2020 Honda CR-V Fuel system Problems

While out of state for thanksgiving in 2025. after stopped for break, car started up with all of the warning lights and check engine lights on. Like front radar out, hybrid system fault and etc. took to Honda dealership near by immediate. Diagnosed (their words) customer states check engine light is on and flashing pulled codes had code p0562 and pOED. traction motor control module system voltage low and HV battery cell voltage sense circuit. went through honda trouble shooting and honda states to replace power control unit (PCU) and battery condition monitor module. test drove vehicle codes came back recommend replacing modules. includes reprogramming. They indicated it is not safe to drive as you may not able to start the car or it can die while running. This was at out of state and have to repair without options and get a rental car for a week. Tech said they never seen that before in hybrid. Local dealer back home said they can’t say they had issue before. Reached out to Honda Corporate before Christmas and they declined good will reimbursement request.

The fuel injector system failed or malfunctioned. This past Tuesday while going to merge onto the highway the car stalled and would not move beyond 40 mph which nearly led to a collision because I was unable to accelerate to merge with traffic flowing at a high speed. Immediately after this all of the dashboard warning indicatros came on. It was terrifying to say the least because we could have been in a serious auto accident. I was forced to pull into the break down lane and move along at a slow speed until I was able to navigate to a safe location. There were no lights or prior warnings leading up to the event to indicate there was a problem. I also had this same issue two years ago in 2024. Both times I have been told it is related to the fuel injectors and has cost me over $5,000 out of pocket to repair. This does not include having to find alternate transportation and missing work to have the car repaired. I spoke with the mechanic at Colonial Honda of Dartmouth,MA and asked if this was normal for a car to have the same issue with this part or to have it happen within such a short time frame and he said no that it was not common. Both times they have repaired the car.The car is currently running fine but I have fear that it will randomly happen again without warning and I may not be as fortunate to escape a collison.

The vehicle suffers from sudden "Limp Mode" activation and total loss of acceleration. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was severely compromised when the vehicle suddenly lost power while traveling at highway speeds. This occurred twice in high-speed traffic, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end collision as the vehicle could no longer maintain the flow of traffic or accelerate away from danger. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. The issue was reported to a dealer in 2024, but because the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) turned off after a restart, the dealer was unable to reproduce the failure or find stored error codes at that time. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, it was inspected by an authorized Honda dealer in 2024, but no repairs or actions were taken as they could not replicate the fault. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no prior symptoms or early warnings. In both incidents (2024 and yesterday), the engine light illuminated simultaneously with a sudden, localized loss of speed and a total inability to power up or accelerate while on the highway.

I was sitting in the car with the car cranked on and then all my warnings lights and messages started flashing and blinking. The car was also idling on it’s on. I was scared because this has never happened before. So after looking for leaks under the hood , looking online to make sense of what was happening, turning it off and back on . I slowly drove to the Honda dealer down the street with my hazards lights on. Also due to it acting as if it wasn’t about to restart when I turned it off, and the car seemed like it wanted to cut off in traffic, This just happened on Saturday 3/14. It was the only incident of this kind, and the following Monday I got a call it was my fuel pump or fuel injection, and I was told gas was in my oil . I don’t know how or why this happened. I believe my car got missed in the recall for the issues the model has. I have done research and it has displayed a few of the issues stated online. I do know I have had other issues with my car screen going completely black in the car and my car throwing on brakes and nothing was there. Just wanted you all to be aware of this since I read this make and model have these issues.

While driving, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle immediately began running sluggish with significantly reduced engine power. The vehicle was unable to maintain normal driving speed and was operating below the posted speed limit, creating a potential traffic hazard and increasing the risk of a rear-end collision from faster-moving vehicles. I was able to carefully drive the vehicle home, but the condition persisted. After arriving home, the vehicle required multiple attempts to start, indicating an ongoing issue. I scanned the vehicle using an OBD diagnostic tool and retrieved diagnostic trouble code P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low), indicating a malfunction in the fuel delivery or fuel pressure system, which may involve the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or related components. There were no prior warning signs before this incident; the warnings and loss of performance occurred suddenly while the vehicle was being driven under normal conditions. The sudden reduction in engine power created a safety concern due to the inability to maintain normal traffic speed. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, dealer, police, insurance representatives, or other third parties, but the vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request.

