2024 Jeep Wrangler Steering Problems

I took my car to the dealership that sold it to me in XXX for oil change and I told them I was noticing it was swerving left and right and they said that's how jeeps drive, then I took it for recall in [XXX] Jeep dealer and they checked the recall and I told them about the swerving and again they told me it's they way jeeps drive. I then took it again becasue by XXX my front passenger was completely bald and all they did was quote me tires. I took it finally to Taylor on XXX and came back the steering damper was worn out. They couldn't tell me why my tires were messed up. They told me they don't know what's wrong with tires, all I could do is get new tires and alignment to see if that helped. 2024 Jeep 4XE Wrangler Rubicon, 3 recalls, 1st EV battery, potential fire hazard, 2nd Sand in the engine, potential fire hazard, 3rd wiring harness for steering unit, potential fire hazard, all of them can cause a fire with it being parked and not even plugged in for charging. FCA sent out the recall notices, and later said they had remedies, the problem is the remedies aren't remedies at all. I was at my dealership 2 days ago talking to my service writer, and he told me that another customer with the same vehicle passed the so called remedy for sand in the engine, a few days later his engine light came on, and now the dealership is replacing his engine, with that being said doesn't that mean that even with a passed so called remedy, it could still be a fire hazard. I have had all the recalls done at my dealership, but I don't feel that they are being honest about any of these remedies actually working, and that everytime I get in the vehicle or park it I'm afraid that it could still catch fire. I have a vehicle that has been taken off the market by the manufacturer, and has told the dealerships not to sell them, I have tried to get some reimbursement, but have had no luck, am hiring an attorney to try to get something done.

My Jeep has had a recall since December 2025. I initially went to Burgaw, NC Dealership where I Leased my Jeep, with no luck. I made appointment They did not have the part. I was told they would call when it is available. I checked in every month , no part. I called the recall line in the summer 2026 and they made me an appointment at National Dodge in Jacksonville, NCthe first week of August. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment I was told they could not accommodate my appointment because it takes 5 hours. Holdridge Greene made another appointment for me for the following week on [XXX]. He also said he would be able to put me in a car so I wouldn't miss another entire day of work. I showed up and was told they could not help me that day because there were no cars, but they would call and reschedule as soon as possible. It is now [XXX] and no contact has been made. I would love to have my Jeep fixed as it has been affected by these recalls and issues have occurred. Any help is greatly appreciated! I left my home for work on XXX. I noticed a lack of propulsion upon stepping on the gas & air conditioning blowing warm air. At a stoplight ([XXX] and [XXX] in [XXX]), I attempted to restart the vehicle in hopes that a reset may fix any issues. What I found was that my vehicle would not restart and I could not remove it from park in a busy intersection. After 30 minutes of trying, I was able to get it to turn on and move to the Burger King parking lot. A tow truck arrived and took me to the [XXX] Valley Chysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealer. They told me it would take until Tuesday XXX to look at it. They could not offer me a loaner nor a rental vehicle. They called on XXX and said it was a battery defect and may take weeks to repair. To date, my vehicle with 27,000 miles have been in for four separate recalls, citing lack of propulsion, risk of battery fire. Zero accidents. I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle after recalls: "the 2.0 engine may be contaminated with sand from the casting process ... leading to catastrophic engine failure." "firmware software...may cause loss of drive power which can cause a vehicle crash." "The high voltage battery may become damaged during normal vehicle operation ... advising owners to park away from structures or other vehicles" "Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump may have electrical issue ... may lead to a fire." My year 2024 jeep had severe "death wobble" when driving over 60mph just over a minor bump, and it was over the horizontal metal rails on a long bridge. Dealership just replaced the steering damper, the car still loses control over small bumps when driving over 60mph. It's really scary when the bump happens at a curve on freeway. The dealership refuses to look over any other possible causes but to charge me $200 for tire balancing. My car has never taken the off road and never hit anything before. My previous 2009 jeep NEVER had death wobble issues with normal driving.

