Rear lift hatch has failed. Everytime when opening the trunk rear hatch door it refuses to stay open and comes back down closing. This closing happens even with resistance and would injure or kill a child. The trunk shuts unless significant force is out upon it to stay open in which case case it sags and does not remain open at normal height. This is a part failure and Honda should recall for safety and replace.
The passenger sliding door randomly will not close with close button. The door will get 1/2-2/3 closed and then re-open. This happens intermittently and under no particular circumstances. There is occasionally a "door problem" light that flashes on the dash while driving.
Water entered rear panel causing tailgate control module to get wet and stop working. This caused my tailgate to have no power and unable to close due to the latch being stuck in a closed position. Door was open unable to latch closed while I had to drive the vehicle to a mechanic.
While operating the left power sliding door of my 2019 Honda Odyssey, the door came off its tracks during normal use. As the door disengaged, the rear-side glass shattered. The failure required replacement of the power sliding door drive motor, center roller, center roller rail assembly, and rear glass. Broken glass was scattered inside and outside the vehicle, and I sustained a small cut on my hand while cleaning up the shattered glass. The vehicle had approximately 78,000 miles. I believe a power sliding door should not come off its track during normal operation, and this created a safety hazard to due the shattered glass and potential for occupant injury. After the door came off its track and the glass shattered, I was unable to close or secure the sliding door. The vehicle could not be safely operated with the door in that condition, creating an additional safety concern. I had to take the vehicle around the corner to the closest car repair shop for help with getting the door to shut- they couldn't get the door to shut without cutting the cord.
The front camera behind the rear view mirror comes up with code and the cruise control will not work and the lane departure system and the forward Collision system and adaptive cruise control. The front camera issue can only be repaired by replacing the camera between 800 and 1500 cost to purchase the camera plus a 5 to $700 Adas aiming at the dealership and I don't feel that that's correct being that almost every single Honda Odyssey I've touched in my repair shop from 2018 till current has this code coming up. Sometimes I can put a scan tool on the vehicle and clear out the code and do a dynamic aim and the vehicle will correct itself but it will come back relatively quickly and sometimes it's impossible and the camera needs to be changed before anything can be done and all of those systems are deactivated until the front forward facing camera has been replaced. I am a mechanic I service a lot of these Honda Odysseys I have a list of items that I find almost every single one has a problem with this particular vehicle I'm sending in about is my personal vehicle and it has had numerous issues that had nothing to do with the operators of the vehicle solely to do with quality of the vehicle front camera is one the sliding door cable housing collapsing too the rear shocks snapping apart at under 50,000 miles front strut mounts going bad at 60,000 miles. There's also an issue with the driver's seat belts fraying in my car in particular frayed in under 12,000 miles More troubling is that every customer I send to the dealer to get things repaired under warranty comes back weather repaired or not without a single item being recorded by the dealer invariably what ends up happening is the dealer will reset some parameter and make the message or error go away. They will then return the car without any documentation stating anything. Once the customer brings it back after warranty is up the dealer charges to replace a repair because the customer has no proof of prior complaint
My vehicle previously received Safety Recall 20V-437 related to the sliding door handle cable assembly. After the recall repair was completed, the driver's side power sliding door has again begun exhibiting abnormal behavior. The driver's side sliding door does not consistently open fully and has failed to close properly on more than 20 occasions. The problem is reproducible and has become increasingly frequent. On multiple occasions, the power sliding door has also begun closing while children were entering the vehicle, requiring intervention to prevent contact. This condition creates a safety concern because occupants may believe the door has opened or closed properly when it has not. It also creates a risk of injury when the door unexpectedly changes direction or begins closing during entry or exit. The affected component appears to be the driver's side power sliding door system and related latching/closing mechanism. The vehicle has not yet been inspected for this recurrence because Honda advised that a dealer diagnosis is required to determine whether the current condition is related to the prior recall repair. There were no warning lights or dashboard messages associated with the condition. Because this vehicle previously received a safety recall repair addressing sliding door operation and latching concerns, I am reporting the recurrence of similar symptoms for review.
