On Dec 11, 2025, the driver’s heated seat in my 2013 Ford Edge overheated within minutes of activation, causing first- and second-degree burns to the occupant. The vehicle was inspected on March 18, 2026 and escalated for management review, but the manufacturer failed to provide the promised follow-up by March 26, 2026, and the defect remains unresolved, posing an ongoing risk of injury. No problems prior to ever using the heated seats.

My issue is that there is a door ajar alarm that I brought my vehicle into the dealer to fix. With this alarm you are unable to lock your doors while inside the vehicle. Someone tried to steal our vehicle from us with us inside, just walked up and opened the door. The attempt was unsuccessful and we got away but it had me thinking that if we had small children in our vehicle, they could easily open the door and fall out. The dealer said this is a known issue and it would cost over $500 to fix but recommended NOT fixing it because it would just happen again, it's a bad part/design they said. I did call Ford Motor Company and they advised me to report this to you so I'm reporting this before someone gets killed from this known issue.

The contact stated that after closing the door, an audible alarm was heard, and the door ajar warning light remained illuminated. An independent mechanic went to the residence to replace the battery. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer and the rear passenger’s side door latch was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The door ajar alarm and warning light was illuminated for the rear passenger’s door and later caused the battery to drain again. An independent mechanic went to the residence and the battery was replaced. The vehicle was then taken back to the local dealer where the door latch was replaced again. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Door switch problem -even when all doors are shut ,control panel is telling you a door is ajared -interior light stays on --can not lock car with remote --because it thinks door is open . if I try to lock my doors when I try to drive doors will not lock-safety issue right there. now I was informed by ford in January 2020 for the first time about this customer satisfaction problem as they called it . At this time the problem did not happen that often and the covid virus problem had keep us at home . when we were able to go out safely I brought car to my dealership and showed the paper work and the service dept said it is not covered anymore and I would have to pay $500.00 approximately. I called Ford from there and they would not give the ok on fixing it, where they would be able to do while I was there for regular maintenance. I advised them that I was only informed by that one letter in 2020. I have been having them do my service since I bought car in 2013 and nothing was ever mentioned about this problem . and now problem with door is continuous and I feel it should be taken care of by Ford. You have my vin # please have someone get back to me on what I should do to have this repaired by Ford.
