Emergency braking system and violent seat belt retraction activated in error with no other vehicle in front of on my car . As I have vertigo and a pacemaker the seat belt retraction snapped my head forward in tightening my body but not my head resulting in severe head movement causing extreme dizziness. Also the rapid seat belt retraction place strong pressure on my pacemaker

Description of Incident: While attempting to reverse out of my driveway, I experienced a catastrophic and life-threatening malfunction with my vehicle. I was in reverse gear when the car came to an abrupt, extremely forceful stop, which caused the vehicle to jerk violently forward. This sudden and unprovoked halt put me and my passenger at risk of serious injury. My foot was on the brake the entire time. As the car stopped so unexpectedly, I shifted into Drive in an attempt to inch forward. However, despite my foot remaining firmly on the brake, the car accelerated at full power, without warning, and with no input from me to do so. The car then drove directly into the foundation of my house, causing significant damage. Despite applying constant pressure to the brake, the vehicle failed to stop or respond. This malfunction resulted in the destruction of my home’s foundation and caused bodily injury to both me and my passenger. This was a life-threatening event and could have resulted in severe harm or death to anyone nearby. The car’s acceleration while my foot was still on the brake indicates a severe safety risk and defect in the vehicle’s systems, which also places others at risk.

My 2023 EQS 580 randomly stops while driving. It has happened 5+ times while traveling at speeds between 10-25mph. My dealer here in Atlanta has replaced the front sensor which didn't resolve the issue. I am thankful that so far the vehicle has not stopped on city streets and not highways. There are no warnings just a hard stopped like other complaints state. I comtacted Mercedes support but they have not been helpful. The vehicle is back at the dealer..

Mercedes Benz USA has been equipping their 2023 EQS580 4Matic Sedans with Summer tires. It makes the vehicle very unsafe while driving in Winters. These are the tires which are not supported by the tire manufactures on their websites, but only supported by Mercedes Benz USA on their website. I am trying to report this so that it can be looked into. This could be a reason for creating car crashes. There was no logical reasoning given to me on why this is the case. The tires given to me is not rated to be driven below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. How can a manufacturer expect for anyone to drive a vehicle, safely, with these stock tires.

I now have experienced a third incident (within 30 days) where the audio and communications fail in my 2023 EQS580. This causes the car phone, radio, and other audio mediums to become inoperable. This has happened on three separate times during the month of June, and I placed the vehicle in service at the dealership each successive time; the vehicle was released on June 4th, June 10th, and July 3rd). Please see attached picture. Additionally, as I have conveyed to Mercedes-Benz (via the app and via email), as well as the service team at the Mercedes-Benz dealership/service center here in Honolulu, after the service department worked on the vehicle in early June, the app no longer functions as it did before being serviced. Specifically, I can no longer add charging pauses via the app. Whenever I attempt to add a charging pause during the app, the Mercedes Me app crashes and closes. I have deleted the app and reinstalled several times; to no avail. In addition to the dealership not being able to correct the problem, I have contacted Mercedes-Benz several times, to no avail. The "Customer Care Center" representatives merely send my call to the voicemail of the Customer Care Expert (James), and he has yet to return ANY of my calls. Ownership of this expensive car is now an exhausting headache, as it does not operate in the manner in which it was advertised

