ALL FOUR TIRES DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS 1.On February 10, 2020 we purchased four Goodyear Assurance Weatherready tires from Riverside Garage (19 East Ave., Riverside, 60546 708-447-7221 (see attached receipt) 2.On August 5, 2022 the rear/driver’s side tire went flat in Springfield, Illinois during a family visit. We were unable to reinflate the tire. Discount Tire inspected it and found a 12 inch or greater slit and a 1-1/2 inch slit on the inside wall of the tire (see attached photos). The slits revealed white mesh inner membrane. It was unsafe to use, so Discount Tire replaced it. 3.On August 7, 2022, while on route back to Riverside, Illinois from Springfield, Illinois on Interstate 55 we observed a “low tire” light another Assurance tires at rear/passenger side tire. 4.On August 8, 2022 Riverside Garage inspected the rear/passenger tire to find a 1-1/2 inch slit on the inside wall of the tire, which was similarly situated as the other tire. It also revealed an interior mesh membrane similar to the other flat tire. Further inspection of the remaining two tires showed faint “lines” similarly positioned across the inside walls of the remaining front two tires. The tires are preserved at the garage for inspection. 5.On August 10, 2022, the three remaining Goodyear Assurance Weatherready tires were replaced with Goodyear Eagle tires. It is very likely that all of these tires were dangerously defective on manufacture and that others are probably in us. This incident occurred about 2 years post purchase, meaning that other who bought similar tires will begin to experience blowouts and accident in the same time span. Please take action to protect others from blowouts on these defective tires.

AT APPROXIMATELY 2:00 PM ON JAN. 5, 2020, I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 LEXUS LS 430 IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA IN BETHESDA, MD. I DECIDED TO TURN AROUND. I TURNED RIGHT INTO A DRIVEWAY (AT A LOW SPEED) WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED. SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR ACCELERATED WILDLY, MAKING A GREAT DEAL OF ENGINE NOISE, AS THE THROTTLE APPEARED TO BE WIDE OPEN. THANKFULLY I HIT A NEAR-BY TREE AND TWO FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A HOMEOWNER CALLED THE POLICE, AND AN AMBULANCE TOOK ME TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT A NEARBY HOSPITAL. IF THIS SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAD OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY, I AM CERTAIN THAT LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST.

I OWN A 2006 LEXUS LS430, WHICH I'VE HAD SINCE NEW. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 70K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED SOLELY AT LEXUS DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN RALEIGH NC. TODAY WHILE REVERSING DOWN A STEEP DRIVE MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND CUT OFF. I LOST ALL HYDRAULIC BRAKE ASSISTANCE AND STEERING ASSIST. I WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 8 MPH AT TIME OF FAILURE. NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS APPEARED ON THE DASH BEFORE OR AFTER THIS. MY VEHICLE HAD AT LEAST 10 GALLONS OF FUEL IN THE TANK AS IT INDICATES ABOUT ⅝ FULL. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER STOPPING AND THE CAR RAN FINE ON MY WAY HOME. I AM SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION BUT THIS WAS SCARY AND I'M JUST CONCERNED IF THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF IT COULD BE FATAL LIKE THE GM IGNITION RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH KEYLESS IGNITION SO NO KEYS WERE IN THE STARTER THAT COULD HAVE SWITCHED IGNITION OFF.

MY 2006 LEXUS LS 460 HAS A DASHBOARD THAT IS STICKY AND HARD TO SEE OUT OF AT TIMES WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED MY INTERIOR DOOR PANELS ARE STARTING TO HAZE WITH A WHITE FILM ON THEM. I HAVE TAKEN EXTREME CARE WITH THIS VEHICLE AS IT RECEIVES ALL THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE AND EVERY 3 WEEKS A FULL DETAIL INSIDE AND OUT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CHEMICALS BEING UTILIZED BY THE DETAILERS, AND I ASKED THEY STOP USING CHEMICALS AND ONLY USE SOAP AND WATER. I LATER FOUND AFTER SPEAKING WITH THEM THAT IT IS COMMON IN A LOT OF LEXUS SEDANS. I LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN MANY LEXUS' FROM 2006 TO 2008. SO I AM INQUIRING HERE TO SEE IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. *TR

IN THE LAST 30 DAYS THE CHROME ON THE INSIDE OF 2 WHEELS WHERE THE TIRES BEAD SEALS HAS SHOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND THE TIRES WILL NOT HOLD AIR. I AM AFRAID OF THE TIRES BEAD THAT SEALS AGAINST THIS PART OF THE RIM LOSING AIR AT A HIGH RATE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR, GOING AROUND A CURVE. SO FAR THE FLATS HAVE ACCRUED ONCE IN THE GARAGE AND THE OTHER AT A SLOW SPEED. I WOULD GUESS THE 2 REMAINING WHEELS ARE SUFFERING THE SAME DEFECT AND WILL SHOW UP SOON. THE CHROME WHEELS CAME WITH THE CAR AND ARE A LEXUS PRODUCT. NOT A AFTER MARKET WHEEL. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SENSE NEW. I CAN NOT FIND ANY RECALL OR, MENTION OF THIS PROBLEM. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THIS IS FAIRLY COMMON WHIT CHROME WHEELS. THE REPAIR SHOP GROUND THE BAD SPOTS DOWN AND PUT A SEALER ON THE RIM. THEY WOULD NOT SAY HOW LONG IT WOULD LAST. I WOULD THINK ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHEELS OR, TIRES WOULD BE OF GREAT CONCERN. *TR

ON 3/27/12 THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND INSPECTED FOR A STRONG FUEL ODOR UPON STARTING THE ENGINE. NONE WAS DETECTED. ON 4/18/12 IT WAS RETURNED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. A SECOND INSPECTION FOUND THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WAS LEAKING FUEL AND DID REPRESENT A HAZARD, BUT WAS NOT THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL OF 2006-07 MODELS GS 350/350, 2009 IS 250, 2006-08 IS 350, LISTED AS FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR INSTALLATION. I WAS CHARGED $320.73 FOR PARTS/LABOR PLUS TAX. THE MODEL IS A LS 430. *TR

Vehicles may occasionally be subjected to contamination by airborne iron particles shed from railroad tracks, train wheels, exposure to heavy machinery facilities, grinding, welding, etc. This type of contamination can be identified by the presence of small, red or brown particles on the paint surface. These particles are often difficult to see on dark color paints but can be easily felt when brushing a hand across horizontal body surfaces such as the hood, roof, or deck lid. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to clean vehicles that may have been subjected to contamination by airborne iron particles such as rail dust during rail transportation or extended storage near industrial areas.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
