Recall 19V-293 Post Remedy Failures
On June 30, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ25002 to investigate and review the effectiveness of Recall 19V-293. This recall was intended to address deterioration and detachment of shifter cable bushings by replacing them with an improved bushing that is less susceptible to deterioration from chemicals, oils, and solvents in MY2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automotive US LLC (FCA US). If the shifter cable becomes detached from the transmission, the transmission gear position may not match the driver’s intended gear selection. This mismatch could result in unintended vehicle movement or rollaway when the driver believes the transmission is in PARK, increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury. ODI has received sixty-three (63) Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQ) alleging worn or misadjusted shifter cables and/or shifter cable detachments in subject vehicles that had already received the remedy for Recall 19V-293. Complainants reported incidents of bushing deterioration and detachment, resulting in gear-selection mismatch despite the prior recall repair, raising concerns regarding the effectiveness and durability of the implemented remedy and the adequacy of the recall. ODI’s investigation sought to determine whether the remedy used in recall 19V-293 adequately addressed the cause of the failure and whether other vehicles using the same bushing design might be affected. In response, FCA US and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (Dura) determined that the repair for Recall 19V-293 did not sufficiently address the issue, and therefore, a safety defect exists in the subject vehicle population. As a result, FCA US and Dura initiated the following recall actions: · Recall 25V-674 (FCA US) is intended to address MY 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles repaired under 19V-293 or otherwise equipped with suspect service parts. Remedy is under development. · Recall 25E-065 (Dura) is intended to address the defect at the equipment level by recalling affected gearshift control cable assemblies distributed as service components. Remedy is under development. The recalls initiated by FCA US (25V-674), and Dura Automotive Systems Inc. (25E-065) were received prior to ODI sending an Information Request (IR) letter to FCA. These two recalls seem to resolve the concerns that prompted investigation RQ25002 by replacing the previously recalled and service-supplied shifter cable assembly with an improved design, currently under development. The vehicle scope concern identified in this query was addressed by the new recalls including all Model Year 2013–2016 Dodge Dart vehicles produced and equipped with the affected shifter cable assembly. Accordingly, ODI is closing Investigation RQ25002. The agency will continue to monitor field performance and recall completion data to evaluate the effectiveness of the new remedy. ODI reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. Brake Power Assist Failure
On November 24, 2015, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, US LLC, (FCA), submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA regarding a brake booster defect in approximately 105,458 model year (MY) 2013 through 2014Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L engine and produced between February 27, 2012 and January 23, 2014 (NHTSA Recall# 15V-800, FCA Recall# R63).According to FCA's DIR, the affected vehicles, may experience engine oil migration from the vacuum pump to the brake booster.Brake booster diaphragms exposed to oil may become damaged, resulting in a loss of brake power assist.FCA's recall will inspect the affected vehicles for the presence of engine oil in the brake booster. If no oil is found, the vacuum tube assembly will be replaced with a new design part.If oil is found, the vacuum pump, vacuum tube assembly, brake booster and master cylinder will be replaced. On June 18, 2015, the Office of Defects Investigations opened Preliminary Evaluation PE15-024 to investigate complaints alleging sudden increases in brake pedal effort with corresponding reductions in brake performance in MY 2013 Dodge Dart vehicles. The vehicle population and Failure Report figures in this resume are limited to the MY 2013 Dodge Dart vehicles that are the subject vehicles of PE15-024 all of which are included in the FCA recall. Some of the complaints reported hearing a popping noise during a brake application, which corresponded with sudden reaction force from the brake pedal, increased difficulty in applying the pedal and decreased brake effectiveness.FCA's analysis of field return booster assemblies indicated that some brake booster diaphragms exposed to the engine oil leak condition experienced sudden catastrophic ruptures, resulting in complete loss of booster function. This investigation is hereby closed based on the FCA recall. The VOQs associated with the closing of this investigation are: 10795258, 10795140, 10790670, 10790397, 10786152, 10786142, 10783492, 10783153, 10781418, 10779446, 10778244, 10776581, 10765244, 10765141, 10763566, 10763143, 10762254, 10761075, 10760965, 10759817, 10758707, 10758639, 10750235, 10748935, 10747634, 10745494, 10745395, 10745185, 10744577, 10744361, 10744052, 10736149, 10734443, 10734108, 10732067, 10726648, 10715993, 10713690, 10695212, 10668965, 10660526, 10659435, 10638228, 10620713, 10619184, 10610512, 10597398, 10583883, 10569142, 10565689, 10556239, and 10533008.

My name is [XXX], and I am writing to formally report a potentially serious safety issue involving a wheel/rim on my 2013 Dodge Dart SXT with the 2.0L engine. On the night of [XXX], I was driving home from work from Monticello, New York, to Loch Sheldrake, New York. The trip took place late at night and continued past midnight. During or after this trip, I discovered significant damage to one of the vehicle’s wheels. Upon inspection, there appeared to be an opening or breach in the metal of the rim, with irregular and damaged metal surrounding the affected area. I have photographs documenting the condition and can provide them for inspection. I am concerned that this may represent a structural failure or other structural defect of the wheel. A failure of a wheel while the vehicle is being operated could potentially result in loss of tire pressure, tire failure, loss of vehicle control, or a serious accident. To the best of my knowledge, I did not intentionally damage or modify the wheel. I therefore request that Dodge/Stellantis document this incident and determine whether the condition could potentially be related to a manufacturing defect, material defect, casting defect, corrosion, fatigue, or another condition affecting the structural integrity of the wheel. The damaged wheel was removed by my mechanic. Unfortunately, the wheel was subsequently sent to a nearby salvage/junkyard before I was aware that it might be important for a safety investigation. My mechanic informed me that the facility is LKQ – OEM Recycled / Aftermarket by Keystone. I do not currently know the exact location of the facility, but I understand that it is somewhere in the local area. I am attempting to obtain the exact location and determine whether the wheel can still be located and recovered. I have photographic evidence of the damage and can provide it, along with the repair documentation and any other information available to me. On June 11, 2026, I took my vehicle to a certified dealership to have safety recall R63 (NHTSA Campaign Number 15V-800) performed. The dealership inspected the vehicle, claimed no oil was found at the break booster, and only replaced the vacuum supply tube, leaving the original vacuum pump in place. Recently, I experienced a sudden and total loss of power brake assist while driving, resulting in a rock hard brake pedal. Upon inspecting the vehicle myself, I disconnected the vacuum hose directly at the mechanical vacuum pump and found visible oil pooling at the pump's output fitting. I have captured this on video. This oil migration is the exact defect the recall is intended to fix, and it has now destroyed my brake booster. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership on 7/8/2026. However, the service manager is refusing to replace the brake booster and master cylinder under the R63 recall. They claim the booster failed for unrelated reasons, despite the physical evidence of the oil leak originating from the vacuum pump. The initial recall repair was ineffective at correcting the defect, and the dealership is improperly denying me the federally mandated safety recall remedy by attempting to charge me out-of-pocket for the resulting catastrophic failure.

The transmission shift cable fails to engage go into reverse or park when car is starting up. It fails to maintain connection and has resulted in near misses when backing up or attempting to get around another vehicle in a parking lot. This appears to be an issue associated with an ongoing safety recall that has NOT had a timely remedy as it has now been 10 months (as of October 2025) since the recall was first announced. No remedy has been reached. Incident appears related to the 2019 recall.
