My 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe High Altitude received FCA Recall 68C. Since the recall was completed, the vehicle has experienced repeated and unpredictable reductions in available propulsion during normal driving. The problem is most noticeable when accelerating to merge onto highways, enter traffic, or pass slower vehicles. During these situations, I depress the accelerator expecting normal acceleration, but the vehicle frequently provides significantly reduced power. There is a noticeable delay before the gasoline engine produces sufficient propulsion, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate as expected for several seconds. Based on my experience, the condition is significantly worse during hot weather. As outside temperatures increase, the hesitation and reduction in available propulsion appear to occur more frequently and are more pronounced. This has caused me to lose confidence in the vehicle's ability to accelerate when needed. This condition creates a serious safety hazard because surrounding traffic continues at highway speeds while my vehicle is unable to accelerate as commanded. In [XXX], this hazard is particularly acute because many interstate and highway entrance ramps are relatively short, requiring drivers to accelerate quickly to merge safely into traffic traveling at highway speeds. When the vehicle unexpectedly limits propulsion or delays engaging the gasoline engine, there may not be sufficient distance to reach the speed necessary to merge safely, increasing the risk of a collision. The same issue also affects attempts to pass slower vehicles on two-lane highways, where timely acceleration is essential for safe operation. The vehicle does not display diagnostic trouble codes or warning messages when this occurs. Supplemental Safety Complaint — Post-68C Recall Throttle Non-Response and Loss of Drive Power — Case 11753417. Supplemental incident report referencing prior NHTSA complaint case number 11753417. August 2, 2026. 75°F ambient temperature, low humidity. Vehicle operated normal for approximately 15 electric miles at 40-55 mph, then with 7 miles remaining EV range, electric drive mode exhibited violent, random transitions to ICE engagement. Critical safety concern: pressing accelerator produced zero throttle response for 1-2 seconds during transitions at several intervals. Driver (spouse) felt unsafe. **This incident demonstrates the post-68C software behavior is triggered by both thermal conditions AND low battery state of charge — not temperature alone as previously documented. A throttle dead zone of 1-2 seconds during normal driving constitutes an unreasonable safety risk under federal standards, particularly during merging and intersection navigation. After Recall 68C was performed, the vehicle lost meaningful electric-only operation. This is not FORM. The gasoline engine now intervenes during routine Electric-mode driving with adequate charge. The dealer/manufacturer has not restored the vehicle’s advertised PHEV functionality. Visited dealer to document, and dealer did not charge vehicle and test to see. They instead scanned for codes and said no codes returned.

Following the 68C recall remedy, my vehicle's electric drive mode exhibits intermittent and unsafe power loss during normal operation. Symptoms include sudden RPM spikes, abrupt ICE engagement, loss of drive power with a delay before the gas engine catches, and electric mode becoming temporarily unavailable — occurring unpredictably during stop-and-go traffic, merging, and intersection navigation. I have documented a consistent thermal threshold trigger: symptoms reliably emerge after 10-20 minutes of electric mode operation in ambient temperatures above approximately 80°F, and onset is faster when the battery is warm from prior use. No fault codes are generated because the power limiting appears to be intentional software behavior implemented via the 68C recall remedy — not a malfunction. As a result, dealers scan the vehicle, find no codes, and characterize the behavior as normal operation. Stellantis marketed this vehicle on its electric drive capability. Following the 68C recall, a software update appears to have throttled that capability to protect the battery pack from thermal overload — likely because the cooling system cannot maintain safe battery temperatures under sustained electric load. Jeep now calls this reduced capability "normal operation," effectively de-featuring the vehicle via recall remedy while introducing a new safety risk: unexpected power loss during merging and intersection navigation with a dangerous delay before ICE engagement. I have an open FCA Customer Care case on this issue. The dealer has declined to road-test the vehicle until symptoms are actively occurring. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the 68C recall remedy introduced an unaddressed safety defect affecting all 4xe vehicles in this population. On numerous instances now, while travelling at highway speeds a small bump or uneven surface will cause the vehicle to experience the "Jeep Death Wobble" and will violently shake the entire vehicle out of control unless a rapid deceleration and / or stoppage occurs. I have brought it to a dealer who indicates that they were not able to reproduce the "Shimmy" (they also were unable to perform my safety recalls spite have the vehicle for several days in a row). There is a clear shake, wobble, shimmy, or whatever that is easily reproducible at highway speeds of 50 mph or greater.

