Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Overview

Our database contains 19 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer, most frequently naming the electrical, powertrain (other) and engine categories. 259 manufacturer communications are on file.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What owners report

Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded

  • Electrical1142.3%
  • Powertrain (other)623.1%
  • Engine311.5%
  • Steering13.8%
  • Transmission13.8%
  • Brakes13.8%
  • Visibility13.8%

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Safety recalls

No recalls in our database for this model year

That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

Component Affected: POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULEDescription of Safety Defect:The vehicle is experiencing a severe, intermittent, and violent mechanical "garage shift" engagement lurch. This occurs specifically when shifting the gear selector from Reverse to Drive during a cold-start cycle. When the gear is selected, there is a distinct hydraulic delay followed by a violent mechanical slam that causes the entire vehicle to violently lurch forward. This unintended vehicle movement occurs even though the engine has naturally idled down completely below 1,000 RPM, and while the brake pedal is fully and firmly depressed to the floor.Safety Hazard and Consequences:This defect poses an immediate and severe safety hazard. The mechanical force of the lurch is strong enough to potentially overcome the vehicle's braking system or cause a foot-slip off the pedal, resulting in sudden, unintended vehicle movement. This creates a high risk of a low-speed collision, vehicle damage, or striking a pedestrian or property during tight parking or garage maneuvers. General Motors' internal service bulletins (such as Bulletin 24-NA-009) indicate known issues with sticking clutch regulator valves or solenoid over-travel causing line pressure spikes in these modern transmissions, yet no safety recall has been issued to permanently address this dangerous powertrain defect.

Rear back up camera. One day it started to glitch when put in reverse. I placed the car in park, gave it a moment and put it in reverse again. This was repeated in the attempt to get the back up camera to work. Next- turned the vehicle off for a moment, restarted it, put in reverse and this did not help. Also, I attempted to check for update/update and reset the infotainment system. This did not help. The backup camera, after this incident has not worked since. I bought this car brand new. Also, just to note, the car shakes dramatically when increasing certain speed during winter, due to very little snow on the tires.

Rear camera stoped working. I read 2022 to 2024 had recalls on internet. Ours is 2025. Been to dealer they ordered new camera under warranty. But there on back order. They said they would call us when it came in. That’s the story.

My vehicle started overheating out of no where towed it to the shop, it’s been there for 2 weeks they’re actively waiting for a manufacturer engineer to tell them what to do because they can’t figure out how to fix it. On top of that there have been a lot of overheating issues cause by different parts on the vehicle. There was another trailblazer in the at the same time as mine that was also overheating! A 2025 vehicle should not be having issues at this point gmc should just take all the trailblazers off the market! Also they need to change their manufacturing warranty on rentals because not one person should not have to pay out of pocket for a rental when it’s the manufacturers fault!

The vehicle has experienced ongoing and unresolved issues despite multiple service visits. The primary concern is excessive engine vibration. It shakes concerningly when backed into a driveway at an incline and placed in park. This occurs while the vehicle is stationary and idling. The issue has been reproduced and acknowledged by a dealership service advisor during a test drive, who stated the vibration was excessive and concerning. However, no repair was completed, and no clear diagnosis has been provided. The vehicle has also displayed repeated error messages with no confirmed cause, ongoing Bluetooth connectivity issues even after system updates and resets, and a malfunctioning forward collision warning system. Prior repair attempts include replacement of the backup camera, center console, and exterior windshield trim. The windshield trim repair was incomplete, as only the middle section was replaced while the remaining components were not, resulting in a mismatched and unresolved condition. No service documentation was provided for the most recent visit despite being advised that updated findings would be sent. These issues have persisted across multiple service attempts and remain unresolved. The engine vibration and malfunctioning safety systems raise safety and reliability concerns, including the potential for reduced driver awareness and increased risk of a collision.

My car along with multiple other cars like mine are having issues with the back up camera not working. I have to take it into a Chevrolet dealer to get it replaced. It is a huge safety concern and a recall needs to be issued.

Manufacturer communications

A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

PIC6589B

This Preliminary information communicates to the techicians a diagnostic tip if a customer has a complaint of a whistle/wind noise at highway speeds.

PIT6110K

This Preliminary information communicates an issue with the SES MIL and DTC P062B and engineering is currently investigating.

PIC6548B

This Preliminary information communicates to the technician the direction needed when encountering an issue with switching between adaptive cruise control and regular cruise control or an issue with automatic high beam feature after the front camera was replaced.

PIT5099J

PI to help diagnose A/C concern

PIT5966F

This Preliminary information communicates an issue with an OTA pending message still displayed after an OTA event and how to reset/clear the message.

PIC6637B

This document is a technical bulletin regarding CarPlay issues in certain Buick and Chevrolet models. It details the problem, cause, and current status of the software anomaly affecting CarPlay connectivity.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
