The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact became aware that the ABS was not operating as intended while the warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure also affected the cruise control feature. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was currently not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,162.

While driving in a snow storm, the power steering suddenly quit and my truck was forced off the highway and into a ditch. My truck had severe front end damage as a result. Luckily I wasn't hurt. After which the steering was normal for awhile, then suddenly did it again. Now the truck is essentially undriveable.

Abs traction control and e brake lights are on every time I go to crank the truck. I also get a check engine light with three codes causing my power steering and speedometer and odometer to stop working, I can sometimes clear the codes but the check engine light reappears when I’m going down the road. It has caused me to almost hit a light pole in the rain when I was going around a curve under 20 mph. I took the vehicle to my local ram dealer and was told it was the abs module and that it is a common problem and there is no eta on a new one so I’ve tried to get a reman and can’t because no company is making the parts to build them. I don’t understand that if the abs going out is a common problem then why hasn’t there been a recall

Shortly after purchasing this truck, the ABS, Traction Control, Electronic braking system, and trailer brake system lights all came on. Back then I did some research and learned it was just something I will have to live with. Fast forward 2 years and the other day I drove to work like normal but when I came back out to my truck the electronic power steering had gone out. Some research told me that it was caused by my ABS module going bad. It is ridiculous that this part is going out in so many trucks and it is not even available for purchase. I’d happily replace it if it were available. Downright irresponsible on Ram’s part.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2014 Ram 1500 Tradesman. While driving, the vehicle suddenly experienced a complete loss of power steering without any warning. At the same time, the power steering warning light began flashing and the dashboard lights started flicker. Because the power steering failed unexpectedly, I was unable to steer the truck normally. We nearly crashed into a store because the vehicle would not turn as needed. This created an immediate and serious safety hazard that could have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities. The simultaneous loss of power steering and electrical issues, including the flickering dashboard lights, suggest a possible failure affecting critical vehicle systems. This defect occurred without warning and made the vehicle unsafe to operate. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate this issue, as it presents a significant safety risk and could affect other owners of 2014 Ram 1500 trucks.

I am reporting a safety concern with my 2014 Ram 1500, which recently reached 100,000 miles. The ABS module has failed, and replacement parts are not available to repair this critical safety system. Many other Ram owners appear to be experiencing the same issue. Additionally, my airbag warning light is on, creating further concerns about vehicle safety. A failure of essential safety systems with no available repair solution is unacceptable. I urge Ram/Stellantis to make parts available and resolve this issue as soon as possible to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon attempting to drive the vehicle in the morning, the power steering failed, rendering the vehicle undrivable. No warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to a friend's residence, and a friend of the contact, who was an independent mechanic, diagnosed an internal electronic power steering unit fault. No further information was available. The contact stated that the "Service Power Steering" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.

With no warning my truck lost all anti-lock braking, traction control, stability control, trailer brakes, and 4x4 capability (computer will not allow 4x4 to engage). This is due to an "abs module" failure. Ram/Dodge has no new units available to repair this faulty part and no ETA on if/when they will be available. There was thankfully no accident with this failure but obviously, it could lead to one. Especially since the part cannot be fixed. Owners are left with scavenging used parts that are still operational. As in my case, my vehicle will have to be "fixed" with an abs module from a wrecked truck! Also, the electronic steering can fail with no warnings. Leading to complete loss of power steering, traction control, and stability control. This failed on my truck as I was driving as well. Thankfully again, no accident with this failure. There is no new factory part to replace this unit either. I had this repaired with a remanufactured unit that failed in one month, then it was replaced again and seems to be fixed for now. These are keystone components to an automobile and it is unacceptable for them to just stop working and have no available parts to the responsible consumer. This leads to owners having a useless worthless vehicle rotting in the driveway or a highly unsafe vehicle on the road to those irresponsible. I want to also shed light to the fact that these issues encompass model years from 2009 to brand new 2026 Ram trucks. There are people with 2025-2026 Ram trucks dealing with this same issue, my vehicles age isn't an iota to molten issues under the surface to Ram owners! No one is asking for a hand out but to merely repair our vehicles.

As is clearly a very common defect, my exhaust manifold bolts broke and the manifold warped. This is the second time this has happened. RAM knows about this problem. In fact, it is so well known that it is called "the HEMI tick". The fact that such a shoddy part has continued to be put on millions of trucks and other vehicles should warrant a recall.

Check Engine light came on with a code P0463. This indicates that the fuel level sensor is bad. This is a VERY common issue on these trucks. It causes the vehicle to no longer go into "ECO" mode which is wasting fuel. This happens every time I fill the gas tank and does not go away until the tank reaches 3/4 tank. The part is garbage and is known to fail.

On the morning of May 26, 2026, I was driving at 30 MPH on a neighborhood road. After a few miles, and while approaching a green to caution traffic light. I applied the brake and felt a definite tug in the steering wheel and immediately, completely lost power steering. While at the red traffic light and a full stop, I placed the truck in park stopped and restarted the engine, and the power steering was restored. It happened again within a half mile again while applying the brake. Although difficult to steer at 25 MPH, it is incredibly difficult to turn the wheel when at a full stop. However, by stopping and restarting the engine it enabled me to navigate typical parking maneuvers for a short time.
