While traveling down the road a bump or dip in the road causes the front wheels begin to shake and jerk violently causing the vehicle to drift over the road and loose steering control. This situation is amplified when carrying or pulling a load and is extremely difficult to manage and stop once started. Braking exacerbates the situation resulting in almost loosing control. This has happed multiple times, multiple dates over the years, at different speeds usually over 45mph.
I experienced what is known as the “Death wobble” after contacting a bumpy road at approximately 70 mph. I was able to exit the freeway and determine that it wasn’t a blown tire or some other condition that caused this. After some research on my vehicle, I determined that this “death wobble” is fairly common with my model and year of truck.

Truck has only 70,371 mile on it and the RTM Module associated with the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) failed and must be replaced, at owners expense. The TPMS is NHTSA mandated safety requirement. There should be specific published performance standards and expectations. Example: it is known the sensors themselves are battery operated and have an estimated battery life of 5-7 years. The RTM module is permanently mounted to the vehicle frame/body and should carry a reasonable published life expectancy.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, he noticed that the rim was corroded around the valve stem, causing tire to become deflated. The contact stated that the failure had caused him to inflate the tire each time he drove the vehicle. The low tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was incompatibility with the valve stem and rim. The valve stem was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for repair, and the dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

My truck had a recall for the door locks freezing, which my truck had an issue with. The dealer performed the recall and 1 of the doors continued to freeze. The door will not latch and it will open when driving down the road. I took it back to the dealer and they charged me to diagnose and confirm it's still doing it. They will not repair it again, they said the recall repair was inadequate and it would cost 900$ to fix.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that there was an untraceable leak on the passenger’s side front door, allowing water to pool inside the footwell. The contact stated that after it rained, the carpet was saturated. The contact was concerned about mold and mildew growing in the carpet, as also a possibility of a short circuit. The contact had not taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic or the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

I have a 2017 ford f350 diesel 6.7 and replaced the low pressure fuel pump in 2022 at about 57000 miles. Then again in July of 2026 the fuel pump has had to be replaced again at 68000 miles. I read that many 2022 ford vehicles were recalled in that year for a bad fuel pump. So I think I might have been given a bad fuel pump from that year 2022 and now its bad again. This is a know problem for fords I dont understand why there is not a recall for these pumps. Ford is been building bad pumps for a long time and are getting away with it, A fuel pump should not have to be replaced after 3 years. The work was all done at the Beach Ford Dealership in myrtle beach sc 29575.

These trucks are known for long service life, and many Ford diesel trucks routinely remain in service for 20 years or more and exceed 250,000 miles when properly maintained. For that reason, I did not expect a sudden and catastrophic fire in a truck with only 130,000 miles. While driving, passing motorists alerted us the truck was on fire. The fire appeared to originate in the engine compartment and spread extremely rapidly. Within a very short period, the front of the truck was engulfed in flames and sustained catastrophic damage. Based on the speed and severity of the fire, I am concerned a failure in the engine compartment, fuel system, electrical system, or another vehicle component may have caused or contributed to the fire. This truck has been well maintained, kept clean, and responsibly cared for. I followed the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines and did not expect a sudden engine-compartment fire. After the fire, I found reports of other F-350 fires and references to fire-related complaints and investigations. This raises serious concerns Ford may have known of a potential fire risk involving these trucks. This incident created major safety hazard not only to the occupants of the truck, but to other motorists and anyone nearby. Had passing drivers not alerted us, the outcome could have been far worse. The severity of the fire required a major emergency response, including multiple fire trucks and police. A vehicle fire of this magnitude presents an obvious risk of serious injury or death. I request NHTSA investigate Ford F-350 and vehicle fire incidents to determine whether a defect involving the fuel system, electrical system, or related parts may cause these trucks to catch fire without warning. The owners manual states I have a tank capacity of 36 gallons. On E I can only fit about 26 gallons. If I were to take my average MPG and use the advertised 36 gallons to figure out how far I would run out of fuel and this would cause the vehicle to stall while driving. Ford is aware of this issue and knows how to fix it but declined to take care of the safety repair.

Driver assistance

I recently replaced a defective reductant (DEF) pump and wiring harness due to corrosion. The cause and repairs were diagnosed and performed by a ford dealership. Without addressing the issue the vehicle would randomly engage a "limp" mode and limit the speed to 50 mph, forcing the driver to operate at unsafe speeds on freeways and highways. Defect is a hazard to driver and other vehicles due to the unpredictable speed control caused by the defective parts. Ford is aware of the defective part and issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-2161.
The contact owned a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving at 5 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated to 52 MPH. The contact stated that the RPM level increased to 6000. The contact's vehicle crashed into a tree. In addition, the contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was condemned to total loss. The contact received medical attention at the scene. The following day, the contact went to the hospital for additional treatment. The contact sustained injuries to his ribs and chest, headaches, a swollen right hand, and breathing issues. A Police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 87,000.

