The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 - 60 MPH, the AdvanceTrac and power steering systems became inoperable. The AdvanceTrac and power steering warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic, where an unknown diagnostic was made. The AdvanceTrac system was reset, and unknown power steering system repairs were performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic several times. The mechanic reset the AdvanceTrac system a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall and the vehicle did not have warranty coverage. The failure mileage was approximately 29,104.

The contact stated that the vehicle steering wheel had seized and was unable to turn to the left or the right. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called a dealer and was informed about a manufacturer’s recall for the electric power steering assist; however, the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was then transferred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 743,000.
I was driving to my drs appointment and as I was pulling up to the hospital I saw a message from my dash and my steering wheel locked up and I had to get it towed and then sent to the dealership but since I had made a few of previous attempts to get it fixed with u guys it wasn’t getting no response, so I had to go get it fixed force and I ended up with a bill..
Power steering went out and made me crash . Prior owner got it fixed but still didn’t fix issue
Ive had multiple accidents trying to get this car repaired . There are recalls all the way up to 2010 yet 2011 are also having the same hydraulic issues and ABS issues .This is outrageous i have to spent over 3000 dollars and the issues still is resolved especially when im paying for manufacturers error.I am not hard on any of my cars but this one is HORRIBLE
Power steering turns off when you go above a certain speed and the service advance power steering comes on.
Their is a recall for Ford Abs Module yet their needs to be one for 2012 Ford Fusions Se as well I have paid over 3200 dollars for my brakes alone . I have had 2 near misses and was in an unreported incident today from power loss on my breaks . Very unsafe for me and those around
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to shake without warning. The contact then stated that she attempted to operate the A/C unit, when she heard an abnormal sound inside the unit. The contact also stated that the unit failed to dispense cool air. Additionally, the contact stated that after the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to respond for five seconds. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that due to an unknown electrical failure, the A/C compressor needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage as approximately 120,000.
Steering failed rack and pinion
The car suddenly accelerated 3 times since it was purchased new in 2011. The 1st time I was parking and the car suddenly accelerated and hit a cement wall. The second time I was also entering a parking spot and the car suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree. I took it to my dealer and they were unable to replicate the problem. this was in 2015. On 9/13/2022 I was about to make a right turn and suddenly the car accelerated at high speed and crossed over the road onto the golf course before I was able to slow it down. I immediately parked the car and haven't driven it since. I feel that it is unsafe to drive especially since the dealer was unable to identify the problem.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and was slow to accelerate. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.
After starting the car, the brakes were not working properly--it required a lot of pressure to get the brake pedal to work. The brake light also came on indicating a problem with the ABS. After turning the car off and restarting it, the brakes worked fine again. The same thing happened the next day. That's when we took it for repairs. Our mechanic advised us to take it to a Ford dealer. Santa Monica Ford told us the ABS module and HCU need to be replaced at a cost of $2800 (and because there are delays getting the parts from Ford, it will take at least a couple of weeks). There is a related recall on Ford Fusions up to 2010, NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). After some research, it's apparent that this is a common problem for Ford Fusion 2011 and 2012 models as well. It looks like the problem extends through 2012 and the recall should apply to those model years as well.
TL* THE CONTACT'S MOTHER OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SINCE 2015, THE VEHICLE WOULD SERGE FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE OWNER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BLACKWELL FORD INC. (41001 PLYMOUTH RD, PLYMOUTH, MI 48170) WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT AND HER MOTHER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURE. RECENTLY, WHILE HER MOTHER WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE UNINTENDEDLY ACCELERATED OVER A PARKING BARRIER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HER MOTHER WAS PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE DRIVER AVOIDED CRASHING INTO A TREE BUT CLIPPED A STOP SIGN BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT'S MOTHER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME WITH ASSISTANCE FROM A FAMILY MEMBER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WENT TO STORE WHEN I GOT BACK IN CAR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THEN IT SAID SERVICE . WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, SAYS SERVICE ADVANCETRACK AS WELL AS SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW WHICH HAS BEEN LISTED AS AN ISSUE FOR MANY OF MY MAKE AND MODEL CAR
MY CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STREETING WHEEL. AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR THE WHEEL TIGHTEN UP AND IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO TURN. POWER STREERING AT FAULT IS WHAT FLASHES ON THE DASHBORED. I USE MY CAR TO GO TO SCHOOL AND WORK AND RIGHT NOW IT'S HARD FOR ME TO DO SO. I WENT TO THE CAR DEALER SHIP AND THEY WANT TWO GRAND TO FIX IT! THEY SAY I NEED RACK AND PINION.
NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING FAULT WARNING WOULD FLASH ACROSS THE DISPLAY. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, THE DISPLAY CHANGES WARNINGS AND SAYS "POWER STEERING FAULT" OR "SEVERICE POWER STEERING NOW". HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC CLEAR OUT THE CODE AND STEERING WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL...EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FINE SINCE BUT NOW THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A WHINING/WEIRD SOUND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL UNDER 10MPH AND ITS VERY STIFF WHEN TRYING TO TURN BUT ONCE I GET OVER 10MPH IT LOOSENS UP AND IS NORMAL...MY CAR ISN'T CURRENTLY UNDER ANY RECALL BUT I FEEL LIKE THE POWER STEERING SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL IF ITS A CONTINUOUS ISSUE

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SUNNYSIDE MOTOR CO., INC. (944 MAIN ST, HOLDEN, MA 01520; (508) 829-4333) WHO STATED THAT THE SENSOR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE I AM EITHER DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, TURNING OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS IN NJ.
IF MY CAR SITS AT IDLE FOR TOO LONG LIKE STUCK IN TRAFFIC OR WAITING AT A DRIVE THRU THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT. THE RPMS REV UP BUT IT ACTS LIKE IT IS STUCK . IT WON'T MOVE OVER A FEW MPH. THEN IF YOU SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND THE WHOLE CAR JERKS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT RIGHT. YOU CAN FLOOR THE GAS AND IT BARELY MOVES THEN IT WILL COME OUT OF IT AND DRIVE FINE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO SIT IDLE AGAIN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX IT AT MULTIPLE MECHANICS SHOPS AND NOTHING WORKS. HAVE CHANGED MULTIPLE SENSORS AND IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.07
LOSE OF POWER STEERING AND MY DASHBOARD KEEPS FLASHING TO CHECK IT! MY DASHBOARD ALSO KEEPS SAYING THAT MY ADVANCE TRAC ISNT RIGHT OR UNSTABLE! PLUS MY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT BLOWS HOT AIR ON HOT DAYS! MY AIR BAG WAS SUPPOSED TO BEEN FIXED ON 02/11/2020 BY A FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT IS BACK TO IT'S OLD SELF
THE A/C AIR BLOWER SOMETIMES COME ON THEN OFF, IT ALWAYS COMES ON WHEN I HAVE THE FOG LIGHTS ON. I HEARD OTHERS WITH 2012 FORD FUSION HAVE THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
