Since my 68C recall repair my jeep has suffered from sudden electric power loss. This can occur when trying to accelerate from a stop or merging into faster moving traffic. This can also happen while driving and attempting to accelerate resulting in sudden slowdown before gas engine kicks in. This happens daily.

When I drive out of my neighborhood there is a small hill and when I start going up the hill it starts to lose power. Enough power that I have hit the gas pedal or it holds up traffic. I usually put it in cruise and that's when it does this. This was not a problem until we did all the recalls. This continues to be frustrating. And Jeep- Stellantis is no help. This happens everyday. This vehicle does it everyday. It doesn't have the power that it use to. My gas mileage has took a hit also because the engine starts way before it use to. It defeats the whole purpose of purchasing this vehicle.

Since having my 68C recall update done back in February of this year, there has been a significant difference in the powertrain of my 2024 Wrangler 4XE. When driving in electric mode, mainly on a highway, the gas engine will kick on many times for short runs when it never did before. Also, when running on electric, the power or low-end torque has been very much noticeably diminished. This is of concern when merging and pulling out onto a highway. I just want my Jeep 4XE to operate as it did prior to the 68C recall being done. When the Jeep seems to have lots of power while driving in electric and the gas engine did not kick on nearly as much or without asking the vehicle to get up and go quickly.

While driving in electric mode on the highway at 60+ mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power . Chimes sounded, and an alert on the dash read “battery power unavailable” (or similar, I don’t remember the exact words). It appeared to switch into gas mode after about 6 seconds. Dangerous and frightening nonetheless.

2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe purchased new November 2024. Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V741000) software update performed December 2025 at 12,524 miles. None of this occurred in the first 13 months of ownership. It all began immediately after 68C. My 7.6-mile commute (4 miles at 35-45 mph, the rest at 55-60 mph) was previously driven entirely in Electric mode. The vehicle now cannot sustain Electric mode past about 5 miles. It first suffers a sharp power loss where it lags and stops responding to the accelerator, then displays "Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable," skips the normal warm-up transition, and the gas engine surprise-starts and revs harshly to take over. This repeats on any drive sustained above 55 mph. Before 68C I routinely drove 70 mph on the interstate in Electric mode; that is now impossible. The same power loss and abrupt engine start happens on hills the vehicle handled fine before, so hilly routes are off limits. Accelerator sensitivity also changed: moderate acceleration from a stop now starts the gas engine. I am not a heavy-footed driver. In the first year before 68C this happened exactly once, during an emergency full-throttle input to avoid a collision. The most dangerous symptom occurs in both Hybrid and Electric modes: random throttle lag and lurch. Accelerating from a stop to turn left across oncoming traffic, the vehicle does not respond for one to two seconds, then lurches forward. I cannot predict when it will happen. A longer hesitation there would cause a crash. Overall available power is reduced and inconsistent. The vehicle no longer drives like the one I purchased. I have raised these issues with dealer technicians at every subsequent recall or maintenance visit. No diagnostic trouble codes are present and I am told the vehicle is operating as intended. That may be accurate, but the intended operation was changed by 68C, and the result is a safety defect that did not exist in the vehicle as sold.

After Jeep performed the 68C recall on my vehicle, in Electric mode, when driving at 55mph and trying to merge from a service road on to a highway the vehicle power is actually reduced and the vehicle slows down when you press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor trying to get up to highway traffic speed (65-70mph). In this state, the vehicle will actually lose speed dropping from 55mph to 52 mph and will not increase speed past 52mph even with the accelerator pedal pressed all the way to the floor. This is a super dangerous condition which caused me to nearly get rear-ended by the vehicle behind me on the acceleration ramp the first time it happened (which was the first time I drove the 4XE on a highway after the 68C recall was performed). This is a repeatable situation if you drive in electric mode and try to merge on to a highway and need to accelerate from a slower service road speed up to highway speed. The same also happens when driving on a highway in electric mode and need to pass someone, the vehicle actually slows down if you press the accelerator pedal causing a backup of vehicles behind you that are now trying to pass my vehicle. Before Jeep performed the 68C federal recall, you could accelerate from any lower speed up to 75mph in electric mode without any issue. Now, after the 68C recall, you actually lose speed when trying to accelerate if you're driving over 55mph and need to go faster. Jeep needs to remedy this extremely dangerous situation by restoring batter current limits to where they were before the 68C recall which has capped battery current limits at a dangerously low level.