Unresolved Death Wobble after four attempts, the vehicle has experienced the recurring death wobble, steering control issue that has been presented to the dealership 4 times for repair, despite the repair attempts the problem remains. The contact owned a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, black smoke was coming from the exhaust, and the husband smelled an abnormal burning odor entering the cabin of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and a fire started coming from under the hood. The contact stated that while her husband was attempting to unlatch the hood, after unlatching the front driver’s and passenger’s side hood latches and attempting to unlatch the 3rd hood latch, the fire rose and burned both hands. The local Fire Department arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. The source of the fire was not yet determined. A Police report was not filed. No medical attention was sought; however, the contact's husband had fallen attempting to create distance between the fire and sustained a pulled shoulder, bruises on the right elbow, and right knee, while being pre-diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. The vehicle was towed by a local independent mechanic. The contact and her husband were on vacation when the vehicle caught on fire and the luggage with personal items were burned in the fire. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering); however, parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Wrangler due to serious and unresolved safety defects that render the vehicle unsafe for operation and present an immediate risk to public safety. One of the active safety recalls involves a condition in which the vehicle may suddenly lose power while driving. I have personally experienced this dangerous failure on three separate occasions while operating the vehicle. Each incident required me to return the Jeep to the dealership for repair. Despite three separate service visits and extended periods during which the dealership retained the vehicle, the recall has not been resolved and the underlying safety defect continues to persist. The risk of sudden power loss while driving creates an imminent and severe hazard, significantly increasing the likelihood of a crash that could result in serious injury or death to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. Despite repeated repair attempts, no permanent remedy has been provided. I have further been informed that no effective or final repair is currently available for this recall, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe and unresolved condition. Given the repeated failures and the ongoing inability to correct this defect, I consider this vehicle unsafe for operation on public roads. Immediate regulatory intervention is necessary to prevent potential harm. I respectfully urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to initiate a prompt investigation into this matter and to take all appropriate enforcement actions to ensure that a timely, effective, and permanent remedy is provided to all affected vehicle owners without further delay. Thank you for your urgent attention to this critical safety issue.

With the current recall on a specific part for the Jeep Wrangler, there is currently no resolution to the problem. I worry that my vehicle with catch on fire or catch nearby vehicles on fire. I live in Georgia and the temperature has been very high this summer. I cannot ensure my vehicle is parked away from others since I live in a high populated city. I would prefer some remedy for this situation.

Recall Number: 26V363000 Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara I am filing a Recall Remedy Failure complaint. This recall was issued in June 2026 for a fire risk when the vehicle is parked. The recall status continues to show "Recall incomplete, remedy not yet available." I have contacted Jeep/Stellantis multiple times and have been told there is no remedy, no parts, and no timeline for repair. They have been unhelpful and unable to provide any safe interim solution. This defect poses a fire risk, and I have been unable to safely use or park the vehicle. It has been well beyond the reasonable time required under federal law for the manufacturer to provide a remedy. I am requesting NHTSA intervention and classification of this case as a recall remedy failure. I am seeking a manufacturer buyback as required under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

1. The vehicle has experienced multiple safety-related defects and is available for inspection upon request: The Instrument Cluster Panel was subject to Safety Recall and required service. The radio system suffered an internal malfunction. The Electric Hydraulic Power Steering system was subject to a safety recall issued on June 11, 2026 and no remedy is currently available from the manufacturer. 2. The instrument cluster defect could prevent the driver from viewing critical safety information, like speed, odometer, and warning indicators. The Electric Hydraulic Power Steering defect poses an even greater risk, as a loss or reduction of steering assist could impair vehicle control and increase the likelihood of a crash. Additionally, the recalled steering system may overheat and cause a fire, whether the vehicle is being driven or the engine is off, creating an immediate life-threatening hazard to occupants, nearby persons, vehicles, and property. This is especially concerning as a Texas resident driving in the summer months with extreme temperatures. 3. The instrument cluster issue was addressed through recall service performed by an authorized Jeep dealership. The radio/internal failure was reported to the dealership, which acknowledged the malfunction. The power steering issue has also been recognized by the manufacturer through the issuance of a safety recall on 6/11/2026. 4. The vehicle has been inspected and serviced by authorized Jeep dealerships in connection with the instrument cluster recall and the reported radio malfunction. Additionally, the vehicle underwent multiple routine service inspections before the Power Steering recall was issued, and no steering-system defects or safety concerns were identified or disclosed. 5. No warnings or messages appeared before the failures. Radio failure caused infotainment screen to go blank while instrument cluster and power steering issues were identified by manufacturer recalls instead of vehicle warnings.

