The defect: Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain 2024 FLHX, FLHXSE, FLTRX, FLTRXSE, and FLTRXSTSE motorcycles. The voltage regulator output wire may rub on the front corner of the crankcase, exposing the wire and causing an electrical short circuit. A short can result in a loss of electrical power and drive power.
The risk: The unexpected loss of drive power and the loss of electrical power while in motion increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and as necessary, repair the voltage regulator output wire harness, and install a secondary retention strap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 23, 2024. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0186.

FORMAL COMPLAINT – 2024 CVO ROAD GLIDE ST 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION To Whom It May Concern, I am requesting immediate intervention from Harley-Davidson Corporate regarding ongoing and unresolved safety concerns with my 2024 CVO Road Glide ST 25th Anniversary Edition. The motorcycle was originally purchased through a Harley-Davidson dealership in Syracuse, New York. Since ownership, the motorcycle has experienced repeated throttle-related failures that create a serious safety concern. The issue occurs during normal riding conditions. Upon slight acceleration, the throttle unexpectedly cuts out, resulting in a complete loss of throttle response. Simultaneously, multiple warning lights illuminate across the instrument display, and the check engine light activates before the motorcycle loses power. This issue has occurred numerous times and continues despite multiple repair attempts. The motorcycle has been serviced by multiple authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships, including: * Harley-Davidson of Greeley (John Elway Harley-Davidson), Greeley, Colorado * Harley-Davidson of Perrysburg, Ohio * Harley-Davidson of Napoleon, Ohio (current servicing dealership) The motorcycle has been taken in for service on multiple occasions. Due to scheduling limitations and dealership availability, there have been only two formal repair visits specifically addressing this issue, including one instance where the motorcycle remained in the dealership’s possession for nearly a month without the problem being successfully repaired. I am extremely concerned about the safety implications of a motorcycle that loses throttle response while in operation. This defect places both the rider and surrounding motorists at risk. I am requesting: 1. Immediate review and escalation of this case by Harley-Davidson Corporate. 2. Assignment of a corporate case manager. 3. A complete engineering review of the motorcycle and repair history. 4. Written documentation of all diagnostic findings and …

The contact owns a 2024 Harley Davidson FLTRXSTSE Road Glide ST Motorcycle. The contact stated while riding 70 MPH, the motorcycle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The motorcycle was unable to restart, and the contact disconnected and reconnected the fuse box; however, there was a ticking sound upon restart. The contact was able to ride to the residence and had the motorcycle towed the next day to the dealer. The dealer was unable to determine a cause for the failure and could not duplicate the failure. The dealer towed the motorcycle back to the residence. The contact stated that while riding a week later the failure reoccurred and the motorcycle was towed back to the dealer. The contact stated that the motorcycle was connected to a diagnostic machine and blew the electrical system. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was opened. The contact was awaiting information on the possible repair from the dealer and the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 140.
