My 2017 Ford F-150 is subject to safety recall 25V236 / 25S37 for a faulty brake master cylinder that can leak fluid and cause a loss of front braking function. I contacted the dealership to have the safety repair completed, but I was informed that the necessary replacement parts are on indefinite backorder with no estimated arrival date. No interim safety defect remedy or loaner vehicle has been provided by the manufacturer. I am forced to drive a vehicle with a known, critical braking defect, posing an immediate safety risk to myself and others on the road. The manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.

In November of 2025. I took my truck, 2017 f-150 3.5 Liter engine, to Crest Ford in Flat Rock Mi. There was a recall on the master cylinder (25S37). On 5-26-2026 we were following a friend to take his car to Dean Arbour Ford in east Tawas for service. While trying to slow down for a turn my brake pedal went VERY SOFT almost to the floor. I was able to slow my truck down enough to make the turn. I then proceeded very carefully to the dealer. It was all country roads with no traffic. By the time I got to the dealer my brake pedal went all the to the floor. I almost had to use the emergency brake to stop. If this would of happened on the expressway we could of been killed or killed someone else. There was no way I could of stopped in an emergency. Upon investigation the new Master Brake Cylinder that was put on in November of 2025 failed. I was told they don't know how long it will be to get a new part because Ford requested all the new Master Cylinders to be returned. So it sounds to me that there could be alot more vehicles with bad Master Cylinders that customer had replaced and do not know they are bad. I was having no issues with my brakes on the old Master Cylinder. I am also being told that it's a warranty issue because the recall on it was closed when the Master Cylinder was replaced in November of 2025.

On two occasions I've attempted to have this recall work done at a Ford dealership. Today after holding the vehicle for the entire day, the service department at Koons Ford in Falls Church returned the vehicle without performing the recall replacement. Further, they did not notify me the work was not done leaving it to me to call to inquire as to whether the work was done. This is the second attempt at having this recall work performed at Ford dealerships. In both cases, the recall work was not performed.

Attempted to have my local Ford dealership, Sam Galloway Ford, Ft. Myers, schedule the recall on 4/14. Was told they parts are on a back order. Contacted FORD Corp. via chat with AI, then an agent asking in the Brake Master Cylinder replacement parts were on a national backorder. I was told no and they requested the name of the dealership. Pressed the dealership for an appointment. This was granted 4/23, 7:30am EST. Arrived and was checked in. At 10am was told they do not have the parts. A supervisor explained that on Monday they had to return 32 parts packages to FORD because these were defective. Contacted FORD again, they denied that the replacement parts are defective. Who is one to believe at this point?

Recall Number: Ford 25S37 / NHTSA 25V236 Issue: Unresolved safety recall due to parts unavailability for over six weeks. My vehicle is affected by Ford Recall 25S37 / NHTSA Recall 25V236 involving brake master cylinder leakage and loss of front braking performance. I took my Ford truck to a dealership on March 2, 2026, for the recall notice, but the dealer has been unable to obtain the required parts for more than six weeks. They report the parts are on back order with no estimated availability from Ford. This delay has left my vehicle with a known safety defect that increases stopping distance and crash risk. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to provide a free remedy within a reasonable time, and a six week delay exceeds that standard. I have spoken now twice with Ford, and they have not provided repair, alternative transportation, replacement, or refund options I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance because Ford has failed to provide a timely remedy for a safety critical defect, and I am unable to get the recall completed due to Ford’s parts unavailability.

See attached document for complaint. To Whom It May Concern: This letter is submitted as a formal pre-packet notification to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is not a cover letter and it is not the evidentiary submission itself. Its sole purpose is to formally notify NHTSA that a certified, multi-issue dispute packet has been prepared and is being distributed concurrently to multiple governing, regulatory, and internal oversight entities, and to coordinate assignment of a reviewing party for secure evidentiary transmission. Background and Context This matter concerns a 2017 Ford F-150, purchased and serviced through West Motor Company, Preston, Idaho, and financed through Ford Motor Credit Company LLC. Safety- and recall-related concerns affecting the vehicle have arisen and remain unresolved, directly impacting the condition and value of the collateral securing the associated Ford Credit retail installment loan. Safety / Recall Concerns and Dealer Handling The vehicle has exhibited safety-related powertrain and braking symptoms consistent with known recall or safety campaign issues. Despite written requests for a complete VIN-based recall inspection and completion of all applicable recall work, these matters were not fully resolved. Dealer handling and diversion away from identified safety concerns have impaired both vehicle safety and collateral value. Related Loan Servicing Impact Concurrently, a Ford Credit dispute has been initiated regarding loan servicing practices that materially impaired my ability to access, understand, reconcile, and resolve the account. These practices include customer-portal lockouts during delinquency, forced fee-based payment channels, inconsistent fee assessments, and non-transparent interest application. The combination of unresolved safety issues and servicing barriers undermines any reasonable path to account stabilization. Purpose of This Pre-Packet Notification This correspondence serves to formally notify NHTSA that a multi-issue certified

