Incident Overview: A Continental Control Contact Sport SRS+ tire (DOT 5323) experienced a catastrophic internal structural failure during normal driving on a wet roadway. The tire had approximately 50% tread remaining and was 1–1.5 years old. Failure Description: Inspection indicates internal belt/carcass separation originating within the tire structure, leading to rapid pressure loss and rupture. No road hazard or external impact was present. Crash Sequence: The failure caused immediate loss of control, vehicle yaw, roadway departure, and multiple impacts (frontal and lateral). The driver airbag deployed, confirming measurable crash force. Injuries: - Aggravation of pre-existing back condition (surgery required) - Hip labral tear and bone spur (surgery required) - Neck and shoulder pain Conclusion: The initiating event was a premature internal structural tire failure, not driver negligence or external hazard.

The valve body in the ten speed transmission failed while driving. The transmission did a rough shift and a message popped up on the display saying that power has been reduced along with the check engine light illuminating. The transmission reduced usable gears to prevent damage. I was a hazard on the road way due to not being able to get up to the posted speed limit. The car is at Harvey Cadillac (the dealership I purchased the car from) and I have been told GM is going to replace the transmission under warranty.

I purchased a 2023 Cadillac CT5 from a Cadillac dealership in Cleveland, Ohio on June 24th, 2025 with slightly under 18K miles. On July 30th, I took the car to a local Cadillac dealer due to on a few occasions, while driving down the highway, the car went into "decreased acceleration, drive with care". The service department said the Cadillac had over 90k recalls for the transmission body valve and the backlog for the part was significant, in some cases I read over a year. I hadn't even made one payment yet, and now it's in the shop for who knows how long. Shouldn't the consumer be protected? I was not made aware of any recalls, and the dealership is denying any wrong doing since the carfax report was clean. This is not ok. I am requesting a buy back, but may need to involve legal counsel.

The lane departure didn’t work as expected to avoid a crash. I was hurt and bruised due to the air bags never deployed after hit on right wheel number flew off causing my to go into 5 guard rails . The whole front end was destroyed into pieces “no airbags” I’m lucky to be alive. It was inspected by police and my insurance company consider it total loss.nothing before or after the impact

At 22,000 miles, driving along at approximately 40mph, vehicle felt like it surged - check engine light went on and message of "limited acceleration - drive with care" appeared. Key cycled the car, CEL and message remained. Car would then not drive higher than 3rd or 4th gear and at limited speed as I tried to get it home. Once I pulled into my driveway message appeared "Service Transmission Now - Unable to Shift Soon." Car would then not move when shifted into any gear, including reverse. Had vehicle towed to dealer where they found the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. There are no available parts anywhere in the country and was told this could be a long wait for repair. Upon searching, there are 2020-22 GM vehicles with similar issues like Chevy and GMC where they have recalled the valve body, but the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V is not included in this and likely should be. My dealer told me my CT5 is not the only one they have currently waiting on this exact part.

We just purchased this 2023 Cadillac CT5 from Cadillac of South Charlotte and took delivery by long haul truck at our home in Seymour, TN on [XXX]. It had 40,744 miles on the odometer. We drove the car approximately 12 miles when suddenly the car went into reduced power mode where it would not shift past 4th or 5th gear limiting our speed to approximately 45 miles per hour. We drove slowly to the closest GM Service location that was just a few miles away and during that time the message started alternating to another message that said the transmission was about to seize. At that point we had the car towed to Cadillac of Knoxville and the next day they told us that the transmission control valve body was bad. I have since learned that General Motors has recalled over 90,000 vehicles due to a transmission control valve issue that can cause the wheels to momentarily lock up, increasing the risk of a crash. Supposedly the affected models include just the 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4, CT5, 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6, and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro, with notifications to start being sent to owners this month mid-April. The recall for that issue according to what I read is to program the car to monitor the transmission and if it starts to fail to go into a reduced power mode. This is what my 2023 CT5 has just experienced. The Service Consultant at the dealership said they had ordered the part but that it was back ordered with no expected delivery date. Our new car is dead at the dealership. Everything I have read says GM is not fixing the defect in these transmissions. They are replacing the part with the same defectively designed part and transmissions that have been "fixed" are soon returning having to be "fixed" again. My vehicle is not covered by the most recent recall. Please take steps to expand the recall because they are still using the same transmissions and nothing has been done to fix the design flaw with them. The contact owned a 2023 Cadillac CT5. The contact stated that while exiting the highway on the far right lane on a 2-lane exit at 45 MPH, a message appeared on the instrument panel that read "Steering assistance reduced, drive with care" and "Service Power Steering". The contact stated that he was driving the vehicle while his son was seated in the passenger seat when the crash occurred. The contact attempted to veer into the left lane when the steering wheel seized causing the contact to crash into the rear bumper of the vehicle in front. There was no property damage. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was not towed. A police report was not filed. The contact stated that he and his son did not suffer injuries and that the other vehicle involved did have two individuals who reported injuries, the injuries sustained were unknown and whether they received medical attention was unknown. The contact drove his vehicle to his residence, and from there the vehicle was towed to a local autobody shop where the vehicle was not diagnosed, however, it was inspected, and the contact was advised that the vehicle was a total loss. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned that before the crash, the transmission failed and was replaced by the dealer where a buyback negotiation was pending. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,480.

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
This Preliminary information communicates an issue with the SES MIL and DTC P062B and engineering is currently investigating.
PI to help diagnose A/C concern
This Preliminary information communicates an issue with an OTA pending message still displayed after an OTA event and how to reset/clear the message.
This preliminary information is to inform technicians and customers that the voice command will be inoperative when trying to open applications. Engineering is investigating and this PI will be converted to a bulletin when a repair is available.
This Preliminary information communicates to dealers a procedure to reset the radio.
This Preliminary information communicates to dealer to perform a MEC reset for wireless projection issues
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