My safety, as well as the safety of my children and family, is under constant, severe threat. We are being forced to make financial payments on a vehicle that the manufacturer admits is a dual fire hazard and unsafe to park inside near our home, with no engineering fix currently developed to resolve the engine defect. Furthermore, the manufacturer has failed to provide a comparable, safe, or adequate utility rental vehicle to mitigate our loss of use while we wait indefinitely for these remedies. There were no warning lights or prior symptoms before the recall. This vehicle is actively subject to three major, concurrent manufacturer safety recalls carrying critical safety risks: NHTSA Campaign 25V-741 (Stellantis 68C) for high-voltage hybrid battery fire risk; NHTSA Campaign 25V-766 (Stellantis 78C) for engine casting sand contamination causing catastrophic engine failure; and the recently issued June 04, 2026 recall, NHTSA Campaign 26V-363 (FCA 21D), for an Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) electrical short circuit and fire risk. The combined safety risk of these defects is severe, including spontaneous vehicle fire while driving or parked, and sudden, catastrophic engine seizure leading to an unrecoverable loss of propulsion at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request and has been evaluated by an authorized manufacturer dealership. The dealer confirmed that the safety recalls apply to this specific vehicle. Out of an abundance of caution, the manufacturer has issued strict, overlapping instructions for both the battery and the EHPSP defects, advising owners to park the vehicle outside and away from structures or other vehicles until a remedy is obtained. Furthermore, for the engine sand contamination defect, the manufacturer has explicitly stated that a definitive repair remedy is not yet available, leaving the vehicle with a permanent risk of sudden mechanical failure or an engine-compartment thermal event.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle experiences a severe front-end steering and suspension oscillation commonly referred to as “death wobble.” After driving over uneven pavement, bridge joints, potholes, or rough highway surfaces at highway speeds, the steering wheel begins violently shaking side-to-side and the front suspension appears to oscillate uncontrollably. The vehicle becomes difficult to steer and maintain lane control until speed is significantly reduced. The issue first occurred at approximately 10,000 miles and has recently returned. Although the current episodes are somewhat less severe than the initial event, the vehicle still becomes unstable above approximately 65 mph and cannot be safely driven at normal highway speeds. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This defect creates a serious safety hazard because the steering instability occurs suddenly at highway speeds and makes the vehicle feel temporarily out of control. During the initial in incident, the steering wheel shook violently after hitting an uneven section of highway pavement, and I believed I could lose control of the vehicle or collide with surrounding traffic. The only way to stop the oscillation is to rapidly reduce speed to approximately 50 mph or lower, which itself creates additional danger from surrounding vehicles traveling at highway speed. The recurrence of the issue has made me afraid to drive the vehicle on highways or at normal traffic speeds due to concern over loss of steering control and potential crash risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was serviced. The dealer performed the fix of the wheel damperer after the original occurrence. While those actions temporarily reduced the severity of the symptoms, they did not permanent. This is a known issue for Jeep's since 2018, I have had 3 and all 3 have had it

Started car and check engine light was on. Started to drive it and the battery and other lights came on. Engine sounded funny and electric motor was not available. As I was trying I needed to pull off because it was not moving smoothly and was jerky. I pulled over into a parking lot and put in park and the lights indicated it was in charging mode. After repeated attempts to turn the vehicle completely off I was able to. When I was able to finally turn it back on it the engine was very loud. While driving the car would accelerate when I did not have my foot on the brake and was getting warm inside the cabin. At random times the battery light and a red turtle would appear saying the speed was being limited. This happened repeatedly. The following day on the way to try to bring it to the dealership to fix it the speed was increasing while on flat ground unless I had foot on break and then the red turtle would come back on. I determined it was unsafe to drive and requested a tow to the dealership.

