2020 Ford F-150 Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

On my 2020 Ford F150, my wife was locked in the car because we could not get the passengers door to unlock. She just had surgery on her hand, and was not able to use her hand to open the door, and I could NOT get the door to unlock! I was trying all the unlock button, but it would not unlock. The only way I could get the door open was to put down the window, and reach in and unlock the door! What if a person needed to get the open open immedially!! This is not a good situation and is a majot safty matter that needs to be fixed by FORD! I have seen this is a common problem with many F150 owners as well. Ford's recall does not include my truck. For a 4 year old truck, this is just not right!

FORD GARAGE SAID IF THEY CAN'T GET IT TO REPEAT THIS PROBLEM, THEY CAN'T FIX IT. DRIVERS SEAT WHEN PARKED RECLINES ON ITS OWN, AGAIN GARAGE COULD NOT GET IT TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM SO NOT FIXED. POSSIBLE EMERGENCY BRAKE RECALL. TRUCK GIVES NO FAULT CODES. WAS TOLD NOT TO USE CRUSE CONTROL BUT THEN IF IT DOESN'T REPEAT THE PROBLEM FORD WON'T FIX IT. I AND MY WIFE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THE TRUCK AND AM TRYING TO GET FORD TO BUY IT BACK. NO PAPERWORK GIVEN AT THE TIME OF REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY COULD FIX NOTHING. My Tailgate randomly opens while driving down the road. Several times, tools have slid out the back of the truck bed. This is a hazard to the trailing vehicles and costs me money in losses. Ford has a recall, but people are still experiencing the same issue. Ford will do nothing to guarantee the tailgate is fixed.

On 1/23/22, my passenger front door latch became frozen and will not open. I understand that this problem has been reported on similar vehicles, but the "fix" if installed does not solve the problem. The current outside temperature is 4 degrees Fahrenheit. All the remaining doors are functioning as they should, but my concern is that it will repeat or worse, not close/latch properly.

MY 2020 FORD F-150 CREW CAB XLT WITH 38000 MILES HAD A SEAT FAILURE ON MAY 05, 2021 WHEN I HIT A POTHOLE ON I-75 NEAR LEXINGTON KY WHILE TRAVELING 70 MILES PER HOUR. I COULD EAISLY SEE OVER STEERING WHEEL WITH MY 5'2" HEIGHT SINCE OUR PURCHASE OF THIS FAMILY HAULER VEHICLE MANY MONTHS AGO. AT THE IMPACT OF SMALL POTHOLE THE SEAT DROPPED ABOUT 3 INCHES, I HAD TO PULL UP WITH MY ARMS ON STEERING WHEEL TO SEE OUT WINDSHIELD TO MAKE IT TO SHOULDER. I PILED COATS UNDER ME TO MAKE IT HOME. MY HUSBAND AND I FOUND BROKEN PLASTIC UNDER SEAT? I WEIGH 105 LBS AND MY HUSBAND WEIGHS 205 LBS. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THE SEAT IN A 50,000 DOLLAR TRUCK WOULD BE MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND FAIL THAT EASY. REPAIR SHOP ADVISED THIS IS COMMON IN NEW FORD TRUCKS. VERY UNSAFE!
