2015 Jeep Cherokee Problems

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, the transmission independently shifted to neutral(N). The power train warning light was illuminated. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with range sensor failure. The contact was informed that the range sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the A/C unit while in operation. The contact also stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle shifted into neutral(N) without warning and rolled backward. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train) and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer initially informed the contact that the vehicle was included in the recall; however, the contact was later informed that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 144,233.

I have a complaint concerning the 3.2L V6 Pentastar engine. A repair was necessary for a manufacturer KNOWN fault concerning factory installation using improperly hardened steel for the Rocker arms/lifters needle bearings, AKA, “The Pentastar Tick”. Rocker arms collapse and cause gouging/scoring damage to the intake camshafts. I had to pay for repairs totaling $5091.05 for this manufacturer’s known and acknowledged, factory mistake. -Copy of final invoice attached.. I have tried to get help from Jeep/Stellantis and assistance to make these expensive repairs. I was told no assistance was possible even though the factory recognized the steel used for the needle bearings that held the rocker arm did not meet strength requirements. Chrysler/Stellantis upgraded needle bearings using properly hardened steel to resolve their factory installation error. I believe Chrysler/Stellantis owes me compensation for costs associated with this repair.

Vehicle is overheating, have had issues right after purchasing from carmax burbank and issues after the recall was worked on at van nuys jeep dealership.

My Jeep caught on fire in the area of the power lift gate control module . A fire department report was filed.

Check engine light on 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport turned on, vehicle "went limp". Pulled over, turned car off, waited, turned car back on. Happened again taking car to dealership. The dealership said "code for trans range sensor p1726. reset trans and test drove. code did not come back". Same thing happened again a week later. Took it to Firestone, code was "TCM P1726-00 Transmission Manage Sensor "C" circuit High. They said it sounded like the Recall Number 16V529000/S55. I took it back to the dealership, they said the recall, despite being for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee didn't apply and noted "Same code P1726 set in TCM. Going to need range sensor and TCM replaced."

Electric parking brake light keeps coming on also the shifters light comes on a lot as well

Issues started in 2025 when the emergency brake system started engaging by itself. I was at a stop light when it happened the first time. Then it happened again in our driveway and we ended up having to unplug the battery to get it to turn off. Then on 09.14.2026 I was at a customers home and I put it in park got out and when I got back in to drive off I got the ((P)) light along with the warning to get it serviced. Please see pictures. This popped up on all occasions. I ended up having to tow the jeep to my mechanic. Please see pictures of the module. Water under my spare tire and corrosion on the part.

After learning of the recall for the lift gate module because of water intrusions of multiple points. The wiring harness to the lift gate module was serverly corroded and had to be replaced. The original fix, without the corrosion on the harness, was the place a piece of plastic over the module. That recall and fix did nothing to address the issues of multiple points of water intrusions. From body seems, the seal around the hatch, and around the tail light(s). There is more than one harness, and more than one module in the tire well. The multiple water leaks, that can and have affected an electrical component the was deemed as being a potential to start a fire, and none of the others in there are. There needs to be a recall on the water leaks, from their poor design! I have saw first hand how badly the harness they HAD to replace, along with the lift gate module. Because of the very seriousness of the corrosion. Where they not only replaced both of them, but also had to relocate the lift gate module, because of the evidence of the amount on water that has been entering the cargo, and wheel well areas! À 11 year old vehicle, from the information I have read up on, many with this same production years are also having the issues of water intrusions! Hold them responsible, instead of letting them cut corners of just trying to put a umbrella over there recall! I don't have pictures now, or when I took it to the dealership originally for the recall. But I am willing to take pictures, as I'm still in the process of disassembly the interior to try and pin point all the water intrusions! The dealership I took it to for the recall work, said they are "not aware of any water intrusions on this vehicle". That's a big problem!!

The contact stated that the failures began after the vehicle had been repaired under a tailgate recall. The vehicle was taken to another dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer advised the contact to return to the previous dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,600.

My Jeep is disabled due to a drivetrain failure covered under Jeep’s XJ1 Warranty Extension. The required part is on extended backorder (weeks) and Jeep is unable to provide a remedy or transportation while the vehicle is inoperable. This results in a safety hazard and unreasonable delay of repair. Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failure under warranty extension XJ1. Vehicle is disabled and cannot be safely driven. Jeep is unable to provide the part required for repair, resulting in an unreasonable delay of remedy.