Two weeks ago, we got warning messages about the Active Steering function being inoperative and the Active Emergency Stop function being unavailable. Additionally, the driver side rear tire has consistenly lost air pressure repeatedly since the car was purchased in the fall of 2023. The dealer examined the car and was unable to replicate any of the issues and returned the car to us without any repairs or modifications being done. Yesterday, we were driving on [XXX] going from Winter Park to Granby around 60 MPH. Suddenly, we heard something that sounded like a bomb - a large BOOM followed by the sound of shattering glass. We looked up and it appeared the sunroof had shattered. If the interior screen was not closed, we would have been rained on by glass. Severe safety issue involving my 2023 Mercedes. On [XXX] around 2pm, I experienced a terrifying incident while driving northbound on [XXX]. At approximately 59 mph, with clear weather and no vehicles nearby, a loud blast suddenly erupted from my vehicle, a sound similar to a shotgun blast or fireworks. I was in shock and initially unsure of what had occurred, as there were no cars around me, and my vehicle continued to operate normally. I looked up to see that the sunroof glass had inexplicably exploded. The sunroof blind was closed, and all windows were shut during the incident. I had been driving for about 20 minutes when this occurred. Remarkably, there was no glass inside the car; around 90% of the sunroof glass simply vanished. Fortunately, the sunroof blind was closed, which likely prevented severe injury to me or potential passengers. There were no cracks, chips, or issues with the sunroof before this incident. I now sometimes experience aftershocks whenever I encounter a pothole or any sudden jolt while driving. Given the severity and randomness of this occurrence, I am gravely concerned about the potential risk this defect poses to other drivers and their passengers. -The sunroof glass is available for inspection upon request. -The sudden explosion of the sunroof put my safety at risk, as the loud noise and unexpected nature of the event caused significant shock. If the sunroof blind had been open, glass shards could have injured me or any passengers. - The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer; they are not willing to correct the issue. -There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The incident occurred without any prior indication or warning. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter promptly to ensure the safety of all motorists. Just over two months owning the vehicle (bought [XXX]) I was driving on a smaller highway at roughly 35 mph when the car suddenly came to a stop. There were no obstacles front or behind or the sides. It threw me forward. I was aching and in shock, but needed to get out of the left lane so I pushed the gas pedal and the car moved so I could pull into the left turn lane. I did not know what happened. I did not see any lights on the dash. I was not sure what to do but knew I needed to get off this busy road and the Mercedes dealership was just up the road. I carefully drove to the dealership and explained in detail what happened. The Mercedes dealership told me they got a whole new program for the car sent from Germany and they wiped the previous program and put a new one on my car and that the problem was resolved. On [XXX] as I was driving down the road the same incident happened again. It threw me forward and this time I saw a little red triangle on the dashboard that was only there for a second. There were no obstacles in the road or to my front rear or sides. I sat stunned and shaking and thankful that I wasn’t rear-ended. I again contacted Mercedes and told them that now I am too frightened to ever drive this car again. They told me there was nothing found wrong and to come get i- It is safe enough to drive again. If I had been on the highway at the time, I certainly would have been in a horrific accident, possibly resulting in death. I checked to see if there were previous reports of this to NTSB and there were. I contacted Mercedes USA and they did an investigation and deemed that my car does not qualify for replacement. I didn’t have three strikes to qualify for the lemon law even though it is a life or death situation. They drove the car back to me today. I do not feel safe in that car and never will again. I believe it should be recalled. This is not only an EV issue as my sales rep had a C class ‘23 and it happened to him. Please stop a death. Recall! Complaint Crackling and cracking noise from the outer wheel on the front axle when cornering Cause The noise is generated by a micromovement on the contact surface between the rim and the brake disk (wheel bolt group) and may be intensified by potential soiling. The more lightweight rim (AMG forged rim) transmits the noise louder; in the case of cast rims, the noise is generally not perceptible. This is not a technical defect, but rather a complaint concerning comfort. Safe operation of the vehicle is ensured at all times. Remedy Important note: The operations described below do not represent a permanent remedy in every case. The noise may reoccur again after an indefinite period of time; sanding the rims with abrasive media multiple times is not permissible. Only cleaning using the Hazet tool 4960-160 (recommendation) can be performed without any concerns each time the wheel is changed or if the complaint reoccurs. Replacing the parts (rim, wheel bolts, wheel bearings, wheel hub, brake disk) is not expedient in the event of this complaint. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clean the components of the wheel bolt connection according to the WIS instructions Sand down the rim and brake disk bowl by performing the following steps: • Manually sand rim (old design only) in area of water drain bores (Figure 1; item A), approx. 1.5 cm left and right of water drain bore (Figure 2) Note: Use abrasive paper with grit size 80. The grooving in this area should no longer be visible (sand down approx. 0.1-0.2mm) • Also sand brake disk bowl using emery cloth or abrasive paper with a grain size of 120 • For vehicles equipped with the AMG ceramic brake system (B07), abrasive paper may not be used for cleaning on the brake disk side Note: Do not use any cleaning agent when cleaning on the rim side. Cleaning using abrasive paper with a grain size of 80 will suffice. Do not apply any grease, lubricant or paste after cleaning The brake disk bowl should be "bare metal" in the area of the imprints made by the hole (Figure 3)

