2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Engine Problems

In march 2036 my car just completely stopped in 5pm traffic and I was almost hit over a dozen times car wouldn’t albe to be moved because it completed died out. When I took it to JLR had to have it towed twice . They said it was the battery and that it needed to be calibrated, sent me home and same day car stalled again in a busy traffic, this time they said it was my alternator and that my own system was shorted out, and they had to replace the alternator. Wants to charge me $4k , then I get a call saying it’s the DC Dc Converter and it’s shorted out my electric system and alternator! Don’t know I’what to believe ! Before my car died it first said charging. Battery low and died out while I was getting Dutch bros but started up right away, two days later I got the warning lights all flashing and then died completely

On March 5, 2026, while I and my 2 passengers were traveling on the 405 Freeway at approximately 40–50 mph, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic total loss of power. The engine shut off and all electronic systems failed simultaneously, including the instrument cluster and all interior lighting. Most critically, the hazard lights were inoperable, leaving the vehicle invisible to high-speed traffic during the failure. Since I was traveling at highway speeds I was able to safely glide the vehicle to the center shoulder. After approximately 10–15 minutes, the dashboard, infotainment, and climate control systems began flickering intermittently before power temporarily returned. Upon attempting to re-enter traffic to reach an exit, the vehicle stalled a second time while in motion. I returned to the shoulder again. After another 10 minutes the vehicle started and I was eventually able to exit the freeway and reach my residence. The following morning, the vehicle was completely unresponsive and would not start. It was towed to Land Rover Santa Monica dealership on March 6, 2026, where it currently remains for diagnosis and repair. This incident on the 405 freeway marks the third occurrence of a total loss of propulsion and electrical failure while the vehicle was in motion. Despite previous repair attempts, the defect persists, rendering the vehicle fundamentally unsafe for operation. I am gravely concerned for my personal safety, as well as the safety of other motorists on public streets and highways. A vehicle that spontaneously stalls at high speeds—while simultaneously losing the ability to activate hazard lights—presents an unacceptable risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. Given that this is a recurring, catastrophic safety failure, I am requesting an immediate and permanent resolution, as the vehicle in its current state is a liability to public safety and unsafe to be driven by me or anyone.

A fire started under the hood roughly 15 minutes after we drove it and parked it. Smoke could be seen 1st, then the fire. Not sure what starter the fire. The vehicle was parked 3 ft from my house, which could’ve caught my house on fire, luckily it wasn’t parked in my garage. The incident has not been yet reproduced or confirmed by an independent service center, manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure

CAR STALLS TURNS OFF AT A COMPLETE STOP. IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TURN BACK ON YOU WILL HAVE TO TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON. AT THE TIME OF IT HAPPENING YOU HAVE NO LIGHTS SO IT MAKES IT EASY FOR SOMEONE TO REAR END YOU. IF THIS HAPPENS IN THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC IT MIGHT KILL SOMEONE.

I am submitting this complaint to report a significant windshield defect in my 2020 Range Rover Evoque. The issue involves water ingress due to improper windshield bonding, which leads to leaks into the passenger compartment and excessive wind noise. This is a known issue with Land Rover vehicles, as evidenced by Service Action N221, which acknowledges similar problems in prior model years, including other Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery vehicles. Despite the fact that Land Rover has documented and repaired this issue in other vehicles, Land Rover North America has denied responsibility for the defect in my vehicle. They agreed to cover the diagnostic inspection but refused to repair the defect under warranty or as a goodwill repair. Safety Concerns:     •    Structural Integrity Risk: A poorly bonded windshield compromises the vehicle’s structural integrity in the event of a crash.     •    Driver Visibility: Water leaks can cause fogging on the windshield, obstructing the driver’s view.     •    Electrical Damage: Water ingress can lead to electrical malfunctions, potentially impacting vehicle safety systems.

While driving on [XXX] on [XXX] from Burlington VT airport to Barre VT, the vehicle suddenly slowed and did not respond to the gas pedal. This was at about 5 pm. Managed to get the vehicle to the small curb but was partly in the right lane of highway. Many cars veered around us. Felt could easily have been hit from behind. Vehicle finally started after several tries and got it to a larger curb area. No warning lights came one before the stall, until just beforehand. Flashing lights then briefly lighted. Got vehicle towed to a repair shop that only kept it for several days and restarted several times. Then, had it towed to a Land Rover dealer in Bedford, NH, where it has been now for several days. They drove it and the problem recurred. Still no word on what happened. The vehicle has 26,000 miles and was purchased new in May of 2020. All required service was done by Land Rover dealers. The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The contact stated that there was unknown fluid leaking from the vehicle. There was an unknown amber warning light illuminated. The contact added water to the radiator and the warning light temporarily turned off but illuminated again. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear emission battery needed to be replaced. The mechanic noticed a leak inside the vehicle that was flowing onto the onboard computer of the vehicle. The mechanic determined that the windshield wiper box line was the cause of the leak. The water was leaking from panel number one. The leak started at the front windshield to the driver's side window down to the air bag and the hose connected to the windshield wiper box into the firewall pillar and to the rear windshield. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

My car completely shut down at a traffic light as I took my foot off of the brake to begin my turn on green. This resulted in my car having to be towed by the police because where my car shut down in the middle of the street was a traffic hazard. The police even tried to jump the battery but nothing worked. There were multiple incidences of the like before hand, but the car usually restarted after shutting down. This time, it would not restart and resulted in a $400+ towing bill. Messages on dash were, Transmission not in Park and Battery low.

Engine complete shuts down when idling (I.e., at stop lights) in extreme temperatures. Requires vehicle to be turned off, wait a minute or two, restart vehicle. Has happened 4 times at outdoor temperatures of 110-120 degrees. Dealership service claims that they cannot replicate the problem and states that there is nothing in the computer log to show any errors. So far this has not happened on a highway, only local streets.

This happens several times (more than 10) over a period of 6 months. The car randomly, while driving states "select gear to maneuver". This is VERY dangerous as the car just randomly turns off. It does not matter if it is in a middle of a turn, going fast, or coming to a stop. Get landrover to recall and fix this issue ASAP! This puts me and my family at risk. Along with every other motorist and pedestrian in the streets. Including school children crossing the street.

SINCE PAST FEW MONTHS I AM EXPERIENCING FREQUENT STALLING IN MY CAR. WHEN CAR IS AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND SOMETIMES DURING TURNING AT THE CORNER, IT JUST STOPS RESPONDING TO PEDDLE AND I HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND SELECT GEAR AGAIN TO MOVE IT. DURING THE RECENT SNOWSTORMS, IT ONCE STALED AND STARTED SLIDING BACKWARDS AS ENGINE STALLED AND TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING ON TRACTION. I HAD TO QUICKLY RESTART THE ENGINE AND REGAIN THE CONTROL TO GET AWAY WITH THIS SITUATION. I THINK THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD AND COULD LEAD TO FATAL ACCIDENT SOME DAY. I AM PUTTING ROUGH DATE OF 1ST MARCH AS I DO NOT KNOW WHEN WAS IT STARTED EXACTLY BUT ITS BEEN COUPLE OF MONTHS I AM HAVING THIS ISSUE.
