2013 INFINITI JX35 Powertrain (other) Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the powertrain system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Powertrain (other) reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

My transmission has been going in and out while on the highway and main roads, jumps when taking off at lights and sounds like it’s not shifting gears causing a safety risk to me and my family and other on the road. I service my transmission fluid as recommend in the handbook and online reporting. infinity has a factory warranty on my vehicle but when I check the recall list it doesn’t show any recalls. I’ve been experiencing this with several jx35 infinity’s due to the cvt transmissions and would really like to have this as a recall because it’s such a common issue with these vehicles. I’ve had the same vehicle prior to this one and paid to have the transmission replaced but it still had the same issues down the road.

While driving on the freeway, the vehicle's driver assistance system suddenly became unavailable. Although the car was still able to move, the transmission would not shift gears. The engine RPMs rose unusually high — when applying pressure to the gas pedal, the RPMs could reach 4,000 to 5,000, but the vehicle accelerated very slowly. I could only maintain a speed of around 50–60 mph. It felt like the transmission was stuck in one gear and the power was not being properly delivered to the wheels. This limited acceleration and loss of responsiveness created a significant safety concern on the freeway. The following day, the check engine light turned on. I took the vehicle to AutoZone for a diagnostic scan, which returned multiple fault codes: P0840 (Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch A Circuit), P0715 (Input/Turbine Speed Sensor A), and P0746 (Pressure Control Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off). After researching the issue, I found that many other Infiniti JX35 owners have reported similar failures involving the CVT transmission. This appears to be a recurring defect that significantly affects drivability and safety. The repair estimate I received is over $4,000, and the vehicle remains in a compromised condition. I am reporting this as a safety concern involving powertrain failure, elevated engine stress, and loss of acceleration control.

I was stopped at a stop sign. When I tried to make my turn/proceed my vehicle putted through the turn. It wouldn’t go over 5 mph it seemed. Luckily I made it out of the way before the oncoming traffic got to me. I pulled over turned the car off and then back on & it worked good enough to get me home. I took it to a mechanic and was informed it was the transmission. I did some research and found this is a common issue with this vehicle. For some reason my vehicle is not listed on the recall list, though it is exhibiting all the same issues others reported. Car is currently sitting until I can afford a new transmission. Sadly I’m still making payments on it.

The transmission failed without warning. The vehicle was perfectly fine. I've found articles recalling the JX 35 for transmission issues. The car is available for inspection. Our safety was put at risk when the vehicle would not accelerate as I was going through a main intersection while vehicles were coming towards me. This issue came out of no where. No check engine light warning came on to warn me of the issue. The check engine light came on the next day when I started the vehicle. The Infiniti dealership confirmed that the transmission failed and needs to be replaced. The issue first appeared on Sunday, July 9, 2023. Again there was no check engine warning light when the issue started. The next day on July 10, 2023 the check engine light appeared and the vehicle was towed to the Infiniti dealership.

Transmission failed at 101000 miles. Going 70 miles a hour on interstate.it slowed down to15 miles a hour, for the love of something no one hit me, but it could of been a deadly combo. I'm also on a fb group and everyone complains of their trans going out. Also before then alternator and radiator fan, maf throttle and purge valve at 90000 miles, which none is covered. I did pay $3000 for a extended warranty up to 116000 miles. But this transmission is a Worldwide Nissan problem and should of been recalled. Also my BCI continues malfunctioning. I've only had the vehicle since February 2022.

I own a 2013 Infiniti JX35 and the transmission failed on 1 July 2022. It was replaced by AAMCO in Irondale Alabama on the 8th of July. The transmission promptly failed on the way back to SC. during the failure, the FCW and BCI malfunction warning lights came on and the vehicle shuddered and loss power while I was on the highway. the check engine light also came on. I am now hearing that this is a common problem with the 2013 JX35 and the 2014-15 QX60 SUVs. Had I known about this issue, I never would have purchased this death trap. I have made a subsequent trip to the AAMCO here in Columbia, SC and they reset or cleared the codes and as soon as I got on the road to head home, they came right back and I loss power and the vehicle began to shudder again.

Been having transmission problems with this car. Saw the CVT transmission has had multiple issues with other Nissan car brands but mine was not included in any recalls. Safety is the car will not shift out of gear (dont know which) on the highway. What we been doing is parking for a hour or so and it back to working normal. Infiniti says they dont see a problem because when we take into the dealership it doesnt do it only on highway for a period of time. Also no transmission lights or anything come on when this happens. Ive read on numerous infiniti forums online people having the same issue expecting more since seems to be happening around the 100k mark and this car is almost 10 years old.