POWER TRAIN
Single throttle lift-off clunking noise from the side shaft when moving off (audible at the outboard end). The noise is heard once in each instance when changing direction of travel. Note: Sound file in attachment Cause If the complaint is eliminated by experimentally loosening the outboard collar nut (by 1 turn), the problem is due to cracking of the microweld between the wheel bearing inner race and the joint housing of the side shaft. Note: The collar nut must always be replaced after being loosened. See also LI33.20-P-078406 Remedy Coat contact surface of side shaft with wheel bearing with Molykote paint. To do this, proceed as follows: 1. Remove side shafts 2. Clean contact surface A (see image file in attachment "Outer joint housing before") before coating with Molykote, using "spirit" (free of dust and grease) 3. Coat contact surface A (see image file in attachment "Outer joint housing after") with Molykote and leave to dry for "one hour" in removed condition 4. Reinstall side shafts Note: Before using the antifriction coating (Molykote), stir it or shake it thoroughly for (at least 1 minute).
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Complaint Traffic sign symbol for "Traffic Sign Assist" is blinking in instrument cluster without obvious cause usually with one of the following scenarios: • Flashing without a speed limit ("- -"). • Flashing when current vehicle speed is under speed limit. • Flashing between US speed limit symbol and European speed limit symbol. NOTE: • Verify that the concern falls under one of the attachment videos. If not, then it is outside of the scope of this LI. • This also does not cover "Traffic Sign Inoperative" messages on the instrument cluster. Cause There are two identified reasons for this concern: 1. Country code information stored incorrectly at a particular geographic latitude range. 2. Incorrect reference data when the vehicle is started and a GPS signal is not immediately available. Remedy Do not replace parts. Please open a TIPS case to the Body/Chassis/Entertainment inbox but read the below carefully: • The vehicle must be exhibiting the concern as shown in the attachment videos. • The vehicle DOES NOT need to be at the dealer, nor does it need to be brought into the dealership. • If the geographic location is known, it is very important that it is provided. • Provide any pictures or videos, if available. A new software for the head unit is scheduled for tentative release in Q3 2026.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Complaint Radio station cover art does not refresh when switching stations. The UI continues to show the old station’s artwork instead of updating to the new one. Cause When a new station change request is triggered, a temporary glitch is causing the Head Unit application to fail to overwrite the previous request. This glitch is causing the cover art mismatch in the Radio application. Remedy Please do not replace any parts. The E505.9 software is released and available in XENTRY Q3 2026.
SUSPENSION
Complaint Creaking noise, in irregular sequence when driving slowly in combination with slight steering movements and/or Creaking/crackling noises from the area of the wheel bearing on the front axle when cornering/ maneuvering. Sound file attached for comparison. MUST match noise for proper diagnosis. NOTE: Steering functionality is not affected. Cause Contact area between wheel bearing and steering knuckle. See also: LI35.30-P-058566 (Throttle Lift-Off Noise - Rear) LI33.30-P-056665 (Throttle Lift-Off Noise - Front) LI40.10-P-059248 (Wheel cracking noise when cornering) Remedy 1. Perform Operation A and evaluate by testing vehicle. 2. If noise is still present after re-testing: • If 192/232 chassis, verify FIN is in the listed range below in "Operation B" and perform. • If not 192/232 chassis or vehicle is a 192/232 not in the listed FIN range, additional verifications of where the noise is coming from are needed. Use multiple channel NVH method to narrow down location. Verify the LI's listed above were completed or if there are other similar noises associated with the chassis (Example: 192/232 also has under panel noises and an associated LI). Operation A: 1. Clean contact surfaces of wheel bearing and steering knuckle with brake cleaner as seen in the attached pictures. NOTE: The front area of the wheel bearing and the seals must not come into contact with the cleaner, otherwise, the sealing rings will be damaged. 2. Clean threads of wheel bearing mounting. 3. Thinly coat contact surfaces of wheel bearing, steering knuckle, and axle mating face with Molykote (annular joint grease). See the attached steering knuckle and wheel hub pictures for reference. NOTE: Axle mating face greasing is also covered in LI35.30-P-058566 and LI33.30-P-056665. Operation B (Only applies to 192 and 232 in listed FIN range): Only affects vehicles up to FIN end number: • Model series 192: xxx xxx xx 002 876 • Model series 232: xxx xxx xx 022 312 1. Replace steering knuckle. 2. Wheel bearings do not need to be replaced.
