2011 Honda CR-V Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Faulty actuator in front passenger door, door remains locked shut and as a result the hatch is also locked shut due to connection between doors. Honda has quoted me $900 to repair including needing to destroy interior panel and pay to replace part due to issue that was recalled in 2007-09 CR-V's. Approximately mileage is 160,000.

The rear driver's side door remains unlocked unless physically locked. Locking with the fob or with buttons in the front of the vehicle does not work. This is dangerous for children as child lock does not function. A child could open the door intentionally or unintentionally and create a serious hazard for themselves as aell as other drivers. It is also dangerous as it allows criminals entry into the vehicle if the driver is not aware that this lock isn't functioning or merely forgets.

The contact's client owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his client was driving at undisclosed speeds, the driver’s side door lock actuator mechanism would independently lock and unlock on all four doors without warning. The contact's client could hear the doors locking and unlocking while driving. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where he determined that the door lock actuator was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact called Millennium Honda (286 N Franklin St, Hempstead, NY 11550) and North Shore Honda (611 Glen Cove Rd, Glen Head, NY 11545) where the contact was informed by both dealers that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

I HAVE A CRV THAT I PURCHASED NEW IN 2011. DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND SEVERAL YEARS AFTER THAT I HAD ALL THE MAINTENANCE WORK DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. RECENTLY I HAD TWO DOORS THAT I CANNOT OPEN WITH THE REMOTE OR KEY, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR AND THE HATCH BACK DOOR. HONDA WANTS TO CHARGE ME OVER $800 TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHAT IF ALL DOORS LOCK UP AND I CANNOT GET INTO MY CAR; WILL I HAVE TO PAY OVER $3000 TO GET INTO MY CAR? EVEN IF HAD EXTENDED INSURANCE WITH 3RD PARTIES, THIS IS NOT COVERED, I CHECKED. ISN'T THIS ON HONDA? *TR

WITHIN THE LAST MONTH, MY 2011 CRV HAS HAD A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCK. WHEN I HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON, THE DRIVER'S DOOR REMAINS LOCKED AND WILL ONLY TURN MANUALLY. LIKEWISE, IT WILL ONLY LOCK MANUALLY. THE OTHER DAY I COULDN'T OPEN MY TRUNK BECAUSE OF THE LOCKING ISSUE. BECAUSE OF THE UNLOCKING, THE SENSORS AFFECTED MY DOME LIGHT AND MY BATTERY DIED AFTER 3 YEARS. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALLS YET. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. *JS

THE FRONT SEAT HEAD RESTRAINTS IN THE 2011 HONDA CR-V ARE TILTED TOO FAR FORWARD, RESULTING IN SEVERE NECK STRAIN FOLLOWED BY HEADACHES. WHILE HONDA SUGGESTS POSITIONING THE SEAT TILTED BACK, THIS DOES NOT ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM AND RESULTS IN A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE MY WIFE THEN HAS DIFFICULTY SEEING OVER THE HOOD AND GRASPING THE STEERING WHEEL. A RE-DESIGN OF THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS REQUIRED SO IT DOES NOT FORCE THE HEAD FORWARD AND DOWN. *TR