Since the 68C recall work was done, it does not have the horsepower in electric mode that it used to and the gas motor of the hybrid kicks in much sooner than before. I was accelerating onto a freeway onramp when the ice turned on with high rpm, the motor backfired causing some sensor to trigger limp mode (60mph max). I had big rigs behind me going 75 braking hard. I will not let my wife drive it. It's not safe anymore.

Our wrangler was taken in to get the 68C recall done and once we finally got the vehicle back the electric driving mode had significantly less power to the point where the vehicle showed it was limited to 43-45kw of power output to the electric motors which resulted in a top speed of about 67-70mph until it completely failed and said "electric mode temporarily unavailable" on the dash. It then stumbles and restarts after a brief pause thag causes the vehicle to slow down to 55-58mph and then the vehicle can accelerate again only on gasoline power. This problem is easily repeatable and seems to be directly tied to a major software update limiting power output of this vehicle compare to the original power numbers of when we purchased this vehicle.

Since taking my Jeep to the dealership for the 68C recall, 12/22/2025, I have noticed a significant decrease in both power and electric performance. Before the recall, while driving in Hybrid mode with a fully charged battery, I could travel to a town approximately 20 miles away and remain in electric mode for most of the trip there and back. Since the recall was completed, the vehicle no longer stays in electric mode for very long. The internal combustion engine (ICE) now engages much sooner than it used to, and even a slight hill or gentle curve in the road will cause the ICE to turn on to maintain speed. In addition, the battery charge is being depleted much faster than before. I am no longer able to make it home before the battery is depleted, which never happened prior to the recall. I have also experienced a potentially dangerous issue on two occasions since the recall. When pulling out from a stop onto a roadway or through an intersection, the vehicle hesitated and would not move forward immediately when I pressed the accelerator. After a noticeable delay, the vehicle finally accelerated. This hesitation creates a safety concern, especially in traffic situations where other drivers are expecting the vehicle to move promptly. When I purchased the vehicle, it had excellent acceleration and strong performance in electric mode. It had the immediate responsiveness and "pick-up-and-go" power that attracted me to the vehicle in the first place. Since the recall, that performance has noticeably diminished, and the vehicle no longer feels as powerful or responsive as it did before. These issues did not occur prior to the 68C recall, and I am concerned that they may be related to the recall repair or the associated software update.

Having an on-going issue that happens nearly every time I operate the vehicle. Post "68C" recall, the jeep's software has nerfed the power of the vehicle. It doesn't accelerate well, will not maintain speed, loses electric power (and switches to ICE) very frequently even when there is plenty of charge left, and creates a dangerous situation when driving in traffic. Up-hill is a battle and even on flat roads the jeep will often not accelerate even when the pedal is pressed all the way to the ground. I have brought the vehicle in to the dealership multiple times, the last time after it lost all power while on the highway. A "Star" case was opened with Stellantis who responded, in writing, that the vehicle is operating as expected. This is not the same vehicle I purchased in 2023 and I am beyond angry and often times scared that something might happen where I cannot react fast enough or am in a situation where the loss of power will endanger myself or others. To be clear, this has been happening for MONTHS since the 68C recall work was performed.

Total loss of electrical propulsion without warning with 20-50% battery life remaining. The 4xe will drop electrical power without warning and revert to gas engine without proper engine warmup, just to revert back to electrical only power after vehicle picks up speed. This doesn't happen when starting out cold, only after vehicle warms up but without warning the electrical power drops off/stalls out and forces vehicle to revert to gas engine backup to continue to move vehicle down the road. This started after 68C recall was performed on 2/2/26.

On XXX I delivered my vehicle to the Jeep dealership in [XXX] to secure the remedy for Recall Number 68C 2020-2025 JL & 2022-2026 WL PHEV HV BATTERY FIRES. The dealership service manager, at the time of pick up, stated the vehicle passed the test and no further action was required. I do not know what action was taken but something adverse has happened. Since receiving the vehicle back, when driving in electric mode and without warning, it now randomly loses power. Applying more pressure to the accelerator does not restore power immediately. After a couple of seconds delay, the gasoline engine kicks in to provide power, but that two second delay is enough to trigger a collision when pulling out into traffic, or a rear-end event when power is unexpectedly lost on straight-aways. In nearly three years of ownership, this problematic behavior never occurred even once until the 68c recall remedy was applied. Stallantis / FCA may have reduced or eliminated the battery fire risk, but the "remedy" has now created an even more dangerous condition. Please insure that the manufacturer takes immediate and appropriate action to fix this serious issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am reporting a serious safety issue with my 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X. When operating the vehicle in electric (EV) mode, the vehicle intermittently fails to maintain forward propulsion when I press the accelerator. There is a dangerous hesitation or complete loss of throttle response, particularly when attempting to merge into highway traffic or when climbing a hill. The vehicle can suddenly lose power even though the accelerator pedal is being pressed. This loss of forward power creates an extremely dangerous situation because the vehicle cannot maintain the flow of traffic or accelerate when needed. I have experienced multiple near-accidents as a result of this hesitation and lack of throttle response. The problem has made me consider the vehicle unsafe to drive, particularly in situations requiring immediate acceleration. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. This is a very frightfully consistent issue now