I leased this vehicle in April 2023. I have only put 23,000 miles on it and have only had it serviced by the dealership. Months after the start of my lease I experienced the Jeep Death Wobble at speeds in excess of 70 mph with my newborn son in the car. Never having even heard of it, I am extremely lucky that I maintained composure and did not crash. I took the car to the dealership who claimed they repaired in accordingly under my warranty. Since then the death wobble has returned 3 additional times for a total of 4 times in 3 years (the most recent being 6 months ago) with again only 23,000 miles on the car. Each time I have taken the car to the dealership and they have claimed to have repaired the issue. For the past 3 years, I have been plagued with sheer anxiety every time my vehicle goes over 55 mph, never knowing when the wobble will return but always assuming correctly that it will and it has. This is a known issue that I believe has not been able to be directly attributed to crashed because the outcome relies significantly on the drivers reaction to the problem. Had I not remained calm or made any sudden movements with my car each time that this happened, it easily could have been 4 crashes. Multiply that by how many people I know who have or are experiencing this issue and its crazy that Jeep is allowed to continue operating like this.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering); however, the part to complete the recall repair was not yet available. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

My oil plug fell out of my jeep. Within minutes all of the oil had splattered underneath and the back of the jeep. The oil lamp went on in my jeep. From the time the oil warning came on to the seizure of the engine was a couple minutes. The jeep went into protection mode or would not allow me to go over 25 minutes. I saw the engine light come on and went straight to Mobil1, the closest place to get oil and they explained there was oil everywhere and no oil plug. I always got oil changes at the jeep dealership and they were the last to service. They were about to close so i tried to get an oil change. There also had been a slow leak in my driveway that i thought was just coolent but after taking a closer look, I believe it was an oil leak.

Nothing has happened. They dont know when they can fix this issue and its a fire issue. The solution now is to park away from buildings, but car theft is high, and break-ins happen all around here, so that in itself is an issue. Should be at a dealer lot waiting for a fix and a loaner should be provided by Jeep.

While driving, my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe suddenly loses drive power without warning. The car is a plug in hybrid vehicle. The vehicle routinely displays 'Electric Temporarily Unavailable'. When it happens, I press the accelerator and the vehicle does not respond; there is a delay of several seconds with little or no power before the gas engine engages. This is a serious safety hazard — the loss of power is sudden and unpredictable, and the delay leaves me unable to accelerate when merging or pulling into traffic. The condition is reproducible and began after the 68C recall software update. The driver expects a continuous level of power by the car, not a sudden power loss. This is reported by countless other drivers on all social media platforms as a consequence of the 68C recall that affects 350,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer multiple times; each visit results in 'no codes found' and 'operating as designed,' and it has not been repaired. Jeep does not respond to customer complaints or requests for clarification.

Recurring incident after completion of Jeep recall software update 68C intended to address fire hazard associated with the vehicle's hybrid battery. Since that update, when driving in standard Electric mode, the vehicle experiences a sudden loss of power, hesitation, and a physical 'bogging down'. Following this, the vehicle abruptly surges into combustion engine mode, causing a sudden and unpredictable acceleration lurch just after the vehicle has hesitated to accelerate. It poses a hazard for rear-end collision, attempting to pick up speed (e.g., to pass or move from a vulnerable position) and overall maneuvering and operation of the vehicle.

