2025 RAM 1500 Powertrain (other) Problems

After normal driving and powering down, (breaking, stopping, transmission to park, and turning truck off) the truck then lurches forward after a period of time from shutting it off. It lurches forward and then returns to its resting place. It does not do this every time and it is random with no identifiable reason that I can ascertain. The first time it happened I was at a gas station when the truck was turned off and my son got out to get a snack inside the gas station store. When walking toward the store the truck lurched forward nearly hitting my child. This problem was reported to McGovern Jeep Dodge Ram Newton, MA where they have had many opportunities to fix the problem. We have been in and out of the shop several times, with each visit lasting weeks to months. For the most recent repair (i was given the truck back on 9/17/26) the truck was in the shop nearly two months and the dealer involved a stellantis engineer and reported that they replaced the valve body/HIS repair in the transmission as well as both batteries, claiming it solved the problem. Upon return of vehicle I drove it home without turning off the car or stopping anywhere and the truck repeated the same lurching motion after powering down the vehicle. I have provided a video to Mcgovern showing the lurching and they have also stated in their notes the truck lurches 55 seconds after the truck goes to sleep. The truck was returned from McGovern with 20,223 miles and its about 25 miles from the shop to my house where the vehicle currently is. McGovern has made approximately 6 attempts to fix this issue while Planet Jeep Dodge Ram in Franklin MA has made 1 attempt to fix part of the issue. This has resulted in approximately 238 days out of service while at dealers. I have asked McGovern to tow the vehicle back to its shop to be worked on as I do not feel safe driving the vehicle. 2025 Ram 1500 experiences complete engine stalling at low RPM while coasting to stops. First and only owner since June 20, 2025. Vehicle properly maintained. INCIDENTS: August 28, 2026 - stalled twice (12:30 PM at stop sign, 3:30 PM at stop light). Both times coasting with no throttle/brake input. Check engine light appeared. September 17, 2026 - Critical safety incident: Vehicle stalled while releasing brake at stop sign merging with Highway 50 eastbound (50 MPH traffic). Complete loss of power steering and brakes during highway merge. REPAIR ATTEMPTS FAILED: Dropped off September 3, returned September 10 after PCM software update. Stalling returned. Returned September 16-17 for ignition control module update. Vehicle stalled in dealership parking lot same day. Two repair attempts in two weeks - both unsuccessful. DIAGNOSTIC CODES: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303 (cylinder misfires). Codes persist after both repairs, indicating root cause in ignition/fuel delivery system that software updates cannot fix. SAFETY HAZARD: Vehicle shuts off without warning while operating. Loss of steering/brakes during highway merge created imminent collision risk. Vehicle currently unsafe to drive. REQUEST: Investigate systematic manufacturing/design defect in low RPM stalling condition. Multiple failed repairs and diagnostic codes indicate this is not isolated component failure. Vehicle has defect despite 14 months proper maintenance by first owner. Vehicle also has issues with radio and backup system. Parts on order with no delivery date or repair date.

We have had sudden engine shut down issues with this truck for close to a year. We have had it at the dealership several times and they say they cannot get the issue resolved and cannot duplicate it. The truck begins running rough, as you slow the vehicle to a stop, the engine dies; the message shows "auto brake disabled" use run brake to restart. After the last visit to the dealership, the engine missing is more prominent, and the stop happened as the vehicle was moving at low speed (preparing to stop and at a near stop). The dealership claims they ran the engine at idle for a length of time with no issues. They also said they drove it several miles with no issues. I picked up the truck that same day, just before they closed. I went approximately 2 miles and while stopped at a red light, the engine stopped and the auto brake warning appeared again. I drove another 4 miles to a drive-up window, as the vehicle slowed, the engine stopped, and the auto brake activated at slow speed.

While operating the vehicle inside of a car wash, with the transmission in Neutral and the engine at idle (car was propelling the vehicle) the dash chimed, showed an error message for STOP START REQUIRES RESET, shifted into park and set the parking brake uncommanded. This resulted in my vehicle being struck from behind by another vehicle inside of the car wash. The only remedy to get moving again was to STOP the engine, manually shit to PARK, restart, then release the parking brake.

While operating the vehicle in heavy traffic (stop and go) conditions at about 10 mph the vehicle displayed an error message (STOP START RESET REQUIRED) shifted itself from DRIVE to PARK and applied the PARKING BRAKE uncommanded. Note that the auto stop start was in the ON position for several occurrences, but even with the automatic stop/start OFF the same anomaly occurred. These events happened during rush hour traffic on I95 in the express lanes as well as inside of an automatic car wash and during that instance it resulted on another vehicle striking mine from behind. To get the vehicle to move again required me to STOP the engine, switch to PARK, RESTART the engine and release the already applied parking brake.

I purchased a new 2025 Ram 1500. Within the first week of ownership, the vehicle developed repeated engine misfires, check engine lights, and electrical issues, including a dead battery. The vehicle was repaired multiple times under warranty. The engine later suffered an internal failure that required complete engine replacement. After the engine replacement, the vehicle developed a new drivability problem. The truck now consistently shudders and hesitates during light acceleration and while maintaining a steady speed. The RPM has fluctuated unexpectedly, and the vehicle feels as though it is being fuel starved. This occurs without a check engine light. The dealership’s technician reproduced the condition during a test drive and confirmed the shudder. Stellantis technical support instructed the dealership to replace the mass airflow sensor as the first step in diagnosis but advised that they do not know whether this will correct the problem. I am concerned that the hesitation and shuddering could affect the vehicle’s ability to accelerate safely when merging into traffic, crossing intersections, or passing other vehicles. The vehicle has been out of service for an extended period while diagnosis and repairs continue.