The truck unexpectedly downshifts to 1st gear when traveling up to 45 mph and causes a dangerous change in speed. It recovers after a few seconds and goes back to normal shifting. This has happened multiple times. Once about 6 months ago and then again a couple days ago.
While driving my 2017 Ford F-350 equipped with the 6R140 transmission, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete transmission failure due to a valve body malfunction. Without warning, the transmission lost all ability to engage gears, resulting in an immediate loss of power and drivability. This failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion, presenting a serious safety risk to both occupants and other motorists — especially in high-speed or high-traffic situations. The risk is further compounded when the vehicle is towing, as it may increase stopping distance, reduce control, and leave the driver stranded in unsafe conditions. This type of failure appears to be part of a broader pattern affecting this transmission platform, which raises significant concerns about its reliability and safe operation under normal usage. There were warning lights or other symptoms prior to the failure. The damage has since been remedied, with an astounding out of pocket cost of $8,300 for a total transmission rebuild.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the tailgate independently opened, and the contact lost cargo stored in the truck bed onto the highway. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but was a recurring failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V864000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while reversing into the parking space, the rear-view camera image turned dark, and the rear tailgate erroneously unlatched, causing the tailgate to open and struck a pole. During the failure, the rear tailgate was damaged. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that parts for the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V864000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) were on backorder. The contact also received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number 22V644000 (Back Over Prevention) and 22V880000 (Power Train) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was 75,000.

When you start the vehicle the brake pedal falls to the floor and you can not stop it. Also at a stop the brake pedal slowly falls to the floor. According to the dealer they don’t know what causes this and it still does it. They said no ABS lights came on so this is normal. I don’t think it’s normal if I put it in reverse and can not get it to stop because the pedal recedes out of my reach. The truck kept going in reverse the brakes wouldn’t stop it.
Brake rotors are glazing over after replacement, truck is rarely driven as its a weekend vehicle in town. I was told when I took in to dealership that the problem wasnt sticking calipers at the time but dealership didnt confirm checking, they just replaced the rotors and pads then sent me on my way. Now at current servicing the problem is re-occuring. The service tech is now attempting to re-charge me to diagnose and repair. I'm simply asking to verify if there was ever any recall related to this vehicle in the past to support my issue
Visibility

When backing into my driveway, I was not able to see with my backup cameras the steps that protruded into my driveway. I almost backed into the steps. The camera is blurry. The dealership will not replace camera.

The vehicle was taken to a glass center, where it was diagnosed with stress cracks. The mechanic informed the contact that it was a common failure, and the part was on backorder. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the sunroof glass was fractured, and the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Tires & wheels

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler All Terrain Adventure, Tire Size: LT275/70/R18, DOT Number: (N/A). While the contact's friend was driving 55 MPH, there was a blowout of the rear passenger’s side tire. The driver prevented a crash; however, the failure caused a significant amount of damage when the truck bed lowered and nearly separated from the chassis, the hubcap detached, and the exhaust pipe was bent in half. The driver pulled over to a truck stop and installed the spare and secured the truck bed to the frame with harness straps to prevent the truck bed from separating. The contact notified the manufacturer about the failure and requested that the tire be shipped for inspection to determine any potential liability. The contact had not yet submitted the tire or any documentation to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
Factory Ford 20” wheels with Factory Installed Michelin 275/65 R20 LTX A/T2 tires. Tires have just under 30,000 miles on them and still have more than 50% tread. Tread wear is even. Tires have been rotated. Truck has 73,000 miles but had different wheels and tires for first 43,000 miles. I stored these wheels and tires inside climate controlled building. When my aftermarket tires wore out, I put these back on. They had 10 miles on them when I took them off. I have had them on since April 2022. On Friday June 5th, 2026 I was traveling about 60 MPH and had a catastrophic blow-out of the passenger side rear tire. The tires blew completely apart and the wheel hit the ground and the back side of the wheel broke off, before I could get over to the side of the road the tire beat the bed and running board to pieces and even damaged the exhaust and bumper. The wheel was ruined. Thousands of dollars in damage. All the tires are in good condition, not dry rotted, no cracks, the truck has been indoors in a garage. They hold air. TMPS works and I check my pressure all the time. I had just set the air pressure early that morning before leaving. The tires are less than 10 years old which is the date for replacement. They have more than half their tread. No cracks. They hold pressure perfectly. They are worn evenly. No reason for the tire to have blown out other than a manufacturing defect. When I got stopped there was a huge hole in tire and no tread on it at all.

Exterior lighting

In Texas this year we had 50+ days of 100F +. All the plastic parts on front and back cracked from within. Spider cracks form where the plastic is molded. Ford says it’s cosmetic however it’s on every piece of plastic and the dealers states “ I have seen a lot of this this year and all truck under 36 month warranty Ford covered as a defect hou out of warranty it’s a cosmetic issue.
The door ajar light will come on and remain on after starting the engine and while driving. This happens while in park and while driving. Even after opening and reclosing the doors before moving the door adjar warning light will not go away. If i get up to 55 mph it'll finally go off. The cabin lights remain on while the display light is on distracting at night and beeps while driving. The doors will not automatically lock, whe I try to lock them, the unlock even at speeds of 45mph. This has been an on going issue since we bought the truck. How am i supposed to know if the door is secure if I've checked them all before driving but the light will not go away. Everything I get to the dealership the lights are gone and they say they are unable to troubleshoot without the issue happening in the moment. Videos do not help they say. How am I going g to know the door will not fly open on the road?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE, HE BECAME AWARE THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MALLOY FORD OF WINCHESTER (1911 VALLEY AVE, WINCHESTER, VA 22601, (540) 667-4434) TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,303.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling rough. Additionally, the vehicle had smoke coming from the tailpipe and the contact smelled an abnormal odor. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V644000 (Back Over Prevention) and 22V880000 (Power Train) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue.
