2019 Ford Fusion Owner Complaints

I am the original single owner of a 2019, paid-off, gas Fusion with less than 54,000 miles, a spotless maintenance record, and no accident history. The vehicle suffered a sudden, instantaneous total loss of motive power. The loss of electric power steering assist and loss of power brake assist while driving through a live intersection with no warning lights or prior engine shuddering nearly caused a severe, life-threatening, or even fatal collision. The vehicle was removed from the intersection by physically pushing it with the assistance of other passing motorists and local police. I immediately called and requested towing services through the manufacturer. Services arrived 2 hours later. They started the car with no issue and drove it onto the tow truck. No engine lights or warning lights were present; the vehicle did not stutter or shake, and the vehicle had a 1/4 tank of gasoline. The vehicle was delivered directly to the Dealership. After it stalled and once it was removed from the intersection, no attempt was made to restart the vehicle until the towing service arrived. The dealership has had the vehicle for 2 weeks and claims they cannot diagnose the cause; there are no active diagnostic codes, and they have not been able to replicate the failure regarding this potentially fatal electrical shutdown. It is completely unacceptable and dangerously irresponsible for a dealership to hold a vehicle for 2 weeks, then suggest "picking it up, add some gas" simply because they haven't found any issues and "it should be fine." I cannot, in good conscience and out of protection of myself, my family, and other motorists, continue operating a vehicle that exhibits life-threatening intermittent failures.

I have an overheating problem in the engine, after visiting the dealership and repair shops it was brought to my attention that this was a constant problem with the eco-boost turbo system associated with certain ford models, I could smell a mixture of antifreeze, oil (smelling like rotten eggs) and white fumes coming from the exhaust pipe and also the air vents. This also causes the engine to overheat and triggers the check engine light.

It all started with a cylinder 3 misfire warning code, spark plugs replaced, coils replaced. Then a coolant leak. No obvious signs of a leak no cracked tubing no puddles. Just coolant leaking. Was informed I have a coolant leak intrusion and need a new engine block. I still owe $14k on this vehicle and am past my warranty. This repair is going to cost $12k. Researched and found out this is a problem for these vehicles that ford had an engineering problem with these engines.

my shifter linkage bushing broke on my 2019 fusion when i went to put car in reverse leaving me stuck in the middle of a road. This is a known issue but the recall isn’t for later year fusions even though it has the same failure and defective bushing.

While driving we noticed the engine light came on so we took it to our local mechanic. He said we were leaking coolant and it was too extensive fro him to fix so he suggested we put coolant in every few days. We researched the problem and found that these cars had a recall for this exact issue yet our VIN does not show it. We went to Ford Dealership and they confirmed we need a new engine as they connected the IDS. This vehicle was built at the Hermosillo plant, has the same 1.5L EcoBoost engine, and has experienced the exact coolant intrusion failure that Ford recalled or extended coverage for on other vehicles. I am asking Fotrd to reconsider my case because my vehicle has the identical defect despite my VIN not being included. My kids purchased this car for my wife and I in October 2025. I also included a VIN Report based on my VIN Number and if scroll to the bottom of that report maybe page 23 you will see the Recall.

My backup camera often freezes after I shift from reverse to drive. The screen turns blue and at time will have a live video of me driving showing what’s behind my car. Also my engine loses power and doesn’t accelerate as it should. There is a powertrain and censor error that shows due to the Che k engine light being on. I had the issue fixed once at a ford dealer however the issue was not resolved. It started up again 48 hours later.I have noticed that all other ford fusions have the same two issues and were included in the recalls but the 2019’s are not ? Please assist I have been trying to have these issues resolved for years with no success.

The vehicle experienced engine failure due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders on the engine. I've experienced engine misfires, rough running, check engine light, and I'm worried I'm going to see an eventual engine failure requiring engine replacement. The BIGGEST issue is I've had total loss of power in my engine while on a public road more than once, before the check engine light ever came on. Its terrifying. It is dangerous. And Ford is aware it is dangerous. Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12 for certain affected vehicles due to this exact issue, but my vehicle is past the warranty so it's SOL. The failure appears to be caused by a defect in the engine design allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber. This is clearly a widespread defect as Ford had to create their limited warranty for it. This is something that needs to be recalled for all affected vehicles experiencing coolant intrusion and engine failure because it is not safe to be on the road.

I have took it in to get it repaired about a year ago the sensor went off and got them fix but when I explain what else was happening they found nothing months down I has other people and couldn’t find the problem with my vehicle which is now a risk to drive the steering wheels gets stiff and hard to turn I have to wait for the system to kick back originally I was told it was a O2 sensor

My 2019 Ford Fusion 2.0L EcoBoost (89,000 miles) experienced a sudden, severe engine malfunction due to a known manufacturing defect. The vehicle exhibited severe engine shuddering and a harsh cold-start misfire upon ignition. A diagnostic scan revealed trouble codes P0316 (Misfire on Startup), P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire), and P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire). A mechanic verified that these codes are the result of internal coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders, exactly as documented in Ford Technical Service Bulletin TSB 19-2346. The structural design flaw in the engine block allows engine coolant to breach the cylinder head gasket area and pool inside the combustion chambers. This presents a critical safety hazard: the vehicle is at risk of sudden engine stalling while driving on public roads, a complete loss of motive power in traffic, and potential engine hydro-lock, which can cause catastrophic mechanical failure or an engine compartment fire. Ford is refusing to address this safety defect outside of warranty, leaving a hazardous vehicle on the road.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after receiving notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V440000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); that the parts were available, the local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that parts were still not available and were on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and confirmed that parts were still on back order. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

My 2019 Ford Fusion has been diagnosed with the prominent EcoBoost Coolant Intrusion defect requiring a newer 2020+ redesigned engine replacement. Ford is refusing to replace it or provide any discounts even though it's clearly a engineering defect. The vehicle has just 38,500 miles in 7 years of ownership. It has been regularly well maintained & not driven hard. This is inexcusable that Ford is not standing behind their product that has a plethora of well documented failures on these particular flawed design engines, namely the 2.0L EcoBoost that came in this vehicle.

When driving all of a sudden I feel the car loose power as I accelerated the car just reeved up and slowed down to a full stop. I put it in park turned it off sat for a few minutes. Restarted the car and put it in drive the engine RPM made a reving sounds but did not engage. I had to wait for a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived he started the car and drove it on the ram and locked it in and drove the car to my home. Tow truck driver unlocked my car and drove it off the bed of his truck. The car starts and that is it. It will dive a few feet then disengage.

All four tires separated at the bead, catastrophic tire failure. Thank goodness they went flat in the driveway and not traveling at 65 mph on the interstate. 235/50R/17. These are 80,000 mile tires and this occurred at 35,500 miles. Purchase from Costco and when we went back they basically told us they would only warranty 20% of tire even though the warranty should have been 50%.

The failure appears to be caused by a defect in the engine design allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber. I believe this is a widespread defect and should be covered for all affected vehicles experiencing coolant intrusion and engine failure.

2019 Ford Fusion with 82,362 miles- just told engine coolant leaking into the cylinder walls and engine replacement is needed. Dealer said Do not drive it! This is a known problem with this model and Ford has not recalled it. Ford is aware and have sent TS Bulletins to their service departments but why NOT recall. My daughter’s safety has been at risk and now the value is worthless Or an engine replacement. I cannot reach any leadership from Ford, just a call center which is telling me nothing can be done.

transmission cable bushing failed. I see there is a recall for older models. The shift cable came off the transmission just like the recall problem had. this left my car stuck in reverse so i could not move the car or start it after I turned it off and I could not get it off the street.
