The defect: SKYLINE IS RECALLING 22,372 MY 2004-2007 ALLIANCE, ALJO, CELEBRITY, CENTURY, FREESTYLE, LAYTON, NOMAD, RAMPAGE, SEAVIEW, TRAILRIDER, AND WEEKENDER FIFTH WHEEL AND TRAVEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION. THE REFRIGERATOR MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.
The risk: IF THIS SOLUTION IS EXPOSED TO AN IGNITION SOURCE UNDER CERTAIN SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES, IT CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
The remedy: SKYLINE IS WORKING WITH DOMETIC TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 08E032). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST THE OWNER IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SKYLINE NOMAD TRAVEL TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE REAR END OF THE TRAILER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE REFRIGERATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FLAMES ENGULFED THE ENTIRE TRAILER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE TRAILER WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 215,000.

DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR THAT HAS A LEAK IN THE COOLING UNIT THAT IS EVIDENCED BY YELLOW RESIDUE AT BASE OF COOLING UNIT. IT IS NOT COOLING AT ALL NOW AND DOMETIC STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE UNIT UNDER THE RECALL UNLESS IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS UNIT IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