After the 68C Jeep recall(NHTSD 25V-741), my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe began losing power and propulsion while in electric and hybrid mode. I have to drive on a hilly highway to and from work and the Jeep just loses acceleration and the gas pedal does nothing to regain momentum. This is becoming quite dangerous for me and fellow drivers on the the road near me. This is a definite safety concern which needs to be addressed. I have taken my Jeep to the dealership three times now explaining the problem, but they are unable to duplicate it or pull codes from the internal computer showing what was happening. I even receive warning lights and a message on the dash stating to take vehicle to the service center for maintenance, but when I restarted the vehicle the message was gone. Again, this is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed and corrected. Thank you.

After the 68C recall (software update) for my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE, the Jeep no longer is able to climb the hill that I live on when using only the electric motor, the Jeep starts to slow down and keeps slowing down until about 5 mph at which the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) kicks in and only at that point will the jeep be able to make it up the hill and accelerate back up to speed. Prior to the recall, I had no issues with the Jeep having enough power to climb the hill with only the electric motor. The ICE never needed to kick in nor did the Jeep slow down. The issue is now when I have other cars behind me they sometimes get angry as the Jeep slows down waiting on the ICE to kick in. It's like the recall programmatically reduced the amount of power the electric motor/electric battery is allowed to produce. Second issue is that the Jeep will kick in the ICE at times when you don't expect it to causing a sudden acceleration and that scares me when I don't expect it to happen, sometimes this even causes the tires to spin/bark. This usually occurs when I try to take off from a dead stop and I am turning at the same time. I had no issues with the behavior of the Jeep prior to the 68C battery recall and this new behavior, in my opinion, is not safe.

1: Ever since one of the recalls was "addressed", the vehicle seems to lack power when taking off, etc. It seems like it lacks propulsion. 2: I was driving on the highway several times, and for no reason, the power reduces greatly and I am unable to go above 60 mph. The warning light (as seen in the attached) comes on and stays on until the vehicle is turned off. This has happened to me several times at different speeds (with and without adaptive cruise control on). I cannot seem to replicate this again, and, when the light comes on, it's been at times that I was unable to take it to the dealer with the light on. It sat at my local dealer for about 3 weeks cumulative as of lately, and they could not get the light to come on. They even got a TA to come out, and they couldn't find the issue or cause the light to go on. Keep in mind...this is a leased vehicle, and miles matter. I took the car back since I cannot continue paying for a rental (even though they eventually may reimburse me). I have had several issues with this vehicle throughout the life of the lease. I cannot wait to turn it in or possibly involve a lawyer for a lemon law issue. I cannot continue paying what I do for my lease and not having a reliable vehicle to drive. I'm paying a premium payment and am not comfortable driving this car anymore. It is a safety hazard with not knowing when this warning light and lack of power will occur. Please make Stellantis/Jeep make this right!! I LOVED my Wrangler, but the risks of driving it are not acceptable.

