What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
While driving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe at approximately 70 mph in Hybrid mode the vehicle suddenly and without warning experienced a complete loss of propulsion while I was traveling in traffic. The vehicle would no longer respond normally to the accelerator and I was unable to maintain speed. The Drive (D) indicator began flashing and multiple warning lights and messages appeared on the instrument cluster. I specifically remember the red battery/charging-system warning being illuminated. The dashboard also displayed a warning relating to the power/charging system and a message instructing me to shift or put the vehicle into Park. I had to get the vehicle safely out of moving traffic. This was extremely frightening because the loss of propulsion occurred suddenly at highway speed and could have resulted in a serious collision. This vehicle has previously been brought to an authorized Jeep dealership multiple times for recalls/service involving the battery/electrical/12-volt system. On a previous occasion, the vehicle also failed to start while parked in my garage. After this highway incident occurred and after I was eventually able to get the vehicle operating again, my husband disconnected the 12-volt battery in an attempt to perform a hard reset. The battery was disconnected AFTER the loss-of-propulsion event and therefore did not precede the highway failure. The vehicle is currently at an authorized Jeep dealership for diagnosis. I have asked the dealership to document the complete loss of propulsion, retrieve any available stored, pending, history or permanent diagnostic trouble codes, and determine the cause of the failure. I am reporting this incident because I am very concerned that an electrical, hybrid, battery, charging or powertrain defect may cause the vehicle to suddenly lose motive power again while being driven. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speed presents a serious safety risk to the occupants of this vehicle and to other motorists.
Vehicle shut off while driving asking to shift into park to restart.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
After a recent recall (68C) the vehicle performance has greatly deteriorated. The ELEC mode propulsion has been limited, the internal combustion engine (ICE) engages much sooner than previous. Instead of a 'warm-up' cycle for the ICE, it feels as though there is actual clutch engagement, but with limited power. I feel this could have the potential to accelerate engine wear with a 'cold' engine with rapid engagement, as well as increased fuel/oil dilution (inherent with direct injection turbo engines). In turn, causing the vehicle to experience Fuel Oil Refresh Mode (FORM) more frequently, due to short, repetitive engine cycles. Additionally, the regenerative braking has been cut in half, leading to a decrease in electric charger egeneration to the HV battery, as well as decreased range and power. It is most obvious in stop and go traffic, when attempting to pull out in traffic, as well as when attempting to merge onto a highway or interstate. I feel, without intervention, the current vehicle performance will certainly lead to increased mechanical issues, a potential for frequent service department visits, as well as an increased potential for probable incidents/accidents during operation. I understand Stellantis has offered an extended warranty for the HV battery (unlimited years/miles, with limitations). However, Samsung SDI should be pressured to actually fix their HV battery, not replace it with a similar known faulty battery. This vehicle, in my honest opinion, can be made safe and reliable, but only with intervention and pressure from outside agencies with the power to force the manufacturer(s) to do so -- and my service department agrees. That is why I am elevating these issues, to hopefully enact change, and quite possibly, reduce the potential for catastrophic failures and/or an increased potential for accidents resulting in injury/death. Thank you for your concern with this matter.
Subject: Performance Degradation and Drive Mode Faults Following Recall 68C Update – 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xeTo Whom It May Concern,I am writing to formally report a significant degradation in vehicle performance and powertrain management following the completion of the Recall 68C software update on my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe.Prior to the update, the vehicle operated efficiently and provided excellent torque and acceleration. I purchased this plug-in hybrid vehicle specifically to utilize electric-only (EV) mode for my daily 30-mile highway commute between [XXX] and [XXX].However, since the Recall 68C service was completed, the vehicle exhibits the following issues:Involuntary Engine Switching: Even when the vehicle is actively set to "Electric" mode, the hybrid powertrain constantly forces transitions between battery power and the internal combustion engine. This behavior occurs under normal driving conditions in ambient outdoor temperatures of approximately 80°F.Loss of Electric Powertrain Performance: The available power and torque in electric-only mode are noticeably diminished compared to the pre-recall performance levels.Compromised Vehicle Utility & Increased Operating Costs: Because the gasoline engine frequently overrides the electric settings, the primary functional utility of the PHEV system is negated. This failure to maintain electric propulsion has dramatically increased my fuel consumption and operati the safety software update deployed to mitigate high-voltage battery cell risks has fundamentally compromised the vehicle's advertised performance, utility, and drivetrain integrity. I request that the NHTSA investigate whether these post-recall performance changes constitute a systematic defect and urge Stellantis/Jeep to provide a permanent software or hardware correction. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your oversight regarding consumer vehicle safety and compliance. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
After a recent recall for the battery, the vehicle did not operate as it did before with regards to ‘Electric only’ mode. The vehicle engine would intermittently start under seemingly normal conditions ( no major hills or hard pressing of gas) despite being in the electric mode. There would be a noticeably high rpm cycle when this happened.

Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
On numerous instances now, while travelling at highway speeds a small bump or uneven surface will cause the vehicle to experience the "Jeep Death Wobble" and will violently shake the entire vehicle out of control unless a rapid deceleration and / or stoppage occurs. I have brought it to a dealer who indicates that they were not able to reproduce the "Shimmy" (they also were unable to perform my safety recalls spite have the vehicle for several days in a row). There is a clear shake, wobble, shimmy, or whatever that is easily reproducible at highway speeds of 50 mph or greater.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering); however, the part to complete the recall repair was not yet available. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.

My vehicles check engine light came on in the morning when starting the vehicle. It was a solid check engine light not flashing. I proceede to drive the vehicle and while pressing the accelerator the vehicle does not move. the engine done not connect immediatly, this is a hybrid vehicle so it attempts to use both the electrical and gas motors. The engin begins to rev very high and then after somewhere between 5-10 secounds of no power the vechicle jumps forward with the gas engine connecting. I attempt to put the vehicle into gas only mode, but this also does not work as this setting is turned off along with the electrical only mode. Other interior electronics are not working either. When attempting to drive to my local auto parts store to find out the codes for the check engine the vehicle shut off the gas engine preventing the vehicle from accelerating. Then seemingly randomly the engine will kick on and lurch the vehicle forward and then stop and turn off the gas engine again. The safty of myself and other are at risk because of the uncontrolable acceleration or loss of power randomly while driving. The problem has now been reproducable for multiple days. I have reported it to my dealership Bloomington Chrystler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram. And was told they do not have any appointments available and I should wait and should be safe to continue driving. Upon getting the codes from the auto parts store obd2 scanner I received 4 counts of the P0BEE code and 1 count of the P1ABC code. I informed my dealership of this and they told me that I should continue to drive it until my appointment and that they can assess it then. In the mean time I have lost power in the middle of intersections while attempting to drive through. I have lurched forward into crosswalks with pedestrians attempting to cross the street at stop signs and have lost power on streets when slowing down causing the vehicle to be unable to restart until coming to a complete stop and restarting.
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
In Highway speeds the death Wobble is uncontrollable. To the point my daughters in the back got scared and cried thinking we would crash. I take to jeep and they told me nothing was wrong. They lied to me.
I have had multiple issues and repairs completed including two recalls for the battery. Two repairs to the flapper in ac system and damper in front end replaced under 24000 miles. I have had two radios and amp replaced and now need another being it does the same as before and never works when I try to use usb and over heats my phone, which the dealership has been non compliant with warranty being they either state I can’t duplicate or do not produce full history reports. I have had three dealership make repairs in the last 2 years and it is now approaching 36000 and they are aware of the reoccurring issues. I have been instructed not to charge in or near a my home but that is why I bought the hybrid for the electric as well. They keep stating they have no loaners and I would be without my vehicle for over two days just for diagnostics. They have had the jeep in the shop and stated the radio had turned itself on when Jeep was not on. There are definitely many electrical issues connecting these things and it is just being pushed off by Stellantis. Now there looks to be a stress crack in front windshield I am taking to a windshield company as there are no visible rock chips just crack from bottom 1/4 way up and running.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.

