Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.
No recalls in our database for this model year
That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

Peeling paint throughout car.
Paint is chipping and flying off while driving. Safety hazard for other drivers as well as myself. Bare metal is showing on every body panel and only getting worse. The paint recall needs to be extended to earlier year models as it is affecting these vehicles as well. I am an estimator from a repair facility. Multiple vehicles with the tri coat white are experiencing these issues.
2007 LEXUS GX470 PEELING BLIZZARD PEARL (070) PAINT COLOR ACROSS ENTIRE VEHICLE (ROOF, SIDES, HOOD, DOORS, ETC..). LEXUS HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT IN 2008-2009 GX470S, BUT OUR 2007 IS NOT COVERED FOR REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT SUFFERS THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD ESTIMATES FROM LEXUS BODY SHOP (LOCAL HOUSTON DEALERSHIP) FOR ~$10,000+ TO REPAIR.
DASHBOARD HAS BECOME GREASY AND STARTED MELTING IN SOME AREAS. DASHBOARD ALSO HAS STARTED CRACKING TOWARDS AIRBAG.
MY FRONT DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AND PAINT IS AGGRESSIVELY PEELING ON ALL 4 DOORS, HOOD, & ROOF. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. GO VISIT TOYOTA/LEXUS/SCION PAINT PEELS, BUT THEY HAVE A FIX IN THE WORKS (FOR SOME) ON FACEBOOK AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS DISCOLORED AND CAN GET STICKY WHEN IT'S HOT. THEY HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BACK IN THE YEAR 2014 OR 2015. APPARENTLY YEAR 2016 WAS THE LAST DATE TO BRING THE CAR IN BUT BECAUSE OF MY LOW MILES AND THE FACT I LEAVE THE CAR IN THE GARAGE THE DISCOLORATION AND STICKINESS DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL AFTER 2016. I BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL HAD ENDED IN 2016 AND COULD NOT HELP ME. LEXUS NEEDS TO RECALL THIS AGAIN FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AFTER 2016.
DASHBOARD FOR MY CAR STARTED CRACKING AND BECOMING STICKY. SYMPTOMS ARE WORSE WHEN CAR IS PARKED OUTSIDE. THE MATERIAL USED IS NOT HEAT RESISTANT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR DASHBOARD CRACKS, BUT IT WAS TIME BOUND. IF CONSUMER IS ALWAYS PARKING CAR INDOORS, SYMPTOMS WILL TAKE TIME TO APPEAR. AS THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS SAFETY OF AIRBAG AND OTHER CRITICAL COMPONENTS AROUND DASHBOARD, IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED IRRESPECTIVE OF WHEN THE SYMPTOM START HAPPENING. MANY OTHER CONSUMERS ARE ALSO SEEING SIMILAR ISSUES. LEXUS FORUMS ARE FLOODED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT DASHBOARD. SOMEONE FROM NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS IN DETAIL.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED

To prevent brake rotor rust from forming during transportation and storage, wheel film will be used instead of a cardboard type of anti-rust cover. The purpose of the wheel film is to shield the disc brake rotor from weather elements and initial rust before the vehicle is delivered to the customer. Consequently, the film should remain on the wheel for as long as possible.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
