I just bought this vehicle with a broken powertrain, torque converter, and warped rotors. These cars are mechanics special that should only be $2,000. Since it's a 2020 it is being sold for $18,800. It can be repossessed for a crap shoot car. Before this I bought a 2016 Buick Enclave with also a broken torque converter issues. The engineers in car industry have failed. I would rather buy an older pre 2015 mechanics special for $1,200-$2,400, NOT $12,000-$18,800 for a POS drivetrain and transmission. A recall needs to be mandated for all these cars. Stiffing the consumer is unethical. With how our government and economy has been, we have had enough with being stuck with inadequacies.

My 2020 Ford Edge Titanium was shuddering between 10 - 40 mph. I took my car to a Ford dealership to diagnose the problem. They said it's the torque converter and they needed to replace the transmission. It would be a rebuild/repair at a cost of 8,991.00. This car has only 49,500 miles and points to a manufacturing defect NOT standard wear and tear. Ford knew of this issue regarding thus 8-speed transmission.

The vehicle has been shuddering/jerking when accelerating. This problem is present at highway speeds, as well as lower speeds. A Ford Service Center on 8-28-26 has diagnosed it as a failing torque converter. The safety or both me and others is at risk if this part fails while driving. It is also dangerous, because when accelerating in rainy conditions the car does not maintain good traction while it's shuddering/jerking. Yes, this is available for inspection upon request.

I bought my Edge new in 2020. 3 years into owning the car had the transmission replaced on 8/23 due to mechanical/component failures. This was replaced under the original warranty of the car. The new transmission carried a 2 year unlimited warranty. I started having trouble again with the transmission August 1, 2026. 3 years after the new transmission. Took it to the Ford dealer to have them diagnose the problem. They could not pinpoint the exact issue so I was given a choice of replacing the valve body for $2,000. Not guaranteed to fix the problem. Or have them break the transmission down for $2100 and diagnose the problem. But this did not included reassembly. So I opted to get a 2nd opinion. Took my Edge to Cotterman in Louisville, KY and had them run a diagnoses. They confirmed that I had internal component failures and that the transmission needed to be replaced. I was quoted $8,198. The car books for $4,000. This vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and another servicer. My vehicle never gave a transmission code. No warnings. It had to be scanned to find those codes. It did however give a no park available code on August 1st when I pulled in my driveway when I tried to put it in park. It shuddered and died when it gave this code. I don't understand why a 2020 vehicle needs a third transmission. Neither transmission have lasted to a 100,000 miles. I have found numerous articles and this is apparently a well known issue with these transmissions. With my experience the transmissions appear to have a 3 year life - no more.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered, and there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle, and the vehicle failed to exceed 30 MPH while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first and then became a consistent failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter and the rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Our 2020 Ford Edge SEL has experienced ongoing shuddering and hesitation while driving. The Ford dealership inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the torque converter as the likely cause, recommending approximately $4,500 in repairs. The torque converter has not been replaced and is available for inspection. We obtained a second opinion from an independent repair shop, which replaced the EGR sensors and updated them in an attempt to resolve the issue. The problem has created a safety concern because the vehicle does not always accelerate or operate normally while driving. The exact cause remains UNKNOWN, and the issue has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives.

The vehicle hesitates, jumps, and then surges into gear when accelerating from low speed, which I believe makes it difficult and hazardous merging into traffic and other driving situations. Due to the hesitation it is unable to get up to speed very easily or quickly on busy interstate roads. The hesitation, jumping, and surging has gotten progressively worse and occurs at higher speeds now. It seems like it now does this during each gear shift. I am a longtime Ford owner I previously drove a 2001 F150 with little to no problems, it reached around 280,000 miles before it's trade in. I now have a 2020 Edge SEL 2.0 AWD and have really enjoyed this car until this problem started. It was bought in March of 2024 with 62k miles and it now has 92k. The problem initially only surfaced after the car had bene on and moving for a while and it was very subtle. I could not tell if it was engine or tranny and it was only barely noticeable. But the issue has remained and now occurs at all periods of time when being driven. I have had this vehicle inspected by multiple service centers now, both of which confirm the problem being that when shifting gears the internal parts of the transmission slip causing wear and extra heat generation, leading to the slipping and jumping. The transmission needs to either be rebuilt or replaced due to its faulty initial construction. I have been told by these mechanics that they have had to do this exact replace on many of this exact same model of car, and similarly each time they've done it the models are typically around 80,000-90,000 miles not even making it to 100,000. There were no warning lights or messages and there still aren't any even after getting it looked at twice.

The transmission has been serviced regularly. It is starting to jerk at lower speeds. I have had two auto mechanics from different shops and locations inspect the transmission. Both have found shaved metal in the transmission fluid. After a call to two different Ford dealerships, the auto mechanics were informed that it is a problem with these transmissions, but Ford has not issued a recall. If I have to replace the transmission, I will be contacting an attorney for assistance. There have been no warning lights or alarms indicating that there are problems with the transmission. Because there are no warning lights on the dashboard, it has been hard to diagnose the actual problem. Of course, I am approximately 6000 miles over the extended warranty. At the time I took the car to the shop, the mileage was 79,465.

It hesitates between shifting gears and will then accelerate quickly. I own a 2020 Ford Edge ST with approximately 62,460 miles. My vehicle has developed a loud noise coming from the rear differential, particularly when turning at low speeds. On July 6, 2026, I had the vehicle inspected by my independent mechanic, Kenny's Quick Service. Ford Motor Company has not inspected my vehicle. My mechanic documented the following: "Customer has a noise in the rear of vehicle. Checked vehicle and found noise in rear differential, when turning at low speeds. Checked fluid and fluid is not at proper level, differential could possibly come apart. Differential needs to be replaced." Based on this inspection, my mechanic advised me not to continue driving the vehicle because of the condition of the rear differential. I was advised that if the differential completely fails, the vehicle could stop moving and potentially create a dangerous situation, including the possibility of an accident. The vehicle is currently not being driven because of this safety concern. This issue concerns me because Ford previously issued Safety Recall 21S02 involving certain 2020-2021 Ford Edge vehicles and a low-fluid condition in the rear drive unit. According to the recall information, inadequate lubrication could cause the rear drive unit to seize, resulting in loss of drive and/or loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. My vehicle is a 2020 Ford Edge ST, but my VIN is not included in the 21S02 recall. Despite not being included in the recall, my independent mechanic has now diagnosed a rear differential problem involving an improper fluid level and a condition requiring replacement of the differential. The similarity between the recalled condition and the condition diagnosed in my vehicle concerns me greatly. The estimated cost to replace the rear differential has been verbally stated to be approximately $3,000 to $5,000. I have not yet received a formal written repair estimate. I have contacted Ford Motor Company regarding this issue. Ford opened
