What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle with a trailer hitched to the vehicle, the trailer brake lights failed to turn off. The contact disconnected the trailer from the vehicle for the trailer brake lights to turn off. Additionally, the electric trailer brakes and turn signals intermittently failed to function properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer could not determine where the wiring harness 120-Volt power was going and was unable to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
Driving down the highway at 60mph, dash started blinking for trailer brake service needed. Was not trailering anything. Within 3 seconds I had smoke filling the cab, pulled over and got out. Within 3min truck was fully engulfed totally gone. God forbid I was alone but even at that I did not have time to get many things out and keep imagining what a different day I’d be looking at if there were kids with me.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the trailer brake control module failed to operate as needed while hauling a trailer, causing the trailer to lose braking capability. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the trailer control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,500.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
First started around 4 to 6000 miles, felt a shuttering between 50 and 65 mph. Shattering lasted from 10 to maybe 30 seconds let off the fuel and reapplied still there on one or two occasions. RPMs were approximately 2000 RPM shattering stopped in our PMs went down to 1500. This is occurred many times taken to a dealership always get same result, no problem found. Problem always occurs just after a transmission shift which I can tell by RPM. When I apply gas shuttering sometimes increases not always. Also noticed that sometimes shifting on a flat surface 65 miles an hour engine will speed up to almost 2000 RPM and when it goes to shift back, I get a clunk or sometimes a shutter normal cruising is about 1500 RPM at 65 mile an hour. I didn’t notice towing an empty trailer about 2600 pounds shattering seemed worse. With no Trailer I sometimes get erratic shifting where RPM goes 1500 to 2000 to 2500 and then back down again then back up again then it can shift all the way back to 1500 RPM still maintaining 65 mph. Also another problem may be connected to transmission, but I have pulled out into traffic pushed on the pedal and it feels like the truck has no power push on the pedal a little bit more still no power and all of a sudden it’s like everything kicks in RPMs, increase rapidly and truck accelerates extremely fast, throwing things off the dash moving things on the floorboard. Sometimes I see that a downshift occurs and RPMs increase other times I see RPM staying right at the 2000 mark and it still occurs almost got rear ended a couple of times. Check engine light has been on one dealership said they pulled over 40 codes. Still they all claim can’t duplicate problem. Yes I agree it is random but with me watching telemeter and County shift points biggest problem area is fourth gear fifth gear and sixth gear.
Transmission Control Valve failed causing my vehicle to drop from 70 miles per hour below 40 miles per hour rapidly on the highway/interstate which could have caused a fatal crash. Called OnStar and was told my code showing was P0747 meaning service now. I called dealerships to get an appt next morning and this happened in the evening and was told the soonest I could get in was a week away, most was longer than that. I did worked in and was told my TCV needed to be replaced. I was told this is a common problem with this truck but when I contacted GM they told me they could only do a 30% courtesy discount because my 2400 Chevy Silverado 2500HD already had 83,000 miles on it and is out of warranty. I have researched this and NHTSA already has a bulletin in place for this same issue but it didn’t include my VIN so they told me there was nothing more than can be done. This is a huge safety risk and concern. My daughter and wife could have been driving my truck and it could have caused a very bad wreck. My vehicle had no prior warning until this happened. My vehicle did say reduced engine performance and my check engine light came on during the event but nothing prior. Now my truck shifts hard and gets hot fast. We opted not to drive and took it to a local dealership for repair due to the risk of injury if we continued to drive it to us and others. We are not put out a vehicle and monthly payment as the part is on back order. GM pretty much is brushing us off and told us we can file a complaint with NHTSA if we feel like it’s something more that needs done. Bulletin number in place for this issue on other VINS is N242454441. I don’t want this to happen to others so I wanted to report it plus I feel like GM should have cover total cost especially with it being a known issue. Thanks
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim

On or about March 14, 2026 vehicle in question stopped working, losing all power and gave a message that the vehicle was over heating and to turn off immediately. A large amount of steam emitted through the coolant reservoir that was a mixture of oil and coolant. Vehicle was towed to a manufacturer service location. The oil/coolant system ruptured damaging the radiator, thermostat, hoses and related parts. Vehicle with low mileage/hours was consuming engine oil at what one would consider a greater rate. ( 1 quart every other day). Our organization is aware that the diesel model of this truck had a recall for a oil/cooling system issue and we believe the same liability may lay with the gas version. Mileage was approximately 13,000 at time of breakdown.
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
Due to the Fuel Pump Power Control Module (Part number 13554821) failure, my vehicle stalled in the middle of a turn while pulling a 10,000 pound RV. This caused me to lose both power steering and braking capabilities. From what I gather, this part is part of a "phased" initiative recall (see N252516900 Fuel Pump Power Control Module). This part was seemingly installed in all or most of GM SUVs and Trucks since 2021. Unfortunately, only some 2021-2023 models are under recall due to the "phased" nature of this recall. Meanwhile, all Heavy Duty trucks are driving around on our roadways, highways, and interstates, just like I was, towing heavy machinery, equipment, and RVs because both you and GM are dragging your feet on demanding these flawed modules be removed from these vehicles. In summation, virtually every GM SUV and truck on the road produced since 2021 is a ticking time bomb that could stall at any moment and disable both power steering and braking capability. If thats not bad enough, concerned owners, such as myself, are stonewalled with the words "there is no active recall on your vehicle " both by GM and your very website. The "phased" nature of this recall is unacceptable and is putting lives at risk. Had I been traveling at highway speeds when this failure occurred, while towing a heavy load, with braking traffic in front of me or a sharp turn, I would not have been able to stop or turn. This is an urgent matter and should be addressed accordingly, not in a "phased" manner.
My 2024 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in Enid, Oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal DEF/emissions behavior. The failure involves the SCR/DEF emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed Product Emissions Recall for SCR Fault Detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at Classic Chevrolet in Owasso, OK for diagnosis.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while at a stop sign all lights on the outside of the vehicle began to turn on and off independently. No warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight control module needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and they referred him to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 61,000.
Very limited while driving in the dark cause head lights go off and can’t drive in the rain or snow cause wipers turn off not save for my family and I and other drivers on the road Thai all happen, After the dealer (Lithia Chevrolet of Redding, CA) performed GM recall programming on the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) and related software updates, my truck began having serious electrical failures. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. GM has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility, saying the recall is “closed,” but the electrical failure only began immediately after their programming. This is a safety hazard when driving at night or in the rain, and it affects the trailer braking/lighting circuits as well. I have an active GM case opened for this issue. The truck is unsafe to operate in this condition. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall programming is causing electrical module failures and whether additional action is needed.

Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
In May 2026, my vehicle began exhibiting serious and dangerous problems. It would shake violently after starting and occasionally stop on its own while driving. On [XXX], my wife and I got into the vehicle and started driving from our home in West Virginia. While driving uphill at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly began shaking severely and then came to a complete stop. After a few moments, it restarted itself and accelerated to about 30–40 mph while continuing to shake violently. This happened several times during the trip. Fuel consumption also became extremely abnormal, dropping to approximately 6 miles per gallon. Because Team One Chevrolet in Oakland, Maryland, is the nearest dealer, we drove there for service. After several hours, the dealer returned the vehicle and informed us that they had replaced a sensor. However, after leaving the dealership, the Check Engine light came on again after only three engine starts. I immediately returned to the dealership, where the warning light was cleared. The following day, the Check Engine light returned. When I contacted the dealership, I was told to continue driving the vehicle with the warning light on for one to two weeks. After more than a week, I returned to the dealership, and the light was reset again. A few days later, the same problem reappeared. At that point, I was informed that, according to dealership procedures, replacement parts could not be ordered until the issue had been reported three times. After the third visit, the parts were finally ordered, and I was required to wait several more weeks for another service appointment. I also reported the issue directly to Chevrolet. Despite multiple visits, repeated failures, and a significant amount of time spent attempting repairs, my vehicle remains unrepaired. My factory warranty is approaching expiration, and no one has provided a clear answer regarding what will happen if the upcoming repair attempt fails to resolve the problem. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AC
When driving, between the speeds of 40-50mph, the wheels would lock up without warning. This happened 4 times during the month of January, sometimes in 4wd. This occurred at speed when the vehicle seemed to be upshifting. Control of the vehicle would be lost during the lockup as the wheels would stop rotation entirely and rather violently. Check engine light came on after the 4th incident, reducing power and a code of P0747 "Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Stuck On". The transmission valve body was repaired by the local Chevrolet dealership under powertrain warranty. This is a known issue on previous years of this truck with the same transmission but has not been expanded to cover this vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to maintain contorol and was not in traffic when this occurred. I notified the dealer that the vehicle was shifting very hard during the last visit but no codes or issues were found at that time indicating an issue.

Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact's husband owned a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 54 MPH, the steering wheel jerked to the left and sent the vehicle over onto the opposite side of the road, where the vehicle struck a steel electric pole. The contact stated that the two front and two side air bags deployed. The Police Department, Sheriff's Office, and the Fire Department were called, and the firemen used the jaws of life to extract the contact's husband from the vehicle. A Police report was filed. Medical attention was needed, and the contact's husband was taken by ambulance and then airlifted to a hospital. The contact's husband sustained a compound fracture to the left forearm, a fractured pelvic bone, fractures to the C5, C6, and C7 in the neck, a fractured first rib, a spine injury, and a left knee injury. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,400.
My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Bison ZR2 (VIN [XXX] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 AM on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from OnStar Advanced Diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 Silverado HD power-loss and steering failures. Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer hitch detached. The contact stated that the failure occurred while a trailer was hitched to the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure caused damage to the trailer and a hole in the bed of the vehicle. In addition, the contact performed an inspection of the vehicle and noticed that the trailer hitch was not properly welded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was confirmed that the metal hitch was not penetrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the results could not be disclosed to the contact. The contact stated that because of the failure and not knowing the safety of the vehicle, the vehicle had not been driven since. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer requested a third-party investigation. The contact was requested to take the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer requested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer so that the third-party investigation could be performed. The vehicle was picked up by the dealer. The contact was informed that the investigation was completed; however, the results were not shared with the contact. The failure mileage was 29,300.
The tailgate releases on its own multiple times a day. Once it’s down, you can hear it attempt to do it again and the lights flash. It drained the battery also

Can not see when driving in reverse in the dark. Camera image appears as a red fog and I can't see a thing. I tried using the rear view mirrors and again could not see anything. Totally driving in reverse in the blind. Absolute safety issue that needs to be addressed. I don't know if this is a camera issue, a lighting issue or both. I have an appointment with the dealership I purchased the vehicle from on 10/23/2025 to address the problem explained above. I purchased this vehicle as a used unit with less than 8,000 miles and this was the first time I had the occasion to operate the vehicle in reverse in the dark.

Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler Trail Runner AT, Tire Size: 275/65/R20, DOT Number: 1PJ0TJB2V. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear tire had a large bulge along the sidewall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the passenger's side rear tire needed to be replaced. The tire was not yet replaced. The tire manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was 1,500. The vehicle failure mileage was 2,500. The VIN was unavailable.
Tires lt275/65r20 is the size. I purchased my truck Oct 2023. The day after i got home. I noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the front tire. I took it to the dealer the next day and they replaced it. But not after they accused me of hitting something. Luckily i had the picture the salesman had sent prior to me purchasing the truck and it was visible there. So a few weeks noticed 2 tires had same problem. Dealer again tried to say it was caused by an impact. They would not replace. so i called goodyear who had no problem replacing them at Belle tire. This past sunday, same tires that were replaced had a bulging in the side walls again! Belle tire replaced AGAIN under goodyear warranty but with 2 different good year tires. So I don't know if this is a good year defect or wrong tire being sold for these large trucks. The safety of my family is important to me, and these tires problems are scary. I purchased this truck from Hubler Chevrolet in Indianapolis.

Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD Crew. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH on a green traffic light, another vehicle was attempting to turn left while distracted by her phone. The contact veered to the left to avoid crashing with the other vehicle but was unsuccessful and landed 15 feet forward after the collision. No air bags were deployed, causing both the driver and passenger to be injured. The contact stated he sustained injuries on both his left and right hand and lower back, for which he was currently receiving treatment. No information was available on the other individual injured. The damage to the vehicle was on the front passenger's side. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was pending a diagnosis however the frame was to be welded however due to the metal material the contact was concerned about it being back on the roadway. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
