2015 RAM 1500 Problems

Exhaust bolts broken. Exhaust leak and loud ticking noise and smell

On July 2nd, I was actively driving my 2015 Ram 1500 equipped with the 5.7L Hemi V8 gas engine. The vehicle is completely factory-stock with zero aftermarket electronics, wiring modifications, or accessories. While operating the truck, the dashboard instrument cluster suddenly began flickering wildly, indicating a severe voltage drop or electrical system failure. Immediately following the flickering, a catastrophic fire erupted inside the cabin, originating directly underneath the dashboard on the passenger's side. The fire department responded to extinguish the flames. The engine bay was unaffected by fluid leaks, and the fire originated strictly within the factory dashboard electrical wiring harness/modules. The vehicle is a total loss.

the Electronic power steering assist keeps going in and out. it will work fine for about three months then it goes out for a month or so. it is very hard to steer and could cause someone to lose control and crash.

The contact stated that the fuel system was replaced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, after the repair, the vehicle persistently experienced fuel injector leaks and fuel line failures. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle at the residence, a fuel injector leak was noticed along with fuel leaking onto the exhaust. Additionally, the contact noticed thick white smoke emerging from the engine bay on one occasion, suspected a fire hazard, and used a fire extinguisher to dissipate the smoke. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and stalled. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road and verified that a fuel injector had blown. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, who had advised the contact that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact also stated that a fuel line failed while driving, requiring the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, where technicians retrieved diagnostic trouble codes indicating low fuel pressure; however, the contact was informed that no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to several other dealers, who referred the contact to the initial dealer who completed the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 232,000. The VIN was invalid.

In 2021 my EGR was replaced because of a recall but now my exhaust manifold has failed and needs to be replaced out of pocket even though it’s been a known issue and there was a remedy already made to alleviate the issue. Now because of soot buildup my throttle is limited until I have it fixed. But driving to a dealership is too far to be diagnosed as there has been cases of fires occurring when this issue occurs.

My truck was manufactured February 2015 and was not on the list of specific Ram 1500s to have this recall done. I was with my kids getting an oil change on the truck. When I was leaving the maintenance bay my power steering suddenly failed and left us stranded to get towed. Chrysler stated that there was certain conditions that led for certain models to have recalls for this part, but not my truck. They could not give me a clear reason why mine was not included on the list.

ABS module has failed and causes traction control and cruise control not to work. Ram says the part is unavailable. The vehicle is unsafe to operate like this.

While driving my ABS light brake light and throttle light came on when I took in for a diagnostic said ABS module is bad called dealer can’t get anymore. It’s not safe to drive now I’m out of vehicle.

I started my Truck to go to a funeral approximately 100 miles from my house and the brake light , abs light and traction control light all came on. thank goodness it did not happen while in motion. after doing significant research I am appalled that this common safety issue has not been addressed by the dealer. I am reporting a severe and widespread manufacturing defect regarding the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module in my 2015 Ram 1500. Upon starting the vehicle, the dashboard is clear. However, immediately upon driving forward or backward, the internal electronics of the ABS module fail (Fault Code C2200-49: ABS Module Internal Electronic Failure). This instantaneous failure immediately disables the Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) without warning while the vehicle is in motion. The sudden, unprompted deactivation of the ABS and Electronic Stability Control while driving creates an immediate safety hazard, especially during inclement weather, emergency braking scenarios, or high-speed maneuvers. The loss of these critical safety driver-aids significantly increases the risk of a vehicle skid, loss of steering control, and subsequent crash. This exact C2200-49 defect is heavily documented across thousands of identical 4th-generation Ram trucks, indicating a systemic design flaw (faulty internal circuit boards/solder joints exposed to engine heat) that Stellantis has refused to recall, despite issuing similar ABS recalls for newer model years. Thank goodness I was moving very slow. After all the lights came on I tested the truck with my abs tool and received a code C2200 49/st. upon further research I found it is a very common and expensive fix. I am unable to reach the local dodge ram dealer locally or the statewide service number. 7/36/26 must be a computer outage. I will continue to attempt to get an appointment at the dealer for confirmation.

I was quoted a replacement cost of $1579 + tax. I was also told the part, 68228991AD is on indefinite backorder. I have tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. As of this date replacement and remanufactured modules are not available. This is not just an issue with 2015 Ram trucks but extends to other Ram model years using the same part number. This is a huge safety issue that should be addressed through a recall. It is a travesty that Ram would not maintain adequate supplies of essential safety-related repair parts for a vehicle that is only 10 years old. At this point I have no recourse except to drive the truck in this condition. I am unable to sell the vehicle due to this situation.