Both power sliding doors are malfunctioning, with the left side being critical. The dashboard intermittently flashes "Door Open" and "Left Sliding Door Problem" warnings during travel, regardless of speed or road conditions (highway, low-speed, and cornering). A certified Honda technician (Case #16203079) confirmed DTC B2037 is stored for the left sliding door ratchet switch. The diagnostic report explicitly states the rear latch is failed/stuck in the open position, resulting in a half-latched state that "CAN OPEN WHILE DRIVING." The right door also shows intermittent issues with the ratchet switch and pinch sensor. Despite this documented, life-threatening safety defect, American Honda has refused repair assistance. I have video evidence of the warnings flashing while in motion.
Both rear power sliding doors on my 2019 Honda Odyssey failed at approximately 74,000 miles. The sliding door motors can be heard running, but the doors do not move and cannot be opened normally. The doors are available for inspection upon request. This failure prevents rear passengers from safely exiting the vehicle. In an emergency situation, this could prevent evacuation and creates a serious safety risk, especially when transporting children or passengers seated in the rear. A dashboard warning message related to the sliding doors appeared at the time of failure. The condition occurs consistently on both doors. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Honda dealer, who confirmed a malfunction in the sliding door system and provided a repair estimate. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. This appears to be a significant sliding door system failure affecting both rear doors simultaneously.
Water is pooling in trunk of van. There appears to be a failed body weld or seam sealant in the trunk area. Vehicle has not been in any incidents since purchased new. Spoke to a service adviser for Honda and they indicated a seam sealant may have failed as well. Have searched internet and found this is occurring frequently with this model.
My driver sliding door will not open or close manually or automatically. This is concerning because if I was to ever get in a wreck and my van was struck on the passenger side, we wouldn’t be able to get out of the car because the other door won’t open. I did see that 107,000 vehicles were recalled due to this same problem I’m having. Obviously looking online, this is affecting more than 107,000… I already had to fix my passenger sliding door due to a faulty sensor. What next?
Improper seal on the seam (?) above let water leak into my power tailgate control module. It caused all the dash lights to sporadically rapidly flash, told me I have a transmission problem and my blind spot warning didn’t work right. Pulled out the tailgate module to find water in the module with a failed circuit board. Also wires leading into the module were wet
The power sliding door on the driver’s side failed and will not open, even manually. The mechanism engages and stops after about an inch. This creates a significant safety risk because passengers cannot exit through the door in an emergency. This appears to be a widespread defect in 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey models. Repair cost is approximately $1,000. Honda needs to address this as a safety issue.
Power Tailgate Problem is going off repeatedly while car is on. Power tailgate does not open with remote or button inside car. There seems to be water leaking in tailgate seams. The constant beeping of problem popping up is startling and distracting to driver.
The rear power liftgate on our 2019 Honda Odyssey has repeatedly closed automatically while the vehicle is parked on a slope, including our driveway. This has occurred multiple times, and in one instance, the door struck me on the head. The issue seems to be gravity-related and may involve a malfunction in the tailgate spring or motor system. I reported this to the dealership, and they were unable to replicate the issue. However, I have video evidence and found that Honda issued Service Bulletin 22-018, which may be related. The dealership has not confirmed whether this bulletin applies to our vehicle. This is a serious safety concern, especially for families with children or elderly passengers. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this issue is widespread and whether a recall or further guidance is warranted.
