DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED AND AGREED THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL, # 04V357000, CONCERNING THE ENGINE. HOWEVER, AREA DEALERSHIPS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CHARGE.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60 MPH IN CLEAR DRY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE ALL FLUID LEVELS WERE CHECKED BUT COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING NHTSA RECALL #04V357000; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING AND SCHEDULED FOR THE REPAIR. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR, THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. WHEN CALLED LATER, THE SERVICE DEALER COULD NOT REMEMBER THE LOT NUMBER OF THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED.

MY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS GONE BAD. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS PART BUT MY PART DOES NOT FALL INTO THE LOT NUMBER DEEMED DEFECTIVE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT SO THE PART MUST BE DEFECTIVE. THE SENSOR'S MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL A BROADER RANGE OF LOT NUMBERS. *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT A DAEWOO RECALL #04V394000 WAS RECEIVED THREE WEEKS AGO AND 9 MESSAGES HAVE BEEN LEFT AT THE DAEWOO PHONE NUMBER LISTED ON THE RECALL LETTER BUT THERE HAVE BEEN NO RETURN CALLS. THE RECALL LETTER DETAILED A CONSEQUENCE OF THE RECALL; WIRES MAY MELT AND FUSE TOGETHER RESULTING IN A SAFETY HAZARD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO BEGAN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE RECALL LETTER WAS RECIEVED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS OF INABILITY TO LOCATE A DEALER TO PERFORM THE RECALL REMEDY REPAIR.
