Loss of Motive Power
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has identified 68 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports for model years (MY) 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles alleging a loss of motive power. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will also assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of the recall. When in electric mode - and this happens at all different battery percentages - it will drive normally for a bit and I've watched the screen and seen the KW go up and down normally for electric and it seems perhaps once the battery has heated up (my assumption) it throttles electric power at 46 or 48KW, and then does not accelerate anymore and instead will lose power/speed (which is dangerous in traffic) and eventually switch over to Hybrid and a message about Electric mode temporarily unavailable. While waiting for hybrid to kick on my speed decreases by about 15mph. This has also happened when trying to take off from a complete stop. So you can only accelerate and very slowly to perhaps 20-25mph then no more speed , nothing then hybrid clicks on and electric mode temporarily unavailable. It is basically making electric mode useless and dangerous. It occurs almost every time I drive it now, originally it was sporadic and has started to be more.

I purchased my vehicle in March 2026 from the.dealership with a known active recall from November 2025 with fire risk, now there is an additional fire hazard recall and my vehicle is currently undriveable due to these recalls.

While driving my vehicle, I have noticed a significant decrease in power and a corresponding slowdown, particularly in traffic conditions. This has resulted in a near-miss collision with another vehicle in the rear. Furthermore, attempting to accelerate the vehicle has proven futile. ps. The dealer where I brought the vehicle is kinda giving me a hard time & I fear for my family safety. honestly I dont feel like the dealer was being completly honest.

Unresolved Death Wobble after four attempts, the vehicle has experienced the recurring death wobble, steering control issue that has been presented to the dealership 4 times for repair, despite the repair attempts the problem remains. Because the issue involves steering stability and control i no longer feel safe operating the vehicle. I am requesting this be documented as a safety issue

Engine temperature went up while driving. The warning light came on and I immediately pulled to the side of the road. After 6 minutes on the side of the road the engine started to smoke and then caught fire.

The contact owned a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, black smoke was coming from the exhaust, and the husband smelled an abnormal burning odor entering the cabin of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and a fire started coming from under the hood. The contact stated that while her husband was attempting to unlatch the hood, after unlatching the front driver’s and passenger’s side hood latches and attempting to unlatch the 3rd hood latch, the fire rose and burned both hands. The local Fire Department arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. The source of the fire was not yet determined. A Police report was not filed. No medical attention was sought; however, the contact's husband had fallen attempting to create distance between the fire and sustained a pulled shoulder, bruises on the right elbow, and right knee, while being pre-diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. The vehicle was towed by a local independent mechanic. The contact and her husband were on vacation when the vehicle caught on fire and the luggage with personal items were burned in the fire. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering); however, parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond approximately 60 mph. This created a safety risk because I could not maintain normal highway traffic speed. I brought the vehicle to an authorized dealership, where a recall repair was performed. However, the same loss-of-power issue occurred again. After further inspection, the dealership informed me that the vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 78C and requires a complete engine replacement. I am not a technician and cannot determine the exact cause of the failure; I have relied on the dealership and Stellantis for diagnosis and repair. The dealership confirmed that the replacement engine is on backorder and the repair cannot be completed. My vehicle has been at the dealership since June 2, 2026, and has been unavailable for nearly two months. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Neither the dealership nor Stellantis has provided an estimated date for parts availability or repair completion. The timeline is UNKNOWN. The recall and engine replacement requirement were confirmed by the authorized dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Manufacturer inspection is UNKNOWN. I do not recall any warning lamps or messages before the power loss occurred. I continue to make monthly lease payments for a vehicle I cannot use. No loaner vehicle was provided. Stellantis offers rental reimbursement of up to $50 per day, but this does not cover actual rental costs. Even the least expensive rentals in my area exceed $50 per day, requiring me to pay additional expenses out of pocket. This is the second time a manufacturer recall has caused an extended loss of vehicle use. A previous recall kept my vehicle unavailable for more than one month. My lease expires in February 2027, but I continue paying while the vehicle remains unusable. I requested a buyback due to the lack of a repair timeline, but Stellantis denied my request

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Switchbank 4 gang The customer will notice either one or two of the following conditions: 1. Fuel Door is Not opening when Fuel door Switch is pushed. Technician Observe the DTC P04CB-FUEL FILL DOOR OPEN REQUEST SENSOR-SWITCH CIRCUIT HIGH. 2. Drives Modes do not work when Switch is pressed (Hybrid, Electric, E-save). Technician Observe DTC U113B-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH SWITCH BANK MODULE. Procedure: If during vehicle Scan diagnostics besides DTC's P04CA, P04CB or U113B. there are another DTCs Repair it First accordingly. DTC's may be related to main ECU's like: HCP, BCM, PCM, etc. If DTC P04CB and/or U113B are still present, then follow the following action before replacing the Switch: 1. Read vehicle DTCs while the IGN ON. 2. Verify ESBM feed fuse state. Replace the fuse if needed. 3. Wiggle the ESBM harness takeout (LIN and ESBM feed takeout) and monitor the state of DTC P04CB and/or U113B. o If this step affects DTC P04CB and/or U113B. behavior, the issue is likely related to a failure in the harness. 4. Disconnect the harness from the ESBM and confirm there not any damage, like bend PINs, corrosion, etc. 5. Confirm Harness continuity. 6. Verify power to ESBM by back probing the ESBM connector o If voltage is lower than 11.8V, follow normal procedures for low batteries. - If there no damage in the harness nor the connector and pins of the ESBM, reconnect it ensuring the harness connector is being fully engaged into the ESBM connector. 7. Confirm Continuity of the harness from the ESBM connector to the BCM connectors. 8. Reconnect the ESBM and then Verify LIN bus activity with Mopar scope. o Config scope to LIN monitor if feasible. o Replace the ESBM only based confirmation from the LIN diagnostic. 9. With the scan tool, read DTCs. If still DTC are set, replace ESBM (Fuel door and drive modes Switch module) in accordance with the Service Information. Flag the part to be returned to supplier for further part analysis.