Read Driver side power sliding door, got stuck halfway open. I've had this happen on the passenger side as well, but after turning the car off, putting power doors to manual, and rocking it back and forth, I got it fixed no problem and ended up having to replace a bump sensor on the door and it resolved. I thought that's what was going on when it happened to my driver side door as well. However after I turned the car off, and turned the doors to manual it still wouldn't close. I turned them back to automatic, turned the car back on, and the door proceeded to start going back, it rocked violently then broke the rear window and before stopping again. I read this track roller has been a problem for MANY users of this van and in some cases the entire door has fallen off because of it.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that whenever it rained, water was leaking into the vehicle and caused the rear door circuit board and power module to short circuit. The contact stated that the rear door was inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was an ongoing issue which started a year after purchasing the vehicle new. The contact stated that whenever it rained the rear door failed to function normally. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times and the dealer was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer for the recent failure. The dealer diagnosed that water had entered the vehicle from the roof and had accumulated in the rear door near the electrical circuits. The dealer determined that the rear door power module and circuit board needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Both sliding doors fail to stay latched. Taking a turn or hitting a bump will cause them to open. The warning alarm beeps constantly unless I turn off power doors switch. This is a constant situation.
On a rainy day, the power tailgate began to malfunction. First it would open part of the way, beep, and then close, then when trying again it would go move back and forth on its own, and then close. Trying it again later, however, it completely stopped working to the point where we had to manually force it to open and close, only the latch would work. The heads-up display showed power tailgate error. On my attempt to troubleshoot I found that water had leaked into the area behind the driver's-side rear inside body panel where the rear control module and fuse housing is located, which I noticed was covered with water. I was able to partially dry this. Later on the rear tailgate started working again briefly but the problem returned and now it no longer works. I contacted Honda USA about this issue and they told me there is no recall for this, however when I did a google search this issue immediately pops up and seems to be a common manufacturing safety problem that has not been addressed.
The car is 2019 and has about 23k miles and the tailgate malfunctioned and is completely inoperable. Based on my visit to the Lou Sobh Honda dealer in Cumming, GA, I was told that there is a crack in the body that needs to be sealed and water from there caused the control board to be exposed and get "fried". this is not something I would expect to have a warranty. At least there should be some responsibility to get this fixed, first time for free or whatever. If the diagnostics is replacing tailgate module and reseal, I feel Honda should take some ownership on this. I have read online that many drivers have the same issue. When asked to Honda customer service, I was told there is "No campaign". If there is none, I want to create one. Have to spend 1000$s on a repair that has nothing to do with my driving or care is meaningless.
The power tail gate stopped working on 1/28/2025. After diagnosis the power tail gate and it's controls on passenger side rear control panel it is observed that there is water on the controls module. Part 74970-THR-A12Control Module for tailgate has been taken out and found that the water coming though it's sockets. The $200 new control module will temporarily fix the issue but the defective rear body seam seals made of polyurethane that allow water to leak into the rear driver’s side panels can cause the following issues. The tailgate opens and closes at random, The tailgate stays open or fails to close, Tailgate short circuits and causes a fire, Water leaks cause mold and rusting. I request Honda to take responsibility of the issue and fix the problem making sure it meet the safety standards.
Driver side, passenger sliding door does not properly close at times. When closing, it seems the sensor is sensing blockage and will not shut fully but re-opens the door again and again. It will mentally close after the 4th or 5th time. I typically will have to get out and manually push the sliding door shut. This happens at least a few times a week. I have noticed it around summer of 2024. It is especially concerning when trying to load kids up quickly to leave during the evenings for safety reasons to only have the doors keep opening when trying to close. Upon sharing with other friends and family, they also experience the same issue.
The latch system on the back hatch has a defect that allows water intrusion which shorts out the electrical board, and renders it unusable. It has randomly opened while driving. Now, the hatch will not manually open even when you take off the handle from the inside. It is a safety issue, and while searching for answers, you can see that this is a universal issue. The Honda dealership confirmed that this is an issue, and the fix is well over $1,000. There were no warnings about this, even when it randomly opened on its own and wouldn't shut. This has been an ongoing issue since we purchased the vehicle in 2023. It is available for inspection.

The driver’s side sliding door suddenly ceased operating in October 2024. It will sometimes open halfway or partially close, but on most attempts will only open about an inch. It works manually, but is very hard to pull.
Rear power tailgate module fried due to moisture intrusion. Trunk will not close. Lock stuck in closed position.
