,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a torque converter failure, and the torque converter was replaced under the factory warranty. The contact stated that four months later, the failure reoccurred, and the dealer declined to cover the repair. Subsequently, the camshaft failed, leading to a recommendation for a complete engine replacement. The contact stated that old parts from the original engine were installed on the new engine without authorization. Two months after the engine replacement, the transmission valve body failed while the vehicle was 237th on a back-order list. Three months after a second transmission repair, the vehicle suffered another transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission was new but discovered but was being charged for the installation of old, faulty parts from the original engine onto the new powertrain. The vehicle was currently at the dealer, and the contact was without transportation. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I had the recall for the Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-up completed on 2025-05-04. While I was driving March 2026 my Tahoe went into limp mode and I had to have it towed because it wouldn’t reverse it was towed a day after this happened to Lynch Chevrolet. It has sat there ever since with no fix in site. I had to get a rental vehicle that GM is paying for but they have stipulations to what they pay for and the vehicle they gave is not comparable or better than MY car. Not only is this an inconvenience but they are doing the bare minimum to help with their mistakes.

My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe has a recurring pattern of excessive oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, repeated check engine light events, P0420 catalyst-efficiency faults, and repeated catalytic-converter-related repairs. At approximately 75,000 miles, the vehicle shut down on the freeway. At approximately 121,000 miles, the first catalytic converter failed. Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel documented P0420 and catalyst failure in November 2025, and GM service history reflects catalytic-converter replacements at 131,468 miles and approximately 141,082 miles. The vehicle also underwent major injector-related repair in early 2026. At 141,620 miles, Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel started an oil consumption test and stated in writing that oil consumption can lead to repeat failed converters and false oxygen sensor readings. Despite substantial repairs, the problem pattern continued. I am reporting this as a possible safety-related defect affecting engine operation, emissions-system failure, and drivability, and I am asking NHTSA to review whether this indicates a broader safety-related defect.

Driving down I495 in Mass when engine stopped with no warning or prior symptoms. My wife and 4 children (including 2 friends of our kids) were in the car. Luckily we were able to safely pull to the shoulder after coasting through a construction zone. If we hadn’t made it to a safe piece of shoulder chances are high that another vehicle would have hit our vehicle and hurt and killed us. These 6.2 engines are a serious safety hazard and I only hope my new engine proves to be reliable. Car was towed to dealer who diagnosed it as a seized motor. Car is a 2022 Chevy Tahoe with the problematic 6.2 engine. Engine had passed Chevrolet’s Pico test as per the 6.2 recall about 7,000 miles before it seized. Vehicle and engine dealer maintained with all required changes/maintenance. Engine seized/failed with no warning.

The vehicle shifted itself into neutral and shut off while driving. It happened twice in three days. The first time I was pulling into the driveway so I was able to put it in park and restart the car safely. The second time I was in the middle of traffic in Tampa and it shifted into neutral and shut off in the middle of the road. Luckily no cars hit me but again I had to apply the break , restart the car and put it back in drive. This was very scary and I had my kids with me. Earlier in the day I had been driving on 75 and if it had happened then it could have been a bad wreck. It shows there are no current recalls on my vehicle. No warning lights or messages appeared. Vehicle was purchased less than 30 days ago. I will contact the dealership to verify there are no open recalls just in case but again when I checked I found none.

The check engine light came on on my Chevy Tahoe, November 2023. The system started to fail it would say for collision not able service ESC system. I would bring it into the shop. They would hook it up to the computer and they would say oh nothing wrong we just reset it. Then it started to shut down and it would say proceed with caution, low acceleration, no front and collision service ESC and I would have. Luckily I was in a city so I took it to the shop. They gave me a print off. Said there was no technician cleared it. I was able to make it home and I made an appointment. They put it on the computer. they said oh nothing‘s wrong. Everything‘s fine then it did it again and I was going through the mountains. I noticed that my car smelled of gas and that the gas gauge was just sucking fuel and I knew this was a problem.. they finally found out what was going on, but I feel the damage had already been done. The part that got replaced was over $1000. I had to pay out-of-pocket for it. Now my vehicle’s engine is shot.