2023 JEEP Wrangler Sahara 4xe has been recalled several times for battery potential fire risk issues due to faulty hi voltage battery design. Each time, a software patch was applied to provide a 'fix'. With my engineering background, I am very sensitive to machinery and its behavior. I have noticed with each successive update, the power output of the traction battery has been capped or limited to restrict maximum current draw from the battery to prevent over heating. With the latest 68C recall, there is now a clear safety issue. Power is restricted so much, pulling on a highway is dangerous. As I accelerate, battery output climbs to 50%, the engine comes on and there is a significant pause before acceleration can resume safely. Under battery only acceleration, the car bogs down with loss of power. The 4xe no longer resembles the vehicle I purchased. Jeep needs to do a physical remedy to restore original specs or buy back the car, 100% of purchase price. This is a clear safety issue. While Jeep has tried to fix the fire risk, they have created a new safety hazard.

I am the owner of a 2023 Jeep Wrangler that is currently affected by an active safety recall. I was informed by my dealership that there is no available remedy and that a repair may not be available for approximately two to three months. I am concerned about being expected to continue operating a vehicle that has been identified as having a safety-related defect while no corrective action is available. As a consumer, I believe it is unreasonable to issue a safety recall without providing owners with a timely solution or adequate support during the waiting period. This situation creates additional hardship because I have ongoing medical conditions that require regular healthcare appointments and reliable transportation. I am also planning a long-distance move to access better healthcare services, and I am concerned about the safety and reliability of driving a vehicle that is subject to an unresolved recall. I respectfully request that FCA review this situation and provide guidance regarding owner protections, alternative transportation assistance, reimbursement options, or other accommodations while a repair is unavailable.

Failed Component: Powertrain (PCM/TCM/HCP software calibration) & Electrical/Steering (Fire Recalls). Safety Risk & Description: Following recent mandatory manufacturer software updates, this vehicle has developed a severe, dangerous drivetrain defect. Under light acceleration from a complete stop, the vehicle exhibits an extreme throttle lag and hard delay before violently surging forward, creating a high risk of intersection collisions. Furthermore, at sustained highway speeds (52–63 MPH), the vehicle abruptly drops out of Electric Mode, causing the gas engine to violently spike to 5,000 RPMs before dropping back. This erratic cycling causes the vehicle to lurch, jerk, and pull, actively disrupting lane control. Compounding this, due to consecutive, unresolved fire safety recalls—including Recall 68C (Battery Fires) and the June 2026 Power Steering Pump wiring fire recall—the vehicle cannot be safely parked inside my garage or near structures while turned off. It represents a total loss of normal use and a severe safety liability. Dealer Confirmation & History: The driving defect was formally duplicated and confirmed by a certified technician on 06/09/2026 at Ryan Auto Mall (Repair Order #471599). The technician explicitly documented the electric mode dropouts and acceleration lag in writing. However, because the vehicle’s software masking prevents standard Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from triggering, the dealer closed the ticket stating it is "operating as designed." The vehicle's electrical and hybrid systems have been repeatedly altered via mandatory safety recalls: Recall 23A/04B (05/14/2024), Recall 95B (05/27/2025), and Recall 68C (02/11/2026). No dashboard warning lights are present; the dangerous handling is entirely coded into the manufacturer's latest software updates. Vehicle is intact and available for inspection.

On two separate occasions, documented with the dealership, while driving, the Jeep failed to accelerate and instead decelerated. On one occasion, this occurred while I was in a single lane on ramp merging onto a highway and reached approximately 45mph. On a separate occasion, I was just pulling out of my subdivision and reaching approximately 30-35 mph when the same issue occurred. Both times, I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road as best as possible, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle often fails to turn off, as it should. The vehicle has also failed to turn on as it should. The center screen turned off for a full trip. There is only approximately 15k miles on this 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The dealership most recently had the vehicle for 6 days but could not replicate the problem in 30 miles and there were no stored error codes besides two related to the radio generated by the HVAC module and the BCM module. An arbitrator found: Although the Customer had established proof of a nonconformity that could substantially impair the safety of the vehicle, I find that there have not been an unreasonable number of repair attempts nor days out of service. I have received three vehicle recalls warning of vehicle fire that have no known recall repair for months.