The recall was NOT investigated nor resolved even though the dealer had the required parts in stock. During the last two years with my 2017 Ford F150 XLT 4X4 5.4L, I've replaced the brake pads 8 times. I've also replaced the rotors on all 4 wheels. Each time, with less than 30,000 miles between needing to replace the pads, the front pads have worn down the entire pad at an unreasonable rate. I do not brake hard, and I drive mostly on highways without much traffic, so having to replace the pads every other month is excessive. With new rotors, still the pads continue wearing down to plate quickly. I've also had to replace the calipers on each wheel more than once because the caliper pins seize and will break when trying to adjust the caliper. The brakes and all the components are a major safety hazard as I'm always worrying if the brakes will function properly any give time I need to slow down. Also, the transmission shifts roughly and even downshifts without cause on occasion. It startles me when I'm driving and suddenly the transmission decides it wants to shift with a violent jolt as though briskly stepping on the brakes. I've had the transmission fluid changed twice in the last 2 years, which did not have any effect on the issue. Prior to each flush, the transmission has also developed a significant leak, which I led to the decision to flush the fluid and replace the pan and gasket. However, after doing so, the transmission continues downshifting and leaking. Once again, these issues have a significant impact on how safe I feel while driving my truck. I love my truck, but I hope my complaint helps Ford fix these little big issues and can develop a fix for future models.

I have taken my 2017 F150 to Sunrise over a period of 3 years to ‘fix’ the downshifting issue on the engine. I was constantly told I was imagining things. Then the dealer kept my truck for 3 months while is was supposedly fixed according to a recall sent out in 2022. The problem was not corrected. Then in 2025 another recall was issued for the braking system and the emergency brake light coming on. Again, back to the dealer for recall repair. And again it was NOT repaired as the light still comes again every time we are driving on the highway. Our truck has very low mileage for 2017. Please advise if you can assist us. 2017 F150 Super Crew 4x4 brought into dealership for brake master cylinder recall. ( no lights on dash) Dealership changed both the master cylinder and brake booster at no charge. The same day the vehicle was picked up, I returned it to the dealership. The vehicle was having issues with keeping straight on the highway and when I slowed down when coming to a full stop, the steering wheel turned completely to 1 side on its own. These symptoms were not present when vehicle was initially dropped off. Dealership is now telling me that the ABS module is bad and that I need to pay for that repair. The local Ford dealership submitted documentation (Special Service Support Center Assistance Request) to Ford to cover related damage, but request was denied. I called Ford corporate to re-open case and appeal decision. Ford corporate would not re-open. I requested a field service engineer to review my situation, Ford said No. I asked for good will assistance, Ford said no. I asked if Ford could do anything to assist, Ford said no. It has now been over 45 days without my vehicle. The steering wheel rotating on its own after braking is a critical safety concern. The local dealership has changed the recall to complete and left me with a vehicle that is not safe to use. They claim the ABS module is bad and I have to pay out of pocket, but they have yet to provide any documentation or reports including any OBD2 codes that indicates this is not as a result of the recall work performed. In summary, I left my vehicle at dealership for recall on master cylinder and after repairs the vehicle is having issues with related components that were not present before dropping off. All I ask is that Ford can assist by covering the needed parts and labor to get my vehicle back on the road performing safely.

Since the brake recall was performed when driving the brake light will come on in the instrument cluster. When the light comes on the brake pedal gets stiff. Like it's stuck and takes a little effort to break free. This is not present when the light is off. Before the recall was performed I never had an issue with the brakes or the light coming on. Also. The door ajar light in the instrument cluster comes on when all the doors are completely closed. Will turn off after pulling over and turning the truck off, and back on. Sometime it comes on for a whole day no matter how many times I restart it, then be fine the next time I use the truck.