I want to preface by saying I love my Jeep and I baby it. It only has 13k miles on it (mostly highway) and I have never taken it offroad. However, I paid a ton of money for a vehicle that, not only has lost more than half it's value in 2 years, but is also not reliable or safe. A 70k value vehicle that is only worth less than 30k now. I have several ongoing issues and they have happened multiple times. The 68C and 78C recalls caused SO many issues with performance, safety and reliability of my Jeep. Jeep misrepresented the number of affected vehicles. I purchased my Jeep based on the claimed reliability, good fuel economy (for a Jeep) and the low end torque and peppy ride it used to have. Following the 68C and 78C recalls, it no longer responds the way it should (and used to) when pressing the gas pedal. Power is greatly reduced and it inhibits my ability to safely merge into traffic and accelerate on the highway. My Jeep abruptly died in the middle of a highway in June while I was accelerating to switch lanes. The Jeep came to a halting stop from 65mph-0mph in a matter of 2-3 seconds and a car behind me almost rear ended me. Jeep advises not to park near the house or charge it. I can't park in the garage so my Jeep also takes a weather beating year round. When I press the brake with force, the Jeep skids and skips forward before stopping. I have had MANY close calls where I almost rear ended someone at a stop light because the Jeep lurches forward on its own. When braking, it often makes the tires squeal as it's lurching forward in an attempt to stop itself. I bought this vehicle to drive from PA to FL 2x a year. Something I can safely transport my family. I do not trust it anymore so I had to purchase a second vehicle. The Jeep also squeaks at low speeds and the dealer doesn't know what it is. It already leaks water when it rains. 21D recall is upcoming - another fire risk. Vehicle is scheduled to go to dealer on 9/21. Please help - I want what I paid for!

This is an ongoing issue with the hybrid battery system. Jeep had a 68C recall that I had done to my Jeep Wrangler. After completing the recall my performance was reduced when in electric mode. I have had multiple times where I was trying to speed up and get into traffic and I was not able to get above 25% power. To say the least those times were dangerous situations. I would have to put my petal all the way to the floor to force the gas motor to take over. At this point the gas motor cold starts and revving up to 6000 rpm. This is terrible on a motor. It only takes once to either get into a wreck (from loss of power) or possibly blow up a motor (from cold starting and over revving). I have taken the Jeep back to the dealership numerous times for the issue and they say it is fine and within Jeep standard. I know my Jeep is not operating like it was before the 68C recall and something needs to be done to get Jeep to fix the issue.

The vehicle is experiencing several issues: When accelerating on the highway, propulsion suddenly cuts out. Another issue is that, at times, the engine starts at high RPMs—even when the hybrid battery is charged—without any warm-up period; the engine RPMs then begin to fluctuate on their own. This latter behavior could lead to engine wear or unexpected failure, as the engine fires up at high speeds and begins charging without allowing the oil to properly lubricate the engine components. These issues almost always occur between 40 and 45 mph while the hybrid battery is charged, and the problem began following the "Recall 68C" service campaign.

After having the 68c recall performed by our dealer we have a loss of power, especially when suddenly needed, this results in moments of sudden fear as the car does not move as expected since this is intermittent. The vehicle will also panick start the internal combustion engine from cold to high rpm when the battery is still nearly full and high power levels are not being requested by the driver. While we very much like this vehicle otherwise, especially how it was when we test drove then purchased it the performance is now something we would not intentionally own. This is no longer the same vehicle we agreed to pay for.

After the 68C recall work, my Jeep Wrangler 4xe no longer feels safe to drive. The vehicle no longer performs the way it did when I purchased it and now frequently behaves erratically, putting my wife and me in situations that are unsafe on public roads. Some of this behavior also appears potentially harmful to the vehicle’s components. Personal safety concerns: On multiple occasions, the vehicle has limited available power to approximately 10–15%, leaving me unable to accelerate normally. This has happened more times than I can count. The most concerning instances have occurred while making left turns across traffic, crossing intersections, and accelerating onto higher-speed roads such as highways. At other times, I have been honked at, yelled at, or flashed by drivers because the vehicle would not accelerate or maintain speed as expected. Equipment safety concerns: The only way I have found to restore power is to press the accelerator to the floor. Doing so causes the internal combustion engine (ICE) to start immediately, bypassing its normal warm-up period and placing the engine under significant load while still cold. This has happened repeatedly at speeds from 0–45 mph, even when the battery was above 50%. General performance issues: While driving in electric mode, the vehicle now automatically switches to hybrid mode in situations where it never did before the recall work. For example, yesterday I was driving about 45 mph on a flat road with no significant wind or abrupt accelerator input when the ICE unexpectedly started. The battery was still above 50%. After the engine warmed up, it shut back down and did not restart. This behavior did not occur before the 68C recall work. The vehicle’s operation is now unpredictable, particularly when accelerating, and I no longer feel I can rely on it to respond safely when needed.

The Vehicle has a lack of power in electric mode and stalls when the engine turns on to run on gas power. This is causing merging issues or ramping up to speed to enter the highway. When trying to quickly turn or avoid being hit by an oncoming traffic when you floor the accelerator, it lags and doesn’t engage power to quickly move out of the way. You have to be in gas mode for a quick response. This happens all the time.
