subframe rot due to poor quality metal - 2 mechanics, including dealer said unsafe to drive with 140k miles on the automobile. If driven, the mechanics said the car can fail and cause an accident. Should be scrapped or pay $14k to replace Problem is confirmed by dealer and a 2nd mechanic's opinion No one else has inspected the car formally No warnings on the car, just when we went to get new brakes, the mechanic sad the car was unsafe to drive and worthless to do the work. yes, available for inspection upon request Thank you for any help you can provide in making sure we are all safe with these cars on the road.

The contact owns a 2013 Infiniti JX35. The contact stated that for the past several months, the air bag warning light had been intermittently illuminated, and the fuel gauge had failed to indicate the proper fuel levels in the fuel tank. Additionally, it was difficult to open the hood. The contact researched online and related the failures to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V244000 (Air Bags),12V398000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and 15V033000 (Structure). The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the contact was informed that there were no open recalls associated with the VIN for the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,516.

The front and rear subframes of my 2013 Infiniti JX35 has experienced severe corrosion, perforation, and structural weakening, resulting in an unsafe driving condition. The corrosion is extensive enough to compromise suspension geometry, stability, and overall vehicle control. A structurally compromised subframe poses a serious risk of loss of control, increased stopping distance, and potential crash. A certified mechanic confirmed the vehicle is unsafe to drive due to imminent risk of subframe failure. This defect is premature, systemic, and well‑documented across the Infiniti JX35/QX60 and Nissan Pathfinder platforms.

While driving the car I began to loose steering control . The car would not go in the direction I wanted to go. It was a harrowing experience but I managed to get to my destination. There My father noticed that the right front tire was rubbing the front of the wheel well. After further inspection I could see where the right lower control arm had broken free of the front subframe. I took photos of the damage from different angles .From these I could see that the top of the subframe had severe corrosion while the bottom was intact. I am thankful that I lived through this without suffering injury or death. I reached out to Infinity consumer affairs about this issue and all they could say is that the warranty was up without any concern of this being a major issue with this JX35 Infinity. I feel that a subframe should not break after only 10 Years. This is not an inexpensive car. ( photos attached)

I AM WRITING YOU NOW IT IS BECAUSE AT THIS POINT DRIVING MY 2013 INFINITY JX35 FOR THE SECOND TIME HAD PUT MY LIFE ON THE LINE. I WAS DRIVING ON 75 NORTH ON WESDNESDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2018 AROUND 4:30PM AND SUDDENLY, THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OF MY CAR JUST CAME OFF CAUSING DAMAGE TO OTHER DRIVERS CAR. I ALWAYS SERVICE MY CAR AT INFINITY, DO ALL THE RECOMMENDED SERVICES ON THE CAR AND STILL CANNOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THAT CAR. I HAD A BRAKE SERVICE DONE ON MY CAR ON MY LAST OIL CHANGE WHICH HOWEVER IS NOW SHOWING THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT SCREWED PROPERLY ALL THE WAY. I AM SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED AND EVEN SCARE OF PUTTING MY FAMILY BACK IN THAT CAR. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, INFINITY DECLINED ALL RESPONSIBILITY STATED THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THE CAR HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS NOT TRUE BECAUSE IT HIT THE SIDEWALK WHEN THE WHEEL STARTED SHAKING AND BOUNCED THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME RIGHT AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, THE WHEEL STARTED SHAKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND BOUNCED THE CAR TO THE NEAREST SIDE WALK. THIS TIME, THE TIRE JUST RAN OFF OF THE CAR IN A MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY.

I HAVE THREE ISSUES THAT I HAVE HAD WITHIN 3 DAYS OF BUYING THIS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED JX35. (1) THE VEHICLE INFORMATION DISPLAY (I.E., DASHBOARD PANEL) STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR CITY ROUTE LEAVING ME WITHOUT TURN SIGNAL CAPABILITIES, SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE AND ANY VEHICLE INFORMATION SUCH AS TIRE PRESSURE, MAINTENANCE, ETC. THE DISPLAY CAME BACK ON LATER AND SO DID THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT. THE LOCAL INFINITI DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY BY REPLACING A "COMBINATION METER." (2) I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A PARTS REPRESENTATIVE AT THE LOCAL INFINITI DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT A PART ASSOCIATED WITH THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) RECALL WOULD BE IN SOON AND I SHOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE OCS REPAIRED. I WAS A LITTLE SHOCKED BECAUSE DURING THE SALES PROCESS I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THE SALES REP ABOUT THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL ISSUE HAD BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. BASED ON WHAT THE INFINITI SALES REP TOLD ME, I WAS OPERATING THE CAR UNDER THE FALSE ASSUMPTION THAT MY PASSENGERS WOULD BE SAFE. UNTIL THE OCS IS REPAIRED (AND NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHEN THE OCS PARTS WILL ACTUALLY BE IN), I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PUT PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEATS AS IT IS A POTENTIAL DANGER TO DRIVE WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT WITH A DEACTIVATED PASSENGER AIRBAG. (3) THE ILLUMINATED KICK PLACE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
