TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 FORD AEROSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROLS SHUTS ON AND OFF WITHOUT WARNING. SEVERAL YEARS AGO, HE WITNESSED BILLOWS OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE SPEED AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 145,681.
SPEED CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STARTED TO IDLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD. DEALER HAS YET TO BE CONTACTED. *AK
STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE. ALSO, AIRBAG/CRUISE CONTROL AND HORN STOPPED WORKING. VEHICLE IS IN REPAIR SHOP. *AK
WHEN WEATHER IS BELOW FREEZING AND THE OWNER STARTS THE CAR UP WITHOUT LETTING IT WARM UP, THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF WHEN GAS IS APPLIED AND THE PEDAL STICKS. BRAKES CANNOT BE APPLIED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP VEHICLE. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING HIT HORN NOTHING HAPPENED, CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT OPERATE, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DEALER CONTACTED, AND COULD NOT REMEDY PROBLEMS. ALSO, STEERING COLUMN GEAR SHAFT BROKE AND REPLACED IT WITH USED PARTS/ CLOCK SPRING WAS DEFECTIVE. PROBLEMS STILL EXIST. *AK
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FOWARD WITHOUT ANY WARNING, RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS. *AK *ML
CRUISE CONTROL REMAINED ACTIVE DESPITE ATTEMPTS TO DISABLE IT WITH CONTROL SWITCH, VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BY TURNING VEHICLE OFF.
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE SUDDENLY PICKED UP SPEED FROM 35 TO50 MPH AS IF PEDAL WAS FORCED DOWN. SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL TO AVOID PICKING UP SPEED, SHIFTED TO PARK, ENGINE STILL RACING. TURNED SWITCH OFF/ON TO STOP SURGING, VEHICLE WITH DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
WHILE DRIIVNG THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT AND THE CLOCK WENT CRAZY, VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME. *AK
SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION WHILE WAITING FOR THE STOP LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. TT
