On XXX, while stopping for the night in [XXX], when we went to cook supper, we discovered the back right burner in our Winnebago 2108FBS Micro Minnie cooktop (Suburban SCNB3B6RED) had disconnected from its mounting bracket and fell sideways in the burner hole, with its manifold pipe disconnected completely from the control valve LP gas port. If the control for that burner been turned on, the gas would have gone directly into the interior of the stove cooktop and into the interior of the RV, quite possibly igniting from one of the other burners or an ignition source, such as the RV furnace, and caused a catastrophic fire or explosion. In the case of the first one, I found the screw and o-ring, reassembled the burner on the support while placing the burner manifold pipe on the control valve LP Port. Upon returning home, while cleaning up the camper, I discovered the back left burner now had the same condition but it was not as obvious. The screw and o-ring were gone and the burner was resting on top of the burner support, with the manifold disconnected from that burner's control valve and LP Port. In this case, with the burner seeming in proper position but the manifold disconnected, it would be very easy for someone to try to light that burner and ending up with a fire or explosion. I was not able to find the tiny screw or the o-ring for the second failed burner. These Suburban cooktops are known to have this problem, caused by normal travel vibrations. The tiny single screw holding the burner in place with the manifold pipe positioned on the valve LP Port comes loose and the burner assembly disconnects from the burner control valve LP port. The probability is high for failure. 2 out of 3 of our burners have now failed. The consequences of this failure would have deadly consequences. These stoves should not be used in RV's and all such cooktops should be periodically checked before use, a fix applied, or the cooktop replaced. Not safe as is. Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
Service Bulletin sent to dealers advising of the required legal verbiage each RO should document.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
