Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

What owners report

Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded

  • Brakes240.0%
  • Fuel system120.0%
  • Seat belts120.0%
  • Visibility120.0%

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Safety recalls

No recalls in our database for this model year

That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

I HAVE A 2000 ISUZU PICK-UP HOMBRE AND I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT DISC BRAKES THAT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT SEEMED THAT EVERYTIME I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES, I HAD A HARD PUSH THEN SHORTLY AFTWARDS, THE BRAKES GAVE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THIS FELT LIKE THE ABS WAS KICKING IN. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN ISUZU DEALER, THEY SAID THE BRAKES ARE A "WEAR" ITEM AND NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT BRAKES AND TRUCKS AND CHANGED MANY DISC'S, SO I LOOKED TO SEE IF I COULD FIND WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. TO MY SURPRISE, THE DISC'S (ALL FOUR) WERE LARGER THAN THE ROTOR AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE OVER 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THAT BEING OVERSIZED, THE TOP OF EACH BRAKE PAD LAPPED OVER THE ROTOR APPROXIMATELY 1/8 TO 1/4 INCH. THIS WEAR PATTERN CAUSED THE TOP OF EACH DISC TO OVERLAP THE TOP OF EACH ROTOR AND THIS TOP WAS ENGAGING PRIOR TO THE DISC MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR, WHICH LEAD TO THE DELAY OF ENGAGEMENT OF THE FULL DISC ON THE ROTOR. THIS ALSO MADE THE HARD CONTACT THEN ENGAGEMENT OF THE REST OF EACH DISC WHICH FELT LIKE THE ABS ACTIVATING. THE AMOUNT OF WEAR TO THE NON-WEAR ON THE TOP OF THE BREAK WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 INCH. I FILED OFF THE TOP OF EACH DISC TO GIVE A CLEAN SURFACE AND ROTOR CONTACT AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NOW THE ABS COMES ON INTERMITENTLY. THIS OVERHANG ON THE ROTOR TOP DUE TO THE OVERSIZE OF THE DISC'S IS A STRANGE SENSATION WHICH COULD GIVE A FALSE SENCE OF SECURITY, ESPECIALLY IF A SUDDEN STOP OCCURRED. IT ALSO GIVES A LOSS OF CONTROL ALONG WITH THE FALSE SENCE OF SECURITY. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND IT SURELY IS A SUBSTANTIAL HAZARD FOR THE CONSUMER. I CONTACTED ISUZU, BUT THEY BLEW IT OFF AS A "FREEK OCCURANCE". SOUNDS FAMILIAR AS A CPSC INVESTIGAOR WHO HAS RECALLED A LOT OF PRODUCTS THAT THE MANUFACTURER ATTRIBUTE TO A FREEK OCCURRANCE. THIS IS A POSSIBLE LIFE THREATING DEFECT. SINCERELY

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The following information is provided to clearly explain Isuzu’s policy for control module (engine, transmission, antilock brake, instrument panel, body control, power interface, etc.) reprogramming. Control module calibrations are regularly updated for many reasons. These reasons may include, but are not limited to: model year change, software corrections, certification compliance, product improvement and specific application requirements. However, the mere existence of a newer control module calibration does not necessarily mean that warranty coverage exists or that the calibration must be installed. It is not our policy to update control modules, under warranty or after warranty, based solely on the availability of a newer calibration file. Below are our guidelines for reprogramming control modules.

IB13-R-001G

This bulletin outlines the procedures for using the Alpine Exchange Program (the "Exchange Program"). The Exchange Program must be used when any Alpine radio or other component covered by this bulletin is repaired under warranty and may also be used for radio and component repairs not covered under warranty. Contact Alpine directly for pricing and payment methods applicable to radio and component repairs not covered under warranty.

EQUIPMENT

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. (ICTA) is providing the following procedural recommendations to improve dealer efficiency when submitting Parts Warranty claims. We strongly recommend dealers follow these procedures in order to avoid delays in Parts Warranty claim payments and/or claim chargeback. This bulletin was revised to add a Parts Warranty Form

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
