The defect: Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Hurricane and Windsport recreational vehicles. The driver and front passenger overhead cabinets may detach.
The risk: Overhead cabinets that detach while the vehicle is in motion can fall onto seat occupants, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and reinstall the overhead cabinets, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 15, 2023. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000290.

The defect: Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Hurricane and Windsport motorhomes, models 27B, 29M, 32T, 33X, 34J, 34R and 35M. The electronic control center circuit board may be damaged from voltages over 17 volts causing damage to the circuit board.
The risk: A damaged circuit board could increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Thor will notify owners, and dealers will add an additional circuit module to the existing component board to provide reverse polarity and over-current protection, free of charge. The recall began October 20, 2020. Owners may contact Thor customer service at 1-877-855-2867. Thor's number for this recall is RC000203.

The defect: Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 ACE, 2021 Four Winds and 2020 Gemini, Axis, Compass, Delano, Windsport, Hurricane, Outlaw, and Vegas motorhomes. The adhesive bond between the glass and the metal hinge frame of the frameless windows may fail which would then allow the glass to detach and fall out.
The risk: If the window glass detaches while the vehicle is moving it could become a projectile, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the frameless windows for proper adhesive bond strength, replacing the windows as necessary, free of charge. The recall began July 10, 2020. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000192.

Trailer Hitch Receiver Structure May Crack and Separate

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation, PE24023, on August 14, 2024, to investigate allegations of Thor Motor Coach motorhome frame or trailer hitch structure cracking and separating. The hitch was manufactured by Lippert and installed by Thor as standard original equipment. ODI received eight Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) describing the hitch structure cracking. If not caught in time, a cracked hitch can fully fracture and separate from the vehicle. ODI sent information requests to Thor and Lippert on September 6, 2024 and September 27, 2024, respectively. Thor's full response was received October 31, 2024, and Lippert's full response was received December 6, 2024. ODI reviewed the responses and learned of improvements introduced to increase the overall strength of the system. The manufacturers reported 32 total incidents, and ODI is aware of 37 non-duplicative subject vehicle incidents in total, including four crash incidents where the towed vehicle separated and struck a roadside feature. The overall failure rate for all subject vehicles is low, and ODI isnot aware of any failures on vehicles produced in the last 30 months. Although a defect has not been identified, the manufacturers understand the seriousness of a potential hitch receiver structure failure. As a result, Thor, supported by Lippert, is conducting a customer satisfaction campaign that instructs consumers to inspect their hitch structure and informs what to look for and what to do if issues are found. If consumers areuncomfortable performing this inspection, Thor dealers can inspect the trailer hitch for them. The inspection and repair will be done at no expense to the consumer. ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) with this manufacturer action. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. Overhead cabinet above driver came loose and could fall on the driver. I had the vehicle repaired at MERICLE RV at the cost of $510.00 on 2-03-2023

The contact owns a 2020 Thor Windsport RV built on a 2019 Ford F53 Chassis. The contact stated that the screws used to secure the overhead cabinets in place above the driver’s and passenger’s seats were extremely loose. The contact was concerned that the cabinets might fall while driving, causing an injury or even a crash. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V804000 (Equipment) however, the model year Thor Windsport was not included. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advise the contact to take the RV to the dealer to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 9,784.
