I was driving on the highway at about 60-70 mph and my truck shifted into first gear with my tires basically locking up and slid along the highway. I brought my truck into a ford dealership and they told me they couldn’t get it to replicate the incident so they turned me away. I personally replaced my battery terminals and it hasn’t done it again. Now I will be driving and randomly my truck will rev bomb and my gauge cluster will shut off and it shows up with an orange wrench symbol but when I turn the car off it resets. The research I’ve done it can come from a speed sensor or the lead frame. I know 2014 fords have a recall on transmissions but my truck does not have a documented one but there is something funky going on with it.

On July 2, 2026, the vehicle was brought to an authorized dealer for a scheduled appointment to resolve active Safety Recall 26S45 / NHTSA Campaign 26V378 (6R80 transmission sudden downshift defect). The dealership refused to perform the recall software update, claiming it was not needed for the vehicle. On July 12, 2026, while traveling at highway speeds on a public highway, the transmission suffered the exact un-commanded sudden downshift described in the recall. The violent mechanical force instantly snapped the rear driveshaft in half and severed the undercarriage air conditioning lines, creating a sudden, life-threatening loss of control and wheel speed reduction on a live highway. The vehicle is now permanently disabled due to the dealer's refusal to fulfill a federal safety mandate.

I am the owner of a 2014 Ford F-150 that is experiencing sudden, unexpected downshifts into a lower gear while driving at highway speed. This has happened on multiple occasions and has nearly caused accidents, including loss of vehicle control momentarily. This defect matches the description of Ford safety recall 26S45 (loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module, causing unexpected downshift into first gear). Despite this, my vehicle was not included when I checked recall status, even though I have an open Ford claim number: Cxh-08412521-F6L5j4. I am filing this complaint to ensure this incident is on record given the ongoing safety risk, and to request that NHTSA confirm whether my VIN should be captured under recall 26S45 or a related campaign (24S37/24V444). Description: Transmission suddenly and dramatically downshifts at highway speed without warning, causing loss of vehicle control and near-accidents.

Hello, I recently brought my 2014 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX]) to the dealership regarding Recall 24S37. The vehicle experienced the following symptoms: • Check Engine Light illuminated. • Wrench Light illuminated. • Intermittent loss of power. • Abnormal transmission behavior. • Intermittent no-start condition. • Vehicle would only start after moving the gear selector. The dealership informed me that no physical repairs would be performed because the diagnostic trouble codes retrieved were different from those associated with Recall 24S37. However, the vehicle continues to exhibit transmission-related symptoms, and I am concerned that the underlying condition may be related to or aggravated by the conditions addressed in Recall 24S37. I am requesting that Ford review this case and determine whether additional diagnostic evaluation or repairs should be considered. However, they refuse to accept that the codes have anything to do with the recall, even though it is the same part and the affected sensor that is triggering the error codes on the scanner. They are asking me to pay for the transmission repair because the codes are not the ones approved for the recall, but based on the signs and symptoms the truck is showing, it is a chain reaction that triggered the previously mentioned failures. My 2014 Ford F-150 is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the Ford transmission molded lead frame safety recall 24S37. While driving approximately 55 mph late at night on a five-lane roadway, the vehicle suddenly and violently jerked, downshifted and came to a complete stop becoming stalled out as I was approaching a major traffic intersection. The truck was disabled in traffic and would not restart for approximately 2-3 minutes, leaving me stranded in an active travel lane and at risk of being struck from behind by another vehicle at high speed. The vehicle has displayed transmission-related symptoms including inability to correctly indicate gear position, harsh shifting, unexpected downshifts into 1st gear while driving, transmission fault warnings, and check engine lights. Initially it was mostly dying while idling and we thought it was the common "Fuse 27" issue, being unaware of the recall. Then the condition reproduced multiple times and symptoms worsened dramatically. Ford dealership inspected the vehicle. According to the technician's written report, the truck was found to be "having transmission problems, unable see what gear the truck is in and shifts to 1st gear while driving" and recommended replacement of the molded lead frame. The dealership confirmed transmission-related diagnostic trouble codes were present and documented symptoms consistent with lead frame failure. Despite the recommendation of the lead frame replacement and documenting symptoms consistent with the safety recall, the repair was not approved. The vehicle continues to experience symptoms associated with the recalled defect and is unsafe to drive away. Dealership confirms software update will not correct problem. I am submitting this complaint as the transmission defect poses a significant safety hazard to me, my children, and other drivers due to unexpected downshifts, loss of power, stalling, and the risk of becoming disabled in traffic. The truck remains available to inspect

