The defect: Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2020 TA Series, 2019 L Series Aerial Device, 2018-2025 Service Body, LS Series, and AT Series trucks. The Power Distribution Module (PDM 10) circuit may experience a voltage spike, which can damage the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) and disrupt chassis functions, including the PTO switch, rearview mirror, or rearview camera.
The risk: A damaged TCCM and disrupted chassis functions can result in a loss of handling and control or brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Altec will install a diode to the ignition hot circuit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 8, 2025. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3229.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS

The defect: Altec Industries, Inc is recalling certain 2017-2018 Digger Derrick, Aerial Devices, and Service Body vehicles, equipped with Whelen accessory brake lights. Depending on the specific wiring of the vehicle, these brake lights may illuminate when the brake pedal has not been pressed. As such these vehicles fail to comply to with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk: If the brake lights incorrectly illuminate, it can confuse other drivers, possibly increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake lights, free of charge. The recall began February 7, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 708.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Ford that certain 2015-2019 model-year Ford vehicles equipped with Altec equipment require a one-time inspection of the rear-view camera to ensure that replacement is not required to prevent a condition that exists relating to motor vehicle safety and compliance.

Altec Industries, Inc. has been notified by Ford Motor Company that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2015 - 2019 Model Year Ford vehicles. On the affected vehicles, the rear-view camera could display a blank or distorted image on the center display screen when the vehicle is in reverse. This relates to the operation and customer satisfaction of certain Altec units with service bodies.

STRUCTURE:BODY

Altec has learned that certain GB5 general service bodies built from April 2018 to September 2024 may experience the unexpected movement of the street side grab handle when used to climb to the top of the service body. A solution has been developed to replace the rivet nuts with new hardware.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Ford Motor Company that a condition exists relating to motor vehicle safety, compliance, or emissions in a vehicle you possess that is equipped with Altec equipment. On certain Expedition and Navigator model year 2018 to 2023 vehicles built March 2017 through May 2023; Super Duty model year 2019 to 2023 vehicles built March 2018 to May 2023, the supplemental owner's guide does not include an accurate description of all head restraints and instructions for adjusting or removing certain center head restraints. The inability to access this information increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The body compartment wiring on certain Altec aerial devices, digger derricks, and body-only units built from 2014 to 2021 contains an in-line fuse located close to the lighting in the compartment, while other units are fused upstream, closer to the power source. Altec has learned that the units affected should have an in-line fuse close to the lighting, but this fuse was not installed on some units. In addition, some units may have exposed terminals at the end of certain portions of the wiring in the body. If the exposed terminals contact each other or with ground, the resulting direct short could damage the body compartment lighting. Inspect the body compartment lighting circuit at the unit's next scheduled service interval or within six months of receiving the SIL, whichever comes first. Use the Inspection Procedure or contact Altec to perform the inspection. This inspection and repair are covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec, the customer, or the customer's warranty provider. Altec will perform the work for free at an Altec facility. If the customer or the customer's warranty provider performs the work, a warranty claim must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/or labor.

EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR

It has been discovered that some hydraulic lines installed by Altec may be in contact with chassis air brake line(s). Some DOT inspections have considered this to be a violation of federal regulation 49 CFR § 393.45 b 2. Over time, chafing of the air brake line(s) could result in loss of air pressure and reduction in braking performance. Altec requires the routing of the hydraulic lines to be inspected no later than the next periodic maintenance interval. The affected unit are some T40P cable placers installed on Ford F750 chassis from May 2015 to January 2020
