Owner-reported complaints naming the airbag system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Airbags reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 2017 Honda Accord submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 23 reports on file name it.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Accord. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 10 MPH and distracted, she crashed into a lamppost on the front driver's side of the vehicle. The air bags deployed. During the impact, the driver's seat belt failed to retract and secure the driver. No warning lights were illuminated. There was cosmetic damage but it was not severe due to the collision being minor and at low speeds. The vehicle was towed to an auto shop and the mechanic did not provide a diagnosis however, the mechanic informed the contact that the part to do the repair was unavailable. No police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

A red passenger airbag indicator appears sometimes on my dashboard. I took it to the dealership, and they said it is a airbag in the car seat that is sending an alert. The alert only occurs when a passenger is in the car in that seat, however, even then it does not always appear

I was driving straight on the freeway maintaining the speed limit when the driver side side curtain airbag and driver side seat airbag spontaneously deployed. Due to the loud noise and not expecting this to happen I was in complete shock but was able to safely move the car off the freeway with very obstructed vision due to the airbag being deployed. I lost temporary hearing in my left ear due to the loud explosive sound as well as it hitting me in the head. If it had been rush hour traffic this could have easily resulted in an accident killing myself as well as others on the road. The car was taken to a Honda dealership where it was inspected and a diagnostic test was done. There was no indication that the airbag should have deployed per the diagnostic test which concluded that no collision was suspected or detected thus deeming it as a result of a faulty sensor. There were no warning indicator lights at anytime that appeared prior to the incident. National Honda was notified by the dealership and they stated this was not their financial responsibility to repair but ours. I too contacted Honda services and field a claim and was told that we would be responsible for the cost of the repairs to fix the sensor and replace the airbag.

I received an indication on my dash that there was an issue with the SRS system. I took the vehicle to a certified Honda dealership for diagnostic treatment and it was determined that the wires on the passenger seat had been rubbing on the track that the seat slides on and consequently tore the SRS wires near the passenger seat belt causing a failure in the restraint system.

I have a 2017 Honda accord, just a little over 5 years old and 73K miles. It has never been in a car accident and I bought it new from the dealer. Last month I started to have lights that showed my lane assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation system, and road departure mitigation system were not functioning. I took my car to the dealer and was initially told that it was an SRS unit failure. Later, they changed and said the SRS unit is fine but the camera is damaged. Honda is considering this normal wear/tear and will not cover this repair even though the car has never been in an accident. The car will not pass inspection unless this is fixed. The airbags will not deploy until this is fixed and the car is therefore dangerous to drive. The camera is on back order and it will be at least a month before it can be repaired.

THEN MANUAL STATES THE AIR BAG WILL GO OFF AT UNDER 65 LBS. MY 85 LB. GRANDSON, WEIGHED JANUARY 9, 2018, MAKES THE AIR BAG GO OFF WHEN HE SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING BUT STATIONERY. THE LIGHT OFF STAYS LITE THE WHOLE TIME HE IS IN THE SEAT. I HAVE GONE ON THE INTERNET AND SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. MY DEALER JUST TELLS ME THAT THE GRANDSON SHOULD SIT IN THE BACK SEAT. CAN THIS BE FIXED TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAG FOR THE OVER 65 LB. LIMIT?

TAKATA RECALL MY PASSENGER AIRBAG CONSOLE WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. IT STAYS ON SOMETIMES AND GOES OFF SOMETIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO MY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. THEY TELL ME THE LIGHT WASN'T ON WHEN THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND TO BRING IT BACK. I TOLD THEM TO CHECK IT OUT AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE, THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK WHEN THEY HAVE MORE TIME TO CHECK IT OUT. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT BACK WHEN IT CAME BACK ON, BUT IT WENT BACK OFF AGAIN! SO BASICALLY THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHEN THE LIGHT ISN'T ON! BUT WHEN I'M ON THE WAY TO DEALER IT IS ON. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS HAS BEEN GOIN ON FOR ABOUT 2-3 MONTHS NOW. I LEASED THE VEHICLE MARCH 2017