I have had the 24S37 recall applied to my truck it was a software update, after the update it was ok for about a month then the problem became worse than it was before the software update. My truck is now downshifting and locking up the rear wheels and dose not shift sometimes and skips gears. This problem is getting worse everyday. I talked to the Ford dealership by my house and they told me I needed to buy a new transmission from them and there was no remedy for my problem other than the new transmission. I noticed the are recalling the 2015 trucks with the same transmission problem. Will my truck be added to the recall ? I have the same transmission

It was Tuesday 04/14 I had just left a store. Drove to the corner stop sign and applied the breaks which have always been just fine, easy to stop and slow. Until thst day I eased on the breaks and all of a sudden the peddle went to the floor. I came home and called my mechanic shop. They told me to bring it in. When I did they told me the master cylinder had gone out and was leaking all into the booster. They felt it was unsafe for me to drive it. They gave me a loaner vehicle. Upon returning to my home that's when I saw all the break fluid running down my driveway where I had parked when I got home from the store the day prior. Which I hadn't noticed before. So, now I'm without my vehicle because I simply can't afford a $900 repair bill. I've looked it up and on your website it shows in 2025 there was a recall on the 2014 Ford F-150 that named the master cylinder as a problem. It also stated that on Google. Please help.

Vehicle Information: 2014 Ford F-150 VIN [XXX] Transmission: 6R80 Description of the problem: My 2014 Ford F-150 has a dangerous transmission issue. It suddenly downshifts from higher gears (like 4th or 5th) into 1st gear while driving, without warning. This creates a serious risk of loss of control or rear-end collision. Ford performed the recall for the 6R80 PCM reprogramming, but the issue persists. The problem was not resolved, and the vehicle still downshifts abruptly. My vehicle has over 200,000 miles, so the extended warranty for the lead frame (program 19N01) no longer applies, but this is a serious safety defect that continues after the recall. I’m requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as it seems the recall fix is not effective in all cases. Many other owners report similar symptoms even after the recall. Safety concern: I feel unsafe driving this vehicle. The transmission can cause a sudden deceleration in traffic, and I fear it may lead to an accident. Ford supposedly repaired my truck via recall 24S37 on June 6 2025. However, while driving at approx 65 mph 2 days later, my truck downshifted again to first gear. This went on for another 2 weeks until I took it back to Crossroads Ford in Henderson NC again and they notated that I have a code P1500 AND CODE p0722 WHICH IS A LEAD FRAME IN TRANSMISSION ISSUE but they did not repair it..AGAIN. It is currently at the same dealership and they called me from Dearborn MI to inform me that I am not covered. It is a 2014 with 308,000 miles. I am relegated to driving 30 mph if I am to drive it as shifting down is unsafe. The issue is that it is a Ford defect even if I am at 308k and they refuse to rectify my issue so that my family can ride safely. Major transmission failure that causes sudden unintended downshift to first gear, even at high speeds. This occurs often and randomly without warning, causing the engine to "redline", rear tires to slide and the vehicle to come to a near sudden stop. This is an extreme safety concern, especially in slippery road conditions as the vehicle could overturn or slide off the road or at a minimum be rear-ended for suddenly stopping unexpectedly on a freeway. This is a widely known problem by Ford. The local Ford service manager admitted that his 2013 F150 has the same issue and he continues to drive it because he tried fixing it by replacing the Molded Lead Plate in the transmission and that didn't resolve the problem. Remember, I noted this is a Ford Service Manager! Ford has issued a recall (24S37); however, the prescribed solution is to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software updated and that prescribed fix actually makes the sudden downshifting happen more often. This is the cheapest, band-aid solution that Ford hides behind so they can say that they are addressing this issue. A second Ford dealership down the road actually admitted that they have identified that the recommended software update actually makes the problem worse and they practically refuses to perform the software update for their customers. After several discussions with Ford's Recall Assistance Team and several discussions with a local dealership's service manager, Ford is not willing to do anything more, despite this major safety issue not only not getting resolved, but actually has gotten worse due to their band-aid approach of a software update. In my case, if further diagnosis is to be performed, I have to be the one that covers that cost and also I would be the one to cover the cost of repairs. To me, this is completely unacceptable. The rational that Ford uses to deny accountability is that the vehicle's computer doesn't register any DTC codes when the incident occurs.
