Was going down the highway at 72mph speed limit was 80. I felt my truck shift weird from 8th to 9th. Then once it hit 10th gear I watched it go to 1st gear then felt like it entered neutral. Shortly after it went back to 10th. Shortly after behind me it was smoking and it poured fluid from the transmission.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the gear shift indicator failed to display on the instrument panel. The transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 4th gear to 1st gear. A maintenance warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a transmission range sensor circuit (TRS) failure. The vehicle was repaired with a new lead frame. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,179.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to violently jerk and hesitate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was not yet been contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping and the vehicle jerked significantly, causing the contact to sustain back pain. The power train warning light and an unknown warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Geared Up Transmissions, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed due to a transmission clutch failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. An unknown dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.

There is an issue with the transmission slipping or not engaging properly. There is a strong and often loud jolt with a hard shift at times. It will also simply not engage in the next gear other times. I can be pushing down on the gas and you can hear the engine revving but the truck isn't picking up speed. This has been the most dangerous part of the transmission issues. If I'm pulling out to cross an intersection or turn onto a street and the truck isn't moving, my family is in extreme danger of being hit by oncoming traffic. The vehicle was looked at for this issue at the Ford dealership, Mel Hambelton, in Wichita, KS previously. The issue seemed to be better, almost non-existent, after I believe they reset some code. The problem has returned in the last couple of weeks and is much worse. We have an appointment Nov. 1st to have it looked into again. I don't feel very safe driving my vehicle and we couldn't get it in for at least 3 weeks to the same dealership so we are using the Ford Dealership in Hutchinson, KS to hopefully get it fixed sooner. There is no warning/check engine associate with this issue.

The contact stated that the vehicle was sputtering, vibrating, and shifting unexpectedly before returning to normal operation. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the PCM had previously been reprogrammed under TSB: 17E01 (Power Train) prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the PCM was re-flashed; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 63,000.