The vehicle has an issue where when it is off and the key is nowhere near it. It turns on and makes strange noises. I have video footage of it that has been sent to the dealership and they were not able to duplicate it after a very short period of time at the dealership I’ve since had the same issue numerous times as well as the battery has since died as well. I’ve had other issues happen where the vehicle has died with no warning, and I lost all power. The vehicle often times overheats where if you touched the vehicle in certain spots, it’s burning hot. The electrical system seems to have faulty in it as things like the temperature are never accurate and seem to have issues with glitching that has not been able to be duplicated although I have video proof of that as well. Considering all of the safety recalls that have never been remedied like the battery fires. There is no actual remedy that’s been done. All they do is scan the batteries currently to see if there are current issues happening, but there have been fires that have happened to people’s vehicle since with all of the issues that I’ve had with my vehicle with it powering on when the keys are nowhere near it. It’s very scary to have a vehicle that can catch fire with all of the electrical issues currently has That have never been corrected.

My vehicle is subject to open recall #26V-363 for Electric Hydraulic Power Steering. I contacted my local Jeep dealership to schedule the required free recall repair. The dealership refused to accept my vehicle, stating that Stellantis/Jeep has not yet distributed the remedy procedure or parts to their service department. As a result, the recall cannot be performed at this time through any authorized dealership. This situation creates an ongoing safety risk, as the defective steering system remains unrepaired with no available remedy. Additionally, I am suffering direct economic harm — my vehicle is listed on a peer-to-peer car sharing platform which has restricted my listing due to this open recall, and I am losing rental income daily with no recourse. I am requesting that NHTSA follow up with Stellantis to expedite distribution of the recall remedy to authorized dealerships so that affected vehicle owners can fulfill their obligation to have the repair completed.

In Highway speeds the death Wobble is uncontrollable. To the point my daughters in the back got scared and cried thinking we would crash. I take to jeep and they told me nothing was wrong. They lied to me.

Our Jeep 4Xe underwent the recall for the hybrid battery. The battery was replaced in May 2026, since then the vehicle hesitates to accelerate at speed causing a safety concern. This vehicle has been recalled so many times we have no confidence in the vehicle.

Stellantis (owner of Jeep) has issued an intent to recall a million or so Wranglers/Gladiators starting next month. They have urged people to park away from structures and other cars. Living in suburban NY, relatively dense by most standards, and working in a place I park my car in a garage, this is near impossible therefore leaving my car a combustion risk, risking the lives and wellbeings of myself, my family, and my neighbors, along with my work associates. While this may work in rural areas such as Peoria, this is not an acceptable solution for NYers such as myself. Furthermore, I purchased the car to be plugged in, and given this news, am urged to relinquish a very expensive feature I paid good money to use.

Shortly after a recall repair was completed, I experienced a sudden loss of motive power while driving approximately 45 mph on a public roadway. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had approximately half a tank of gasoline remaining. I observed the high-voltage battery gauge reach approximately 1% state of charge. Immediately after the battery gauge reached that level, the vehicle suddenly lost power and appeared to stall while in motion. I received no warning before the failure occurred. At the time of the event, a battery system failure warning appeared along with a plug icon on the dashboard. I was forced to pull off the roadway and bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle had to be placed in Park and restarted before it would operate again. Fortunately, there was a safe area available to pull over. Had this occurred in heavier traffic or where there was no safe shoulder, it could have created a serious safety hazard. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week but advised they could not duplicate the failure and could not identify a cause. I was told to keep the vehicle charged. My concern is that the incident occurred immediately after the battery gauge reached approximately 1% state of charge. Based on the timing of the event, I am concerned there may be a problem related to the transition from electric/hybrid operation to gasoline engine operation when the high-voltage battery reaches a very low state of charge. I am not claiming this is the cause, only that the timing appears significant. To my knowledge, the vehicle was kept charged during dealership testing, and I do not know whether the battery was allowed to reach the same low state of charge that existed when the failure occurred. A sudden loss of motive power while driving creates a significant safety risk, and I have not received a clear explanation for the cause of the failure or assurance that it will not happen again.
