2020 Jeep Wrangler Engine Problems

My Jeep Wrangler currently has a very strong fuel smell, and when the AC is on the smell is very strong inside the cabin. My kids and I became Ill and had headaches. It's been parked for two weeks. Pending an inspection by an independent mechanic. We came across an article stating that a lot of 2020 Jeep Wranglers with 2.0L motors were recalled because of the same issue but my Jeep was not recalled and I'm having the same issue. Is there anything you can do to help me?

The 2.0L Turbo engine suffers from premature failures. Jeep issued a TSB over leaking around the water pump, but did not notify owners. My engine overheated due to low coolant (there's no low coolant warning), and the temperature gauge proves to be unreliable. My engine suffered a head gasket failure due to overheating, while within the factory warranty period, and Jeep would not honor their warranty. My Jeep only has 33,700 miles on it, and the failure initially happened in 2024. I spent over a year going back and forth with Jeep, and in the end, they simply stopped responding. BTW, tried to upload 2 small .JPG files, but repeatedly said "upload failed".

Absolutely terrible gasoline vapor filling the inside cabin of the vehicle causing burning eyes, nausea and feeing ill. Checked for fuel, leak, leakage recall, while there was one it wasn’t including our VIN, however, after inspection and repair, it is the exact same damage as what was indicated in the recall. Looking for a full refund for repair and compensation for danger, discomfort, safety and inconvenience of vehicle not being included in the original recall. I am appalled and insulted that JEEP dealerships aren’t more more proactive in having to appeal these dangerous situations.

While driving on the highway, the check engine light illuminated. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes later, the battery warning light came on. Upon exiting the highway and coming to a stop at an intersection, the automatic engine Start/Stop system engaged and shut down the engine. When attempting to safely proceed, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure due to the 48V mild-hybrid eTorque system failing to restart the engine. The vehicle refused to crank, would not shift, and became entirely disabled and stranded in the middle of a live intersection, creating an extreme safety and collision hazard. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership, where technicians officially confirmed the failure. The dealer diagnosed the root cause as an internal electrical failure of the Motor Generator Unit (MGU / Belt-Driven Hybrid Starter Generator Assembly), which completely disabled the vehicle's charging and hybrid restart capabilities. The failed component is available for inspection.

On July 1,2026 , My 2020 Jeep wrangler jl sport died in the middle of traffic causing a safety issue. I was not able to start my jeep and move out of traffic. I was able to disable the transmission and roll out of the road. But it was very dangerous while cars were passing me and coming towards me. Also before I was able to disable to roll my steering column was locked. The cause of this safety issue is the set up of the batteries. A jeep has 2 batteries a main and underneath an auxillary battery. Without any kind of warning your battery can die caused by the drain of the auxillary battery on the main battery causing the main battery to just stop working without notice. This is the 2nd time this happened.I had to call a tow truck both times. 1st time 4/14/24, then on 07/02/2026 I had it towed to the same dealership as the time before. This is an on going issue with jeeps that have the 2 batteries. Not only is it unsafe but a costly issue.

Failed emission test and the car is 6 years old. I have had this car in for the death wobble and told them the engine fan stays on. It has done this for years. Dealer kept stating it just had to cool off. The Jeep vehicles that have the deal wobble should be recalled very dangerous. I have videos I can submit.

On April 13, 2026, at approximately 67,312 miles, my vehicle experienced a fuel system failure when the main fuel supply line leading to the high-pressure fuel pump cracked and began actively leaking raw gasoline onto the top of the transmission in the engine compartment. There were no prior dashboard warning lights or error messages; the only symptom leading up to the failure was a extremely strong odor of raw gasoline coming from the engine bay area. I believed this fuel leak created an immediate, severe risk of an engine compartment fire. I immediately brought the vehicle to an authorized factory dealership, where certified technicians acting on behalf of the manufacturer inspected the system, confirmed the active leak emitting raw fuel odors, and successfully removed and replaced the failed supply line to resolve the issue. If needed, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Furthermore, my vehicle is factory-equipped with the 2.0L Turbo engine, meaning this failure is identical to the documented fire hazard covered under FCA Safety Recall Y10 (NHTSA Campaign 21V-665). Even though my specific production sequence was not actively flagged under the manufacturer's recall lookup system, I believe the component failed in the exact same hazardous manner described in the official recall.

