Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

AIR BAGS; AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE

Apr 26, 2019
26,016 units potentially affected
The defect: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Mirage G4 vehicles. The internal acceleration sensor in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) can misinterpret vibrations, such as from poor road conditions or a flat tire, as a malfunction and disable all the vehicle's air bags.
The risk: Air bags that do not deploy increase the risk of injury in a crash.
The remedy: MMNA notified owners, and dealers will reprogram the SRS-ECU software, free of charge. The recall began May 24, 2019. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-19-001.

This has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. While driving on the Interstate, the ABS light and skid control lights come on, shortly after all lights and the radio go off and the vehicle loses power. No power even when flooring the gas petal. Getting over to the side of the road, you can turn off the engine, sit for a few minutes, then all is fine. Diagnostics have been run showing no problems. Heading to the dealer, if I make it today! 150,000 miles.

AS FOR THE MOST PART I LOVE MY CAR BUT THE INTERIOR FOGS UP AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE . YOU CAN NOT DRIVE THIS CAR IF THE WIND IS BLOWING. IT'S HARD TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. NEVER! ACCIDENTALLY RUN OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WILL ALMOST FLIP. SO I HAVE FOUND THAT DRIVING DEFENSE IS THE ONLY WAS TO DRIVE THE MIRAGE. ITS TIRESOME JUST TO GO GET GROCERIES. LOVE THE GAS MILEAGE. I SHOULD HAVE RESEARCHED THE CAR. I HAD AN ECLIPSE AND I LOVED IT. I GUESS I THOUGHT THE MIRAGE, BEING A MITSUBISHI WOULD HAVE KINDA THE SAME. NOT IN POWER BUT THE WAY IT DROVE.