In October, my son was driving our Jeep Wrangler 4xe when the vehicle suddenly lost power steering, acceleration, and braking while multiple warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. The vehicle became very difficult to control and created a serious safety concern. We have a video showing all of the warning lights flashing during this incident (it is not allowing me to upload a video below as the file is too large) The vehicle also currently has recalls and service campaigns, including Recall 78C related to a potential engine defect and HBMHCP related to the hybrid battery system. These issues make us feel the vehicle is unsafe and not reliable to drive. The recalls and issues have also affected our ability to use the vehicle as intended and have reduced the value of the vehicle. We are concerned that this vehicle may have a safety defect related to the engine or hybrid/electrical system that could cause loss of power, steering, braking, or vehicle control. We have been told there is currently no fix for these issues and that we should continue driving the vehicle, to park outside and not charge it. This makes us feel the vehicle may be unsafe and unreliable to drive. We are making monthly payments for a vehicle that does not behave as intended.

Within 40 miles of purchasing and departing the dealership, this brand-new 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door Sport S experienced two severe and uncontrollable steering oscillation events (commonly known as "Death Wobble"). The first incident occurred on I-265 East (from I-65) in Indiana after going over a standard bridge expansion joint/hump at approximately 60 MPH. The steering wheel and front axle shook with such violence that vehicle control was nearly lost, necessitating emergency braking and pulling onto the shoulder. The event repeated under identical conditions within two miles. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership where tire balance, pressure, and alignment all appeared normal. Dealership took the vehicle for a test ride and was able to replicate the issue. Odometer leaving dealership: 133 miles.

Driving down the road with vehicles on opposite side and vehicle shut off with no warnings and had no steering. Had to turn vehicle on and off 3-4 times to get back to home. Had to get vehicle towed to dealership and now has 3 recalls on it and two have no remedy. It has been since October of 2025 since this has been going on with no fix, no solution, no reimbursement for payments still being made on a vehicle that is not drivable.

Loss of motor power recall has been present since October 17, 2025 - #25V710. This is an issue that started with our specific Jeep prior to this recall. It is January now and no remedy has been found. The manufacturer will not provide a loaner or rental for us even though the car has shut off on us personally on multiple occasions. They asked us to take it into the dealer to perform a diagnostic, they are unable to reproduce the shut-off issue we've experienced and have told us there is nothing they can do at this time. I looked up at your website and see there is an "interim corrective action" that has been implemented to avoid loss of motive power using an update to the backend policy while a final remedy is still under development. When I asked the dealer to either confirm if they at least performed the interim corrective action or if they can guarantee we will not experience loss of power anymore. I was told they could not answer the question and that they did not have anything they could perform on the vehicle at this time and told us we can pick it up. Again, this issue has happened to us personally on multiple occasions and have been fortunate that it's only happened on residential streets thus far. We do not feel safe to drive the car around on a daily basis and just hope the car doesn't shut off again in a more dangerous situation until a remedy is found. We originally brought this car into the dealer for a similar issue on October 14th - the dealer updated some software and gave us the car back on October 16th. By October 18th, we had a check engine light come up again and on October 19th, the car would not start on occasions again. Again they took it and said they did a software update to it. The shut off issue persisted again in December when we stopped driving the car and were able to get a rental from them for the 25V-741 issue but they are saying because they themselves cannot replicate our 25V710, they can't help us again and no fixes are available.

This compliant is based on the manufactures unwillingness to provide a rental car despite the fact the car is in the shop now for over a week. They have stated in writing that they will not provide a rental car or alternative transportation until the repair for NHTSA recall number 25V-766 or 78C is determined. This leads me without a usable vehicle for an unknown period of time and their refusal to provide a rental in the main time while the vehicle is under factory warranty is a dereliction of their responsibility to provide a working product to the customer. On Monday, December 15th at approximately 4:30pm, after having turned East onto highway 556, aka Roy Avenue, accelerating to the speed limit of 45 mph, I crossed over a "seam" connecting the roadway to the bridge, which immediately set off the infamous "death wobble" on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU. I was unable to control the vehicle, and I had to slow down while wrestling with the steering so that I could pull off to the right hand side of the road. Had I not been able to react in such a quick manner, I could have easily collided with oncoming traffic, killed or injured others, or been killed myself. I took the vehicle to the dealer two days later, who said that the issue was a "steering stabilizer", which appears to be the default response from Stellantis as all steering stabilizers are on back-order. There were no warning lights, no indicators that this event was imminent and the dealership indicated that all other parts were in normal working order.