TSB 07–0 01–22REVB on August 2022 upgraded to ZD8 December 2022 official open recall on January 2023. Both bolts fell off the water inlet engine overheated without antifreeze or water steering locked and entire engine needs to be replaced. Jeep wrangler 2.0T VIN number was not on the recall list. Please explain why not and what we can do about getting this covered.

The engine in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara suddenly failed and was diagnosed by the dealership as a complete internal failure involving the lifters and camshaft. The dealership explained that this type of failure can spread metal fragments throughout the oil system, requiring a full engine replacement. Had to take my 2020 wrangler in to have accessory battery replaced as it had drained my newly purchased battery and my car wouldn’t start. Repair shop replaced both batteries and about a week later the check engine light came on for about 2 minutes then went off so I chalked it up to the battery replacement. It didn’t come back on again until about 3 weeks later when I started feeling a slip when going in to second gear. When I got home after having that issue I noticed a small collection of what looked to me like transmission fluid on my garage floor so I had the car towed to the repair shop again. They informed me that engine oil was mixing with coolant due to a bad oil cooler. Between that diagnosis and my car completely breaking down and cracking my engine block the car was driven a total of 14 miles at the most. There was never any other signs prior to me taking it to the shop that the oil cooler had gone bad and even when they replaced the batteries no codes came up for the bad oil cooler and nobody noticed anything while working in the area. . Since then I have learned that this has been an ongoing issue with the wrangler since at least 2012 models and there has been several class action suits that were settled out of court I’m assuming so they don’t have to spend the money recalling and repairing every affected vehicle and finding a fix for future models. Meanwhile I have only had my car for 2 years as of last week and now am being charged $15000 $8000 of which I have to pay up front to even find out how long the parts needed will be on back order. Could be a week could be a year. Not to mention that I have no car to drive and a car payment to make while I wait. This needs to be fixed as these cars are overheating out of nowhere and shutting down when it does. It’s a safety issue as well as a consumer issue.

My vehicle had a rough idling and then flashed an autostart symbol and stated on the dashboard that my autodash has been disabled. Later that day I drove my vehicle again, then the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and every light was on and my car went limp. I pulled over on the side of the road and let my car stay off thinking it would help. Waited some time and tried to turn it on and it wouldnt turn back on until the 5th attempt. took my vehicle to jeep a few days later where they diagnosed it saying it needs a new ABS control module. However, the control module is on back order with no ETA in sight. There are multiple other people in my exact situation waiting 6+ months for their ABS control module. My car is undriveable as it has no traction control, will go limp, and no ABS system. I have been without my car for a month and they have not provided a loaner. To my research this has been an issue since september of 2023 and has yet to be a recall.

The engine started to misfire due to bad components. The check engine light did not come on to indicate there was an issue until it was too late and the damage was done not only to the engine but other components as well. This was extremely dangerous as the issues resulted in loss of power while driving with my young children in the car as i had just picked them up from school. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic who believes that at this point the engine may need to be replaced entirely. My vehicle just passed 100,000 miles so is no longer covered by warranty and now I am stuck with over an $11,000 bill to replace my engine because it was built poorly to begin with, hence the class action lawsuit against Jeep for this particular motor.

When I pressed breaks the engine started to surge instead of breaking. After releasing and repressing the breaks the issue was over. Happened twice in one day, 2/7/2025, the weather was clear and dry, road conditions good. Did not reproduce since then. Not sure how this is even possible.