My 2025 Ram 1500 has less than 500 miles and in the 4 days of ownership it has completely shut down twice when accelerating from a stopped position. In both incidents, the vehicle was stopped and became completely unresponsive when I attempted to accelerate, resulting in an unexpected loss of motive power. The vehicle is currently being retained by the Ram dealership. The dealership advised that Ram is aware of the issue but does not currently have a repair or remedy available. This creates a serious safety risk when entering or crossing traffic. The problem has occurred twice under substantially the same conditions.

While driving in traffic on the interstate with adaptive cruise control working, all lights on the dash illuminated for 1 to 2 seconds, adaptive cruise control kicked off, the dash then went totally blank for 2 to 3 seconds then slowly came back to life with the fuel gauge showing zero when there was ¾ of a tank prior to this event.

Engine shuts off while idling and also while driving. While driving, the condition most commonly occurs at speeds under 10 mph, but it has occurred on public roads and highways. When the engine shuts off, the truck violently engages Auto Park while the vehicle is still in motion. The condition occurs multiple times per day. There are no warning lights or messages prior to the shutdown. The condition began after a software update performed by the dealership and has been occurring for several months. The vehicle has been returned to the selling dealership for diagnosis and repair on one prior occasion. Following the repair attempt, the condition has continued and appears to have become more frequent. I am concerned that the unexpected engine shutdown and automatic engagement of Auto Park while the vehicle is moving creates a significant safety hazard and may cause damage to the transmission or drivetrain while also creating a possibility of causing an accident while operating vehicle.

The Throttle response is very slow when slowing down and then trying to take back off you are half throttle or more before anything happens, i have had to pull off the road to keep other vehicles from hitting me because the vehicle would not go. There has been a few times on the interstate that the throttle would not accept throttle at all and i would have to keep mashing it to finally get it to respond. I have had the truck at two dealerships and they tell me it is normal and the throttle is acting as it should. This is going to get me or someone Killed!!!! My friend bought a new 2026 ram truck and he says the same thing so this is a newer model ram problem.

The vehicle has a dangerous hesitation and delayed acceleration when I am coasting and then reapplying the accelerator. This occurs in scenarios such as approaching a yield, slowing for a left turn on a green light, or slowing to merge where I reduce speed but do not come to a complete stop. When I press the accelerator to resume speed, the vehicle does not respond for a significant period. The truck fails to accelerate even with substantial throttle input, including pressing the pedal to the floor. After the delay, power may return suddenly. This delayed response creates a serious safety hazard in traffic. The hesitation occurs at the exact time immediate acceleration is needed to clear an intersection or merge into traffic. This has created near-miss situations due to the vehicle not accelerating when expected. Warning lights and diagnostics: No check engine light is illuminated during the events. The issue occurs without any visible warning indicators on the instrument panel. Conditions: The hesitation is most noticeable during coasting and throttle reapplication at low to moderate speeds, especially when slowing but not stopping. I was pulling out of driveway, it is a steep driveway, I have kept vehicle in 4WD, I then backed up to turn around, the truck “lurched” and “jerked” forward abruptly. I thought I had hit the home in front of me or ran over something. It was not the AEB. The vehicle had changed from 4WD auto to 2WD on its own, creating a large “jump” in the gears. I took the vehicle to service and they could not replicate. This has now happened 3 other times and “jerked” me forward at lower speeds. I have slow had the vehicle “jerk” or roughly change gears while driving from 20mph to 40mpg or when lowering gears and different speeds. I have taken it to the dealership to present and was advised to take it to another dealership and test drive with myself to attempt to replicate. I have had the main center display console turn black, both on CarPlay, and using regularly. The front parking impact sensors not display on camera which could be a safety hazard of you had something or someone that was close to proximity to the vehicle and the camera not display. I have taken the vehicle in for this and was told they could not replicate.

Vehicle is shifting it self to park while driving and your truck will lock up in traffic, digital instrument. Cluster will go black then come back saying restart required before you can start driving and get out of harms way. Digital cluster will flash while driving causing the turn signals to malfunction and you can not see how fast you are going. It is also causing the transmission to get stuck in the current gear it is in not allowing for acceleration. You have to turn truck on and off to get the transmission to shift. Purchased truck in feb and has been at dealer for this issue to know repair 3 times now. There is finally a recall explaining exactly what is going on with my truck yet my vin is not included I have been telling Chrysler this is a major safety issue I have almost been in several major accidents because of this!

There have been systemic cylinder misfires (each cylinder), anomalous electrical architecture behavior, and transmission calibration irregularities. The check engine light indicated multiple cylinder misfires, which I understand from the dealer is a common issue with the 2025 model. As the driver, there are a few major issues: Chassis Vibration-pronounced shaking or shuddering transmitted through the steering wheel and seat, particularly during the first engine start of the day or idling. Idle Instability-An erratic or surging idle, where the tachometer needle fluctuates noticeably without any throttle input. Throttle Hesitation-A distinct stumble, lethargy, or loss of power when attempting to accelerate from a stop or while merging. It also requires more energy to accelerate, and stops faster. This problem has been addressed at three (3) CDJR dealerships now, and is still ongoing. The car only has 26k miles on it.

I stopped for red light and waited for about 2 minutes for light to turn green. I took my foot off the brake pedal and put it on the gas pedal. Truck refused to go forward. Message in IP flashed ad stated to go into to park then back to drive. I failed on first attempt and had to do the procedure again to get truck to move forward. I think this is equivalent to stalling out at a stop. This has happened to me about 4 times total, 2 times today. No warning lights stay ,like a check engine light. Luckily haven't been rear ended yet. unable to take picture since i have to get truck going in traffic. If my wife was driving she might panic and be stalled out in traffic.
