2022 Nissan Frontier Brakes Problems

While driving the Automatic Braking System (ABS), Traction Control, forward collision, rear collision and system fault triangle alerts displayed resulting in systems being disabled. Pulled code, C1116, while waiting for dealer service availability. Dealer confirmed the issue is known, and Nissan issued a technical bulletin, NTB22-084, on Sept 29 2022 for issue impacting the ABS Control Module. According to Nissan this module issue impacts the ABS, TCS, collision detection, and cruise control systems.

This truck was parked in the driveway for at least 24 hours. The battery was dead, so my fiancé got the jumper box out of the truck and popped the hood. After he lifted the hood, he got one of the clamps on the battery when the truck started to roll forward. He couldn’t get out in enough time and was run over. The truck can be inspected upon request. There was a police report and insurance report but no one inspected the vehicle.

I took my 2022 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 in for an oil change and a state inspection. The shop discovered that my left rear axle seal was leaking all over the brakes and rotors. As a result, it failed the inspection, and I had to spend $1,600 to get it repaired. The mechanic mentioned that it's unusual to see this issue on a 2022 model with only 27,000 miles. I figured I should report it, as it might be a concern.

We have had multiple occasions when the dashboard read as "System Fault"with multiple warning/indicator lights. 12/12/23, while backing out of a parking space at low speed. 9/12/2024 while at a Red Light, and lightly letting off the brake. 9/13/24 while driving 65 mph . An appt was requested at the dealership of purchase for 9/17/24. An email notification was also received from the truck stating that the ABS System may be malfunctioning. When the alert warning/indicator lights appear, the alert states on the dashboard "Warning" "System Fault" "See Owners Manual" . The system generated email states "Your vehicle's antilock braking system may require service". We only received one notification from the vehicle related to the 9/12/24 alert.On 9/19/24 the dealership could not replicate or find a code related to the ABS System Fault and we were encouraged to bring the vehicle back if it happened again so they could run the code.The dealership would take the vehicle for a longer drive on 9/20/24 to try to replicate the issue. At this point, we filed a complaint with the manufacturer, and have not heard directly from the dealership if they have been able to replicate the warning. The concern for safety is that since the vehicle alerting that the ABS system may be require attention, there may be other electrical issues with the vehicle, along with braking issue concern. There was one occasion on 1/21/2024 with a system error message stating "warning when Parked apply parking brake" the vehicle had just been turned on and put in reverse. There is a large safety concern as this vehicle has had other safety issues including a half latch (where the doors would not open from inside or outside, requiring exiting through alternate door, a parking pawl recall, and transmission issues that we've brought forward in our formal complaint to the manufacturer. Including "Tow" alarm notifications to strengthen the safety concern of electrical issues with this vehicle.

I do not know what caused this to happen. There were no warning lights or messages. Prior to this incident the transmission would rev/speed up on its own for a few seconds (I don't know if this is relevant). Salesperson told me about this and said it was nothing to worry about. The vehicle is equipped with a sensor that brakes if you come to close to an object. This sensor has definitely worked in the past. I was backing up down a long driveway, approximately 50 yards.When I took my foot off of the gas pedal, it did not slow down. Instead it sped up and was uncontrollable. I looked down to make sure my foot was on the brake which it was. I then used both feet to push down on the brake but that did not work either. The vehicle did not stop until it ran into a building. If somebody would have been behind me they would have died or been seriously injured. If the building would not have been there, I might have died or been seriously injured due to the vehicle accelerating at a high speed on its own and the brakes failing to stop the vehicle. This incident happened yesterday so it has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or inspected by the manufacturer or insurance. It happened on private property and will not be inspected by the police.

I purchased the vehicle in May of 2022. Since that time, the vehicle has had all safety systems report as failed on at least 11 different occasions. The vehicle will report "System Failure", ABS Failure, Traction Control Failure, Forward & Rear Collision sensor failures. It was reported to me by the dealership that when this happens, the ABS and Traction Control do continue to work, however I have had my brakes lock up and send me sliding down the road as a result of these errors. The errors can occur in any weather or environmental conditions -- They are seemingly random. The dealership has had the vehicle since 5/22/2023 and has not been able to find anything wrong with the vehicle. This is their fifth time attempting to diagnose and correct this issue. It was first reported to the dealership around 1600 miles, and now the vehicle is sitting around 39,000 miles. I have been unable to replicate this issue intentionally. It happens at random.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the cause of the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that various undisclosed brake components were replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. Driving up a mountain road to a ski resort, my ABS, Traction Control, Forward Collision warning, and rear collision warning lights all turned on at the same time. My ABS and traction control systems turned off, as evidenced by increased sliding around and no ABS present when attempting to stop. I took the vehicle in for an oil change, recall repair, and asked the service managers to look at the safety systems. They informed me that they needed to "order parts" to rectify the issue and they did not have an estimated delivery date for the parts. A week later, I called the service department and was told they needed to order a "rear axle" and that it was backordered with no estimated delivery date. I have filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer affairs.

Dealer preformed NTB22-084 due to ABS lights. Since this TSB was preformed the ICC fails to brake the vehicle when it is approaching another car. Current stored DTC is C1A13-72. When the Frontier needs to brake automatically to maintain distance from the car ahead, the dash gets the following warning messages. Rear Automatic Braking System Fault see owners manual, Automatic Emergency Braking System Fault see owners manual, Cruise Control Malfunction. During this fault the following systems are disabled: Vehicle to vehicle distance control Conventional Cruise Control Automatic Emergency Braking Intelligent Forward Collision Warning Rear Automatic Braking This creates an unsafe driving condition which may lead to a collision.

I had an accident , last night 08/04/2022 I was parked an upper hill and out of no were my truck blast up w speed and went forward at full speed I couldn’t control it I try braking and the brakes weren’t working my foot was literally all the way forward. my new vehicle purchased from a nissan dealer has presented me with the same error twice, the first time they solved it for me but then it continued to fail, however I am writing here because I received a report that vehicles of this model have problems, it seems to me an abuse that is excused in that there are no vehicles to charge a "market adjustment" technically this is an extortion if you want a vehicle there is no more payment, and now I receive a letter from Nissan where my vehicle may present faults and I present it from the beginning and they do not They saw nothing on the computer, so I pay almost $50,000 for a vehicle where they later tell me that it could cause an accident? I get nervous and I don't want to use it but I have to pay the installments or does it damage my credit? What does the departments in charge do in this case? Do we put my life, my family and other people at risk to support these corporations? Is there no insurance or bonds to support these damages? supposedly the only fault they found was a brake sensor that was stuck but after changing it it failed again and also when I'm stopped the vehicle doesn't completely gain stability I always use the emergency brake Apart from the fact that I made the claim at a Nissan dealership and they told me that I should go to where I bought it (absurd and stupid answer), I sent an email to Nissan and they never responded (that is, they are participants and bad service after the sale, a complete scam, what they offer from guarantee at the national level) and they do not leave a record of the claims because everything is on their page.

June 24, 2022 driving the vehicle at average speed 52-54 in highways when i pressed the brake it didnt respond, the automatic emergency braking did not activate or stop the vehicle. On 2 recent occasions the truck's warning lights flashed on the dash and the vehicle applied the brakes for no apparent reason. The first occurance the dealer in Fairfield, Ohio, guessed there may have been debris blocking the camera eye. On the second occurance the dealer in Springdale, Ohio, could find no recalls or reason for the malfunction. Our concern is this malfunction will happen when the vehicle is going 70 MPH on an interstate.
