2014 Ford Fusion Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the front driver's side door latch failed to operate as intended and the door failed to close securely. The contact stated that due to the failure the vehicle was driven to work with an open door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the front driver's door latch was inoperable. The contact was informed that the front driver's door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that a week later, the rear passenger's door latch failed to latch as intended. The vehicle was scheduled to be inspected. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V775000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,198.

I Had my car at Southgate Ford from 0ct 17- 20. During this time my car was to be serviced for the recalls. However upon receiving my car back. I was told the recall that is showing incomplete( door latches) was unable to be repaired due to the car only being registered in MI and PA. At this time it is showing my vin is still showing said recalls as incomplete.

The trunk on my 2014 ford fusion SE randomly opens. This occurs 3 to 4 times per day. Sometimes while driving, other times while its parked. This obstructs my view, and can cause danger to other drivers if contents in my trunk fly out.

The trunk of my 2014 Ford Fusion SE has been opening up randomly on its own for at least 3 years now. The trunk opens up at completely random times and is not exclusively associated with use of the car. The trunk opens up overnight as much as when the car is in use, unlocked, locked, or when the trunk has been purposely opened by me. My safety is put at risk because it provides unlocked access to the contents of my trunk to the public. My safety is put at risk because it has opened while driving. The safety of others is put at risk because my trunk opening while driving could effect my driving such that other drivers in my vicinity will be put at risk. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle or component has been inspected by the manufacturer and others and were not able to reproduce the problem. The other symptom of the problem is that the car will unlock and lock itself randomly while driving, indicated by the unlock/lock sound that the car makes. These symptoms and problems first appeared in 2019.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for recalls, I was told all the recalls with a door latch were fixed. Now the door latch won’t close and the door stays open. Reached out to Ford and since it is the weekend ford is ignoring the matter until a dealer is open and it can be towed there. This is a safety matter that ford is ignoring.
