Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Suspension
Filed May 13, 2020

LEAF SPRING HANGERS ARE BENDING FROM TURNS DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND NO REINFORCEMENT. AFTER SO MANY TIMES THAT THEY BEND BACK AND FORTH STRESS POINTS ARE CREATED AND THE METAL FATIGUES AND SNAPS, AND THE SUSPENSION AND AXLE BECOMES UNHINGED FROM THE TRAILER AT THE POINT OF FAILURE WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PERSONS TOWING IT, CREATING ERRATIC HANDLING. IF ANY OF THE OTHER 3 SPRING HANGERS TO THAT AXLE HAS THE SAME FAILURE THE WHOLE AXLE CAN COME UNATTACHED TO THE TRAILER. THEIR ARE COMPANY'S THAT ARE MAKING AND SELLING AFTERMARKET PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE MANUFACTURER IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT SO FAR. WESTLAKE TIRES FAILING ' OPERATING TIRE PRESSURE: 80PSI COLD ' AVG OPERATING SPEED: 55-60MPH ' TRAILER LOAD: LIGHT, NO TOY IN THE REAR ' EEZTIRE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM - 4 SENSORS NOVEMBER 1, 2017 ' APPROX MILEAGE AT TIME OF INCIDENT: 1,300 MILES SINCE PURCHASE DATE LEFT ON NOV 1, 2017 FOR A TRIP FROM CA TO CO. BEING VERY WEARY OF THE TIRES FROM ALL THE REPORTS I HAD BEEN READING, I ALWAYS CHECK THE TIRE FOR WEAR AT EVERY STOP. UPON ARRIVING IN HEBER CITY, UTAH WE NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE TIRES (DRIVER-SIDE FRONT) WAS WEARING STRANGE. THE OUTER TREAD WAS WORN MORE THAN THE REST OF THE TIRE. WE MADE THE DECISION TO CONTINUE ON THE FINAL 200 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION. WE MADE SEVERAL STOPS PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE TIRE WEAR. ONCE ARRIVING, I HAD THE TIRE REPLACED AT BIG O TIRES IN CRAIG, COLORADO. JUNE 18, 2018 ' APPROX MILEAGE AT TIME OF INCIDENT: 2,500 MILES SINCE PURCHASE DATE ON OUR RETURN TRIP FROM CO TO CA ON JUNE 20, 2018, WE STOPPED IN HEBER CITY, UTAH FOR FUEL. UPON CHECKING THE TIRES, I FOUND THAT ONE OF THE WESTLAKE TIRES HAD LOST APPROX 40% OF A COMPLETE SECTION OF TREAD, ONLY THE STEEL CORDS WERE LEFT. THE TIRE HAD NOT LOST TIRE PRESSURE NOR HAD THE TEMP CLIMBED TO RAISE THE ALARM ON THE TPMS SYSTEM. LUCKY WE HAD CAUGHT THIS BEFORE THE TIRE BLEW APART AND CAUSED ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY. WE PROCEEDED TO A LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTER LESS THAN MILE AWAY WHERE I HAD ALL 4 TIRES REPLACED WITH SAILUN 14PLY TIRES. THESE TIRES HAD LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON THEM. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THESE TIRES FAILING. THEY ARE SEVERELY OVER-RATED AND NEED TO BE PULLED OFF THE MARKET AND A NATION-WIDE RECALL ISSUED, HOPEFULLY BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES THEIR LIFE.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