The driver's side rear seat air bag deployed the following day. The air bag warning light was illuminated. There were no injuries reported. The local dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the insurance company for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The insurance company was contacted and declined the claim. The failure mileage was approximately 280,000.

The light just came on

The car has been suddenly lurching backward and forward in traffic/ while driving, moving forward and backwards unexpectantly and not accelerating at an expected rate, causing other vehicles almost to hit me about 4 times within 1 week starting last week around 12/8/25, because my vehicle is not moving at the expected rate during yielding, changing lanes, etc. I took it to the shop and reported this issue, and they informed me that this vehicle has serious oil leaks and multiple parts that have failed involving the oil filter housing, engine valve cover, engine intake manifold gasket, etc. I have attached a list of parts that have failed in this vehicle from the repair shop for your records and can make available the parts upon request. My repair shop has told me that they have had to repair MULTIPLE other cars of this make and model for the same reason/ failed parts across multiple years up to until about 2021, but that the company repaired it on more current models, which clearly indicates that this is a KNOWN issue for prior models. This company has an obligation to protect its customers and conduct a full recall on prior models to correct this issue, in order to prevent serious injury or death of the public! I trust you will investigate this matter thoroughly.

The car continues to have an issue with the same recalls that were priorly fixed but continued to happen after a few years. The last repair for this recall only lasted six months and I now need to replace the exact same parts again. The vehicle is completely faulty. The computer control valve for the transmission continues to fail. My vehicle will say service transmission, and then you cannot switch gears and becomes undrivable until you clear the codes or replace the parts.... again.

4wd overheating. Owned this Jeep for 8 years and had it in multiple (5x plus) times for service 4wd code. 2 different dealerships cannot fix the issue. Now they are telling me just drive it and not worry about it or trade it in. It smells hot and something burning. I have the life time max care warranty on it. The codes I get are the 4wd is unavailable overheated and service 4wd. They have replaced multiple parts and still not working. I will be just sitting idle and it comes on.

When it rains water leaks into my cargo area filling up my spare tire well. it also soakes the insulation in the sides of vehicle. It has cause a short in the rear ligts on vehicle which I am not sure but could cause a fire or electrical failure. Has there been any recalls for such . Last occured on or about

Warning lights came on, unable to see speedometer screen. Mechanic removed and replaced front wheel speed sensor and abs wheel sensor.

Loss of power while driving

The contact sustained minor cuts but did not receive medical attention. The contact stated that the glass shattered obstructing her view. Seat is become loose and has to be hand tightened on. a regular basis. Taken to dealer they say it’s not under my warranty and that the insulation trim is worn out that’s why it’s becoming loose. They are saying at the dealership and with Chrysler that it is not a safety issue and therefor can’t be put under the manufacture warranty

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LEFT THE ROAD. I SWERVED TO MISS A DOG. I HAD MY SEATBELT ON DURING THIS ACCIDENT HOWEVER MY HEAD (TOP, RIGHT FRONT OF MY HEAD) HIT THE WINDSHIELD GLASS AND THE GLASS BROKE/SHATTERED. MY HAIR WAS CAUGHT IN THE BROKEN CRACKS OF THE GLASS ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MY HAIR WAS PULLED OUT OF MY HEAD, I GUESS WHEN THE SEATBELT PULLED ME BACK INTO POSITION IT MANAGED TO KEEP MY HAIR LODGED. I GOT SMALL PIECES OF GLASS OUT OF MY SCALP FOR A WEEK. I HAD OTHER INJURIES AS WELL. EVERY SINGLE AIRBAG OF THIS CAR WAS DEPLOYED AND MY VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS ONLY GOING AROUND 45 MPH. I AM THANKFUL TO BE HERE SHARING THIS PASSAGE. I JUST HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT HOW I MANAGED TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE MY SEATBELT WAS ON MY BODY AND THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*DT*JB

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER SUCTION/DISCHARGE HOSE FRACTURED, CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, AND CAUSED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V676000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
