Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 1999 Mercury Villager submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 8 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A VERY BAD SHAKE THAT IS FELT ALL THROUGH THE VEHICLE AND CAUSES THE STEERING TO BE DIFFICULT WITH IT PULLING BACK AND FORTH. THE DEALER HAS REPORTED THAT LL THE VANS OF THIS MAKE ON HIS LOT HAVE THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM, HOWEVER IN CONTACTING FORD THEY DO NOT RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM AND FEEL THAT IT IS A SEVERE SHAKING SEAT ONLY. THE VAN IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 75 AS IT PULLS BACK AND FORTH. WE TRIED TO TELL THEM AND SO FAR WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND PICK UP OUR VAN FROM THE DEALER AS THEY HAVE NO FIX. WE KNOW THAT IT IS NOT SAFE. WE WANT FORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.*AK
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
