The defect: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Ford F-59 commercial chassis vehicles manufactured December 17, 2009, to April 30, 2014. Corrosive environments, such as water mixed with road salt, may cause a short circuit between the electrical junction block and the mounting bracket/frame.
The risk: A short circuit may result in a fire.
The remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the junction block with an improved design, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S11. Note: Since the short may result in a fire whether the vehicle is being operated or not, owners are advised to park affected vehicles outside until they have received the recall remedy.

The defect: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 F-53 motorhome chassis and F-59 commercial chassis manufactured February 14, 2014, to March 7, 2014. The affected chassis may have incorrectly machined brake calipers that may leak brake fluid.
The risk: Brake caliper leaks will cause longer brake pedal travel and lengthened stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Ford has notified owners. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the affected brake calipers, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S14.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF FAILURE, IN A HILLY SERVICE AREA, WHICH PLACED MY DRIVER IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. MANY IN OUR INDUSTRY HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AND KNEW IT WAS A DEFECT. SEVERAL PLEAS TO THE DEALERSHIP RESULTED WITH NO HELP AT ALL THIS IS A CLEAR DEFECT THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF, HOWEVER WHEN I REPEATEDLY APPEALED TO FORDS CUSTOMERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT RELATED TO THE ABOVE REFERENCE ENGINE ISSUE, I WAS DENIED REPEATEDLY AND INTENTIONALLY DISCONNECTED ON ONE OCCASION. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT FORDS REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO DELAY OR REFUSE TO PAY THE ENGINE CLAIM. I HAVE NUMEROUS ITEMS TO ATTACH, HOWEVER YOUR SITE WILL NOT ALLOW. PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL AND I CAN SEND THE REST OF MY DOCUMENTATION. I WAS ABLE TO ATTACHTHE MECHANICS REPORT AND OUR REWARD LETTER.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

For Ford and Lincoln vehicles that require positive or negative battery terminal replacement, it is not necessary to replace the complete battery cable harness (14300 and 14301) for this concern. Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA and negative battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-BA are available for this type of repair. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, instead carefully remove the affected battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary to preserve wire length. Some rework may be necessary for some vehicle environments. Bend the new positive battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.

POWER TRAIN

On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

POWER TRAIN

Various 2013-2019 vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P264F after powertrain control module (PCM) replacement. This DTC indicates that the engine serial number (ESN) must be programmed into the PCM. The ESN is located on PTS> OASIS> Features> Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials (HvBOM), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab> powertrain menu> Service Functions> ESN.

The Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can only be used with vehicles that are factory built with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE). The master code for the Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can be retrieved from FMCDealer - Parts and Service - Parts Product Line Information - Keys/Entry Devices - Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Access to this site is granted through Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES) and Dealer Principal, General Manager or Parts and Service Director can authorize users. Once authorized the retrieval process for master code can be obtained. The master code for the Accessory Keyless Entry Keypad cannot be retrieved from the body control module(BCM) with a diagnostic tool.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)

Some vehicles may exhibit a no start condition with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and a DTC P161A after PCM replacement. This may be due to the parameter reset procedure not being properly completed. To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.
