The contact owns a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headlights and brake lights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the headlight control module switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE SPEED AND RPMS INCREASED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF AND NOTICED BLUE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING 8 MPH THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. HE STATED THAT IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER INSPECTED. APPROXIMATELY FOUR DAYS LATER THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. HE STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A WOODEN POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. *AK