The same issue has happened twice. I'm driving on the highway, going maybe 60 or 65, and with no warning, the check engine light starts flashing and the car won't respond to the gas pedal. The car immediately starts to rapidly decelerate, and I can only try to get to the breakdown lane before I get rear-ended. I've been lucky (especially since my child was in the backseat both times). But when I stop the car, turn it off, then turn it on again, everything is fine. I can get back on the highway, and no problems occur. The codes are not stored, however, so I can't know what caused the problem. When this happened the first time (last year), I took it to the Honda dealer where I bought it, and they said they had never heard of this happening. When it happened the second time in January, I called Honda, spoke to an agent who gave me a case number (XXX), and said she has heard of something like this from other drivers, but the solutions were all different, so she couldn't say what would fix it for me. I did some internet research, and found other drivers who describe the exact same issue: [XXX] I've switched to premium gasoline ($$) and won't let it get lower than 1/4 full, and have an OBDII scanner in my glove compartment ready to go if it happens again. That said, this is a very dangerous defect, and I feel unsafe in my car. I am disturbed that a problem of with such potentially serious consequences has no solution that anyone can offer me. At approximately 75,000 miles, my 2020 Honda CR-V began experiencing serious engine performance issues, including jerking, hesitation, and rough operation while driving. The check engine warning light began flashing, indicating an active engine misfire. During these events, the vehicle’s acceleration and engine response became unpredictable. Only traveling at 5 mph. The ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced, and then replaced again, by an independent mechanic. After the most recent repair, the vehicle was test driven and the issue persisted. A diagnostic scan shows the engine is running rich, which mechanics stated points to a fuel injector malfunction. Based on diagnostic results, repeated test drives, and elimination of ignition components as the cause, the fuel injector system is the component believed to have failed. This malfunction poses a safety risk because a misfiring engine can cause sudden loss of power, hesitation during acceleration, and unpredictable vehicle behavior, especially during merging, passing, or driving in traffic. The issue has been reproduced and reviewed by multiple mechanics, who reached the same conclusion regarding a fuel injector related failure. Prior to and during the failure, the vehicle exhibited jerking, hesitation, rough operation, and a flashing check engine light. These symptoms have continued despite repairs. The fuel injector failure is the subject of an active recall affecting this make, model, and year, however my VIN is not included in the recall. Despite this exclusion, my vehicle is exhibiting the same symptoms, misfire behavior, and diagnostic indicators addressed by the recall. The exact reason my VIN is excluded from the recall is unknown, but the evidence indicates a fuel injector related defect affecting safe operation of the vehicle.

My car lost roughly half its power while traveling in heavy traffic on the interstate. The engine light in the lower left hand corner of the dash began blinking at the same time. I was able to get off the interstate whereupon I turned the car off and then restarted it. This cured the problem and it has not happened in the week since. No one has inspected the problem, but I have an appointment with the dealer on November 4, 2025.

Fuel pump. The mechanic did give me back the fuel pump. Independent mechanic documented repairs following Honda's instructions. There was no warning prior to the fuel pump stopping me dead in my tracks. I was at an intersection coming out of a busy parking lot. I was able to get to my nearby home in limp mode until the car could be looked at by my mobile mechanic. I called Honda and they said go ahead and have the mobile mechanic repair the vehicle.

My car's estimated fuel remaining changed from 1/4 tank to dangerously low within a few minutes. It seemed to work ok after I filled it, but my car failed to run when the car insisted that about a quarter tank of fuel was present when I was driving on a highway after dark - I managed to get safely over to the edge before it stopped moving. The repair shop I towed it to checked and found that the fuel pump and attached sensor had failed, in a car that had only 42,961 miles. I would also add that the Honda dealer in Tulsa refused to give me and my husband any kind of estimate over the phone, saying only that the we had to bring the car there for them to inspect, and they were not permitted to give repair estimates over the phone.

While driving down the freeway at around 60 mph, I sharply accelerated to negotiate traffic and my vehicle lost power and the check engine light was flashing. I was able to roll to an exit ramp where i could barely get up a slight incline. I was able to get out of traffic but at speed of less than 5 mph. It sounded like the vehicle was running on two cylinders. I pulled over and turned the car off. I was able to re-start the car after which it ran normally. I went directly to the dealership where they were unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue.

Hi pressure fuel pump stopped working while driving. My mechanic gave me the defective part in case someone wanted to inspect it. At the time of failure, the car suddenly entered "limp" mode and fortunately I was able to pull over to the side. When I tried to get moving, the engine jerked and sputtered to a maximum speed of about 15 mph. All the lights on the dashboard lit up and flashed. Warnings for many different types of problems displayed, but nothing specific about the fuel pump. There were no warnings previous to the sudden part failure. On the phone, my mechanic immediately told me that it was likely a well-known problem with Honda CRV's. He'd repaired other CRVs with the same problem. A Honda agent told me on the phone "yes" this is a common problem. However she said my CRV is not within the range of VIN numbers under recall. Therefore, I am not eligible for reimbursement at this time. That Honda Agent told me to submit my problem through the NHTSA website and then keep checking to see if my VIN number is eventually within the numbers. Once that is the case I will be reimbursed. I had my trusted mechanic make the repair, per Honda's direction (they said since I'm far away from a dealership and the car is driveable, just have it repaired by my mobile mechanic). Since the repair was completed, it is working fine although I now average 3 mpg less than before the repair.

I was driving on the freeway [XXX] my car speed was slowing down even as I had the gas pedal pressed to the floor. I was heading off the freeway when the speed picked up and car was working again. On a separate incident March 2024 my daughter borrowed my car and she described the same issue and again. The car would not speed up despite her pressing the gas pedal. Most recent [XXX]. Put car in reverse and step on gas and zero movement. Put it back in park and back in reverse and car once again worked as normal. No check engine lights so I was told no diagnostics could be performed. I see all the recalls for these problems but my vin number is not included. I’m worried all the time I drive my disabled son around his service dog and my young grandchildren ages [XXX] ,and [XXX] . Please see if you can help me get my car fixed.