While driving on the highway with my entire family in the vehicle, truck lost power without warning and what it seems it went into a limp mode. This created an incredibly hazardous situation, exposing my family and the drivers around us to an imminent risk of a high-speed collision. Thankfully, nothing happened and no one was hurt. Upon restarting the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated, and power was drastically reduced, capping our speed at approximately 40 mph. I brought the truck to St Charles's dealership for diagnosis. Service department has informed me that the root cause of this catastrophic failure was the crankshaft tone wheel. Furthermore, I was informed that this specific issue was an unaddressed/unfixed defect on my vehicle by Stellantis. What I learned is that the fix for a broken tone wheel required dropping the transmission to physically press a brand-new tone wheel onto the crankshaft. Because this was incredibly expensive and time-consuming, Chrysler rolled out a recall remedy consisting of a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software flash.This should be unacceptable for trucks that cost $70,000 or any vehicle. Imagine that software failed what would have happened and yet we had no idea about this.

Component or system that failed or malfunctioned: The vehicle’s airbag restraint system failed to deploy during a severe single-vehicle crash. This includes the front airbags and any associated crash sensors. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The failure of the airbag system significantly increased the risk of serious injury. Due to the airbags not deploying during a high-impact collision with a fixed object (tree), the driver sustained a serious head injury. Proper airbag deployment could have reduced or prevented the severity of the injury. Confirmation or reproduction of the problem: At this time, the issue has not yet been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Investigation is pending. Vehicle or component inspection: The accident has been documented by law enforcement and insurance representatives. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but is available for inspection. Insurance evaluation is in progress. Warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicating an airbag or restraint system malfunction prior to the accident. No airbag warning indicators were illuminated before the crash. If applicable: UNKNOWN whether any fault codes were present prior to the accident. Description of incident: The crash occurred at night in heavy fog conditions. While traveling around a curve, the driver encountered an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane and took evasive action to avoid a collision. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused significant damage to the entire vehicle. Despite the severity of the collision, no airbags deployed. The driver sustained a serious head injury that may have been mitigated had the airbag system functioned as designed.

I was in motor vehicle accident in my 2015 ram 1500 tradesman I was traveling at 60 mph and rear ended a semi trailer that was going 5 mph and the airbags did not deploy there was not lights on the dash to indicate a issue with the airbag system the ram is in a insurance lot for inspection

The contact owns a 2015 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while parked and inspecting the brakes, the contact noticed cracks on both ends of the sway bar. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the sway bar was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the sway bar was cracked on both ends and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Engine hood latch failed. Hood would not close.

WHILE MOVING TO SOUTH CAROLINA i NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS HANGING, A WIRE OR SOME TYP IF LINE, AS I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK, I FOUND THAT IT WAS THE FUEL TANK STRAP. THE STRAP HAD PULLED OUT FROM THE FRAME THAT WAS CORRODED. I HAVE ALWAYS WASHED THE UNDER CARRIAGE COMING FROM MASSACHUSSETTS AND THE ROAD SALT. AT THE PRESENT TIME I AM USING A TIE DOWN STRAP TO SECURE IN PLACE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF RECALL BUT NEVER RECIEVED ANYTHING IN WRITTING.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the bulbs were replaced, but the failure persisted. The mechanic informed the contact that the wiring harness and the socket had melted. The contact was referred to the dealer. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Shortly after the purchase we received a TSB for dim low beams. We took it to our dealer and they increased the voltage to the low beams using a scanner. They seemed ok but still seemed dim compared to our other vehicles. Since the purchase of this truck we have replaced the low beam headlamps 7 times. Doing research on this problem it is wide spread with no remedy or fix from RAM. Just google dim headlights 2015 RAM it will fill the screen. This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed.

The ABS, traction control and emergency brake light all turned came up on the dashboard. I believe a past recall May 16, 2018 was of a wiring issue effecting the cruise control. Since all three lights have came on, the cruise control feature is not available for use. This is a concern within the Ram community and needs to be addressed.

I can be driving down the road and the driver seat belt will unhook by its self . An I was pulling a trailer and the tailgate must of came open and I didn’t notice and the trailer jack dented my tailgate.

The seat belt locks and then when I unlatch it and try to put it back on, I can't because it stays locked and won't pull AT ALL to be able to put it back on.

The back up camera may or may not work. yes 2 It would be easy to back over a small child. 3 The problem was reported to a dealer and was told it could be a bad wire or a faulty radio system that would be expensive to repair.4 no 5 It began to mostly not work a couple years back

The contact was informed that the powertrain control module (PCM) software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact notified the dealer and was informed that the recall repair was previously completed on the vehicle and advised the contact to notify the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was previously completed, and the contact was responsible for all future repairs. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

2015 RAM 1500. CONSUMER STATED THAT THEIR TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED THE ABS BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE YEAR 2023.THE CONSUMER'S REQUEST FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE WAS DENIED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY.