The high voltage battery failed to charge, power surges and power drops while on highway plus burning smell. Charger stopped charging and gave warning light. No one was able to replicate so I was forced to take vehicle back. I am in [XXX] and asked if this could be the issue. No one could verify or give me advice. Having done my own investigations I see high temperatures can affect and cause thermal fires. The manufacturer is not taking this seriously and also dealers in [XXX] where it is excessively over recommended temperatures to charge should be making owners of these vehicles aware or don’t sell them in the state. I have been treated appallingly from everyone trying to ensure my safety. Although I was lucky there was no serious incident I believe this will happen. Furthermore with the fires in EV or hybrids, why if excessive heat is an issue, are the fires not being investigated as to where and what states. I thought NHTSA was there to protect and provide safety information for manufacturers to follow. I am being left to drive a vehicle in which me my family and others are being put in danger. I began to notice some occasional loss of the steering with violent shakes - the death wobble - and once in the rain down a street with potholes which seemed to agitate the car further. I made an appointment to get the car checked and took it into the dealership. At that time, the tech mentioned that there was a recall out - which I had seen in the mail before - and asked if I wanted to get the update - I said yes. I believe the “Check Engine” was also blinking at that time so I also asked them to check that. After that, the vehicle was in the shop for 2 weeks without a clear diagnosis before the tech reached out and told me the car was “inoperable”. After communicating with the engineers and getting support from management, the car was still inoperable for over 2 months. At that point the tech asked me to contact Chrysler to file a claim to help him make sure it kept moving. (Please note that I found this bizarre and I hope any reasonable person in a similar situation would as well. 😨) A few days later, they told me the car was ready for me to pick up! I do not have a technical background and do not fully understand the issue, but the tech told me there was an issue with the vehicle sensor software which clashed with the recall and caused the vehicle to stop responding. As a fix, they uninstalled the sensor software and then reinstalled it after the recall update. Any future software update may cause the vehicle to crash and considering there is a third recall on this issue so far with out a proper fix, it is highly probably that there will be subsequent recalls/updates which will crash the car. At that time, I will have no recourse.
two issues. the first involves shaking and veering which continues since the purchase and this is the fourth time i have had concerns with this. vehicle it shakes at any speed and violently if i dont let up off the gas. the second issue occured while driving on the 5 freeway with the speed control on and suddenly there was a loud boom thud sound behind the front seet like running over a tire or something, the vehicle began to slow i applie gas and noticed the panel radio etc all working but a message appeared to stop or pull over and park and restart; however when i looked down to see if was in gear and it was in D and blinking like it does in park assist. the screen also ramdomly swithche the view. vehicle is currently in the dealership.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
The vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic, un-commanded emergency braking event while moving in active traffic.Despite the driver's seatbelt being securely buckled, the vehicle overrode its own safety programming, dropping all propulsion, violently engaging the electronic brakes, and forcing the transmission straight into Park at low speeds at an intersection. This occurred immediately after the vehicle received an official factory high-voltage hybrid safety recall remedy last month. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership, where a diagnostic scan logged a false 'Door Ajar / AutoPark' fault code. The safety system critically malfunctioned by ignoring a buckled seatbelt to execute a dangerous emergency stop in traffic. The vehicle is completely unsafe to operate on public roads due to an unpredictable brake and powertrain safety override defect. The manufacturer is currently refusing to provide direct-bill rental assistance while the vehicle sits undiagnosed on the dealer lot.
Parked my 2023 Wrangler 4xe for about three hours. When I started driving again the brake pedal was hard and it took way longer than normal to stop. No warning lights, no codes on the OBD reader. Toggling max regen on and off made no difference. Power cycling the vehicle didn’t fix it. Pads are warm so the calipers are engaging, but there’s very little stopping force behind them. I would guess there is an electrical issue with the regenerative breaking system or brake vacuum.

Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while her husband was driving through an intersection at 40 MPH, another driver ran a stop light and crashed into the front driver's side of the vehicle. The other driver's vehicle went underneath the contact's vehicle as the contact's back tires drove over the other driver's engine. The other driver admitted fault due to distracted driving. The contact stated that no air bags deployed inside the vehicle; however, the other vehicle did have the air bags deploy. The contact and her husband were seen by paramedics at the scene of the accident. The contact later sought treatment from her doctor, where an MRI was performed, which showed that the contact had suffered a concussion. The MRI also showed that the contact had suffered a traumatic brain injury, as white matter changes were found in her brain. In addition, the contact was informed that parts of her vertebrae were also damaged, which required surgery. The surgery involved a bone fusion of bone C5 to C6 and a disc replacement of bone C4 to C5. The contact mentioned she was a registered nurse for 25 years, and due to the severity of her injuries, she can no longer return to her profession. The contact's husband was also treated by his doctor for a dislocated right wrist. The injuries of the other driver were unknown if any; however her father, who was a police officer, picked her up from the scene of the crash. A police report was filed. As a result of the accident, the vehicle was totaled and was towed to an independent wrecking yard. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH and the vehicle hydroplaned and rolled over eight times. The contact stated that none of the air bags were deployed. In addition, the contact stated that the failure occurred while it was raining. The contact stated that his mother and his pets were passengers in the vehicle at the time. The contact sustained injuries were a dislocated left shoulder, a broken left index finger, a fractured right foot, a fractured rib, and a head injury which caused migraine headaches. The contact's mother sustained injuries were a fractured arm, a head injury, injuries to both feet and knees, and a chest injury that caused difficulty breathing. The contact and his mother received medical treatment at the scene of the crash. The contact stated that he and his passengers were transported to a nearby hotel. The contact stated that because of financial situations, they were unable to go to the local medical center for further treatment. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

I bought this Jeep brand new on 7/5/2025 at a dealership with 342 miles on it. The night of purchase, I noticed the fog lights did not work. The dealership had to replace all the wires to the fog lights. On the morning of 8/29/2025, while driving my vehicle between the speeds of 25 - 55 mph to work, the vehicle would shimmy for unknown reasons. Later that afternoon, while driving home from work on the interstate at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle began a severe shake (AKA death wobble). I was able to slow down and safely exit the interstate, but the vehicle did not stop the “death wobble” until it was at a near stop. I immediately called the dealership, and they are to inspect it first thing in the morning on 8/29/2025. This vehicle has not had any modifications or previous owners.

Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
The defective component is the cable and handle assembly that controls the rear seat’s ability to fold down and lock securely in the upright position. The dealership confirmed the cable was bound but is refusing to repair it under the factory warranty. This is a safety concern because a faulty mechanism may prevent the seat from locking properly. If the seat cannot stay secured in the upright position, a passenger could be thrown forward during a hard stop or collision, and cargo from the rear could strike occupants. The defect compromises the seat’s ability to restrain passengers and maintain structural stability in an accident.
